Austin helped with a pipe installation and did a fantastic job. He carefully checked for leaks, made sure everything was installed correctly and handled issues efficiently without rushing. I’d happily call him again for any plumber works that we need. Moving forward, I’ll be a Mesa Plumbing customer for all my plumbing needs. Certified Local Plumbing Company in Boulder

Andrew and crew at MESA are outstanding!! We had a unique commercial request that other HVAC companies simply ghosted us on. He and his crew not only took the job last minute but showed up on time just to help us meet our deadline. Scheduling was perfect-- one text, one email, no annoying phone tag. Andrew, and the entire crew at MESA made the process easy to understand from start to finish! The pricing was very reasonable. Rare integrity. Highly recommend

We used Mesa Plumbing to replace two hot water heaters in our duplex in 2007. At the time, we were unhappy to learn that they would only do the work at a "flat rate" based on what their book said the job would cost (as opposed to time and materials). They estimated that each job would take a half day and cost $700 for labor, plus $700 for the heater. (And we had two heaters, because it's a duplex, hence the final bill was $2800, total). Imagine our surprise when the plumbers said they were done mid-way through the day! We felt ripped off, but at least the heaters were in, right?! We just decided not to use them again, and moved on. Fast forward to 2011. We are applying for energy efficiency rebates for some insulation work through Smart Regs. The insulation tech is required to test the hot water heater and furnace for combustable air leakage, before they tighten up the house further (don't want to trap carbon monoxide in the house, of course). We are shocked to learn that BOTH hot water heaters FAIL the inspection! The draft diverters were not installed properly, and the units have been leaking fumes from inadequate combustion into the crawlspace for 7 years! So, not only were we overcharged, the work they did was shoddy. The energy efficiency inspector said, "no professional should do work like this." When we contacted Charlie (owner of Mesa), he very reluctantly agreed to come out and tinker with it. It still did not pass. Because of this problem, we were unable to do the insulation work before the deadline, lost out on $1000 worth of rebates that have since expired, and now have to pay someone else to replace the heaters. And while he was in the crawlspace looking at the problem, he complained about how much he hated working in crawlspaces, and said that people who worked on our furnace probably didn't really do any work, they just "banged on some pipes" and called it good. Let's just say that our HVAC company did not appreciate this insult. I think it says more about how Charlie's business works than others, truthfully.

Avoid this company! I would give them a 0 if I could. We scheduled an appointment for an urgent plumbing issue related to a broken pipe. They then called back, cancelled, and refused to reschedule. The front office receptionist was incredibly rude, and upon their cancellation said that they could not reschedule us for at least one to two months. Really? We used this company previously for a boiler installation, and were unhappy with their lateness to scheduled appointments and lack of professionalism over the phone. We only tried them again because of the urgency of our plumbing issue. We will not be interacting with them again.

MESA Plumbing recently acquired McAdams Plumbing...our go to for all plumbing issues. We needed a pop up drain replacement for our free standing tub. I rang McAdams, was prompted to hit a number, and left a voicemail. I was promptly called back and a date was set for the following day. I was surprised when a man wearing a MESA Plumbing shirt arrived on my porch. I actually said to him, "Ummm, we didn't call you." He had all my information and work needed. We allowed them to take a look at our problem. (We found out later that McAdams sold to MESA and yet none of this was stated (at the time) in MESA's answering services, messaging, etc. The McAdams Plumbing number rang straight through to a prompt to choose our plumbing needs. We got a call back from who we thought to be McAdams to schedule. It was actually MESA....a totally different company. We found this misleading on the part of MESA.) As for the work: We needed a new pop up drain plug to hold water in tub. That's it. At the initial visit, our tub was still sitting on top of the drain pipe draining into the pipe and out of the house. Our tech said this would be an easy fix. Several hours later I heard scraping and sawing in our newly remodeled master bathroom. I went to check on progress and tub was removed from the floor. I spoke with the now two men in the bathroom and let them know, "If this type of tub is something you haven't worked with before, let us know and we'll call someone else. There is no shame in walking away. I do not want this tub cracked or scratched." They said they could fix the plug...it was just more work than they thought. MESA Plumbing placed the tub back on the drain (or so they thought) filled the tub with water, plugged it with the new plug, and asked me to pay $600 for the day's work. I refused until I knew that the new drain held water in the tub. Within the hour, the tub was empty (it was still plugged with the new drain plug) and the water was pouring through the dining room ceiling. When the tech showed up the following day, his solution to fix the ceiling drywall was "putty" the hole we drilled to direct water into a bucket. (it clearly needed to be cut and patched... with mud, texture and paint.) They'd do that after they got the drain plug working. We gave MESA 8 weeks to fix the damage they'd done. We ultimately cut ties with MESA after they scratched and cracked the tub, reinstalled the new one about 3/4" off the bathroom tile (a floating tub...sigh) and proposed to fill the gap with spray foam. Also, they notched out a joist to install a Moen tub filler which we later had our new plumber brace. This was a costly fix for us as we had to hire a knowledgeable plumber to fix MESA Plumbing's damage to our home. We then hired someone to drywall, patch, and paint our dining room ceiling. The most upsetting part of this experience was how misleading the initial contact was made. We had no idea the return call to set up an appointment came from a company other than McAdams Plumbing. (Our experience with local McAdams was always great and this experience is in no way their fault.) Based on reviews, MESA Plumbing would have never been called for work in our home.

We have used Mesa over the past few years without complaint, but our most recent interactions were disappointing, to say the least. Terrible customer service, exceptionally poor value, and completely unprofessional. I wish I had checked the recent reviews before calling them again. But, we didn't. We called and made an appointment. No show. Called and made another appointment, finally someone showed. We had a split in the copper wiring that connects our evaporative cooler to the water. When the serviceman came out to fix it (total of ~15 mins of work), he said the fixture no longer fit, it was causing a leak, and we needed to replace the garden hose splitter with a brass one and get a washer for the evap cooler sillcock. Not sure why it suddenly didn't fit when it wasn't causing a problem before, and their team had set everything up the year prior, (or why he wouldn't have spare parts) but anyway... after a $260 service call, we went to Home Depot ourselves to get a new splitter and washer for the evap cooler sillcock. None of the available fixtures fit the existing evap cooler attachment, so we had to get a new evap cooler sillcock. Then the copper connection didn't fit... we don't have the right tools to cut it cleanly enough to replace the fitting, so we called back... After three separate calls on three separate days (after being told I would receive a call back but didn't), they sent someone out. On this call, he was able to take a look at the actual cooler since we finally had all of the parts needed to make a leak-free connection. He then said someone set up the evap cooler wrong (reminder: it was Mesa was out the year before to service it and there was no problem then), and it's now leaking. Apparently, we need to replace the entire unit. So, at this point we have spent over $500 for less than an hour of labor and still have a problem. My dad does HVAC but sadly doesn't live close enough to fix this. I agree with him though-- this is unequivocally terrible customer service. You should have the parts you need on hand and fix and double check things on the first visit. Don't charge for multiple visits if you didn't leave things running smoothly the first time. Over $500 for less than an hour of work is ludicrous. On top of all that, one of the men (I think the owner) laughed at me, not in a friendly way, when I called and used the term "spigot," though he knew exactly what I was talking about. There is no reason to treat your customers poorly for not knowing the proper terminology for your field. I don't laugh at people who don't know proper econometrics terms or how to run regressions. This is something that I would normally not consider worth mentioning, but it's like a rotten cherry on top of a terrible scoop of ice cream.

Writing this is certainly not a productive use of my time, but I'm so disenchanted in feeling ripped off by two Boulder plumbing companies these days I believe it's an act of responsibility on my part to share this information in hopes (that may be asking a bit much) that these service providers reconsider their business strategies. I hired Mesa to help with a bathroom remodel. They were asked to cut out a cast iron drain for the sink and replace with an ABS drain and vent pipe. The plumber, Adam, handed me an "estimate" to sign before he got started. I looked it over and said, 'since this is an estimate, is there a chance the final bill will come in less?' His answer was "No." So then I proceeded to ask him what his hourly rate was and he said "175-250". So I said "If your hourly has a range, and you haven't started the job, then don't you believe there's a possibility it will come in less?" He said, "Maybe". So, I said "That does makes sense to me so I'll cross my fingers and hope so." While Adam was doing the work, he asked if I'd like this new white plastic cover to go over my old cast iron toilet flange which will help with the toilet function. I asked the cost to install he said "$250" so I approved. Mesa's final bill came in a bit less then the estimate, which was great. But two days later I found myself at Home Depot standing in front of $10-$20 flanges. So I went home and looked at the still exposed flange Mesa (Adam) installed (Oatey) so I could do a price check. I found the same Oatey flange for $18.85. So, what this told me is that Mesa/Adam charged me $250 to screw into the floor a $18.85 (retail price) flange. This is such a farce. I believe Adam was so annoyed with my asking about his hourly rate and the possibility of the final bill coming in for less that he uncharged me and ripped me off just to show me how powerful he is. Next, I sent an email toe Ali at Mesa and asked to have a conversation with Charlie, the owner, to give the the opportunity to redeem themselves. Charlie was out so I asked for him to return my call. He never returned my call so I canceled Mesa's follow up appt. to install the shower trim. Do they care? It doesn't appear so.

I had an absolute immediate need for a plumber and was fortunate enough to find Mesa. As a facilities supervisor, I hire a lot of contractors a year and none of my “regular” guys were able to make it. Mesa was out within the hour. As a matter of fact, they beat my employee to the site. Quinn, the plumber, was an amazing example of professionalism and competency. He was careful, fast and efficient- all the while explaining what was happening with the plumbing (we had removed drywall to access). I was prepared to spend a lot of money thinking that the problem was buried in the wall, something that my sewer scoping guy thought. Turns out, the sinks were plumbed properly and it was the tenant, again, shoving debris down the drain. Quinn is also putting together a summary of his findings, something that is going to help me and my team train on site staff. What an extraordinary experience with my new “preferred” plumber. The construction industry, especially in this market, is filled with maybe not intentionally but still, unqualified workforce. Quinn was obviously very well versed in the how’s and whys presenting at the job. I can’t overstate how refreshing it is to find such a good organization and plumber. All shops in every trade have problems, make mistakes and like any business, have varying quality and trained employees- I have confidence in Mesa and specifically, Quinn. People make the company and I can say that the dispatcher, Quinn and Patrick whom I spoke with were amazing. Helpful and polite. 10/10 Oh, ps- the prompt is asking me what “services were provided” and I checked the box. But, dear homeowner, please believe me, discovering what the correct service is after a professional diagnostic is the ONLY thing that matters. That ability is the “special sauce” that separates a good contractor from a great one.

DO NOT USE!! I was told I was the first appointment of the day. Got a notification my tech was on his way and quoted time frame was 30-45 minutes. 45 minutes pass and I get a call from the tech that he is still 20 minutes out. 20 minutes pass and still no tech. I've been waiting over an hour at this point since first notification that he is on his way. He eventually shows up 35 minutes after the call. I was given estimates for a frozen pipe package, customer supplied garbage disposal replacement, and a cracked tank lever on a slow flushing toilet. Everything was VERY overpriced, but I was desperate to get the burst pipe replaced ($665) so only went with that estimate. But I was quoted $740 to replace a garbage disposal I was supplying, absolutely criminal for many reasons -- the average cost for a garbage disposal replacement is between $300-500 and that is with the plumber supplying the new disposal, so with me supplying the new disposal it should be less than $300, but not according to Mesa! And then for the tiny crack in the tank lever of the toilet he was trying to sell me an entire upper tank rebuild ($471) or an entire toilet replacement ($1200+)!! I don't know if he thought he could scam me because I'm a woman and he didn't think I knew better or what, but for a cracked piece of plastic that is $7 at home depot, I wasn't buying it. Unfortunately for him, I was not born yesterday and am a very handy lady. I purchased the parts for the tank lever replacement and will be doing it myself this afternoon after work, total price $12 after tax. Utter highway robbery and incredibly dishonest. Mesa are scammers. Do not use them. Update: I replaced the tank lever myself and it flushes like a dream and it only took $12 and 2 minutes to do. $1200 toilet replacement? Not sure how y'all sleep at night. Criminals.

BEWARE! I called to get a quote for a repair on my evap cooler. The guy on the phone, Matt, said that quotes are free and confirmed it with management before we agreed to a time, since I live slightly out of town. The technician arrived and I told him what was going on. He said that Matt was wrong, assessments aren't free and they cost $340. I noted that I was told it was free and signed the document, thinking we could work it out later like honest people (it's on me for signing anything and assuming that people have morals and won't be jerks). I then contacted the company and was told that nothing can be decided or worked out over the phone, it has to be email because they need everything in writing because it's best for them. I was also told that the technician should assess the situation and then come up with a charge, which didn't happen, outside of a brief discussion when I admitted I don't know what's wrong. The company hides behind a program that they claim shows what happened and when but it wasn't correct. They want "evidence" that things didn't happen the way I describe. I wasn't aware that I needed to get everything in writing and record every conversation that took place. So much for honesty and being a company that works with the customer to resolve issues. The customer isn't always right, but in this case they are. I'm sure they'll respond and blame me, but this is at least partly on them for not taking responsibility for inconsistent communication. REVISION: a manager called me and we worked out to split the cost due to the misunderstanding on both sides. This is what I was trying to do in the first place.

Great experience with Mesa Plumbing and with their plumber Darrel Norris! I had worked with Mesa through our design-build firm over 15 years ago, and I am glad to see that they are still thriving and keeping customers satisfied! Two services/positive experiences: - I had asked for an inspection of our 20-year-old evaporative cooler and to give us an estimate for a new one if needed. Darrel spent a good amount of time on the roof to see if he could do adjustments and fix it first. I went on the roof and showed him what we had already tried. He masterfully did some back-and-forth adjustments, and gave us more life out our unit. Many companies would go right to selling you a new one. Darrel is the kind of person you wish could be around to fix everything in your house! - We also requested a drain flush. With the age of our water heater, and my lack of regular maintenance, there was too much sediment in the tank for flushing. Darrel also saw some parts melting and the gas vent line not quite at the correct grade. I was worried about the risk and agreed to a replacement gas water heater. In my haste, I signed an agreement, but then quickly realized that we wanted to take more time to explore heat pump water heaters. I explained my situation in email to the company, asking to be released from the commitment gas-heater work. They (I am assuming the owners) made it so easy! They simply said, “Let us know if you change your mind or need further assistance!” Matt, at the front desk, was also helpful. Those honest practices definitely go far in winning over return customers!

If I could give them a zero I would, but that's impossible so I had to give them a 1. I had someone come out on February 25th because I had a leaky pipe and the heater wasn't working. They got the heat working and sent another guy out to fix the leaky pipe. The pipe in question was responsible for reducing pressure and they didn't have one so they had to order a new one. Their plumber, Jacob I believe was his name, put in a temporary fix to stop the leak which resulted in my shower perpetually leaking. Before he left he gave me a quote for $309, I refused to pay until the job was done so they left with just a $100 visit fee, a separate charge from the $309. I called later that week as the heat had already stopped working again and they told me the part they ordered wouldn't be in for another 2 weeks and they'd check out the heating situation when they came to install the pressure reducing pipe. Two weeks pass and I call and talk to the plumber who told me the part still hadn't arrived and they'd call back as soon as it did. I never got a call back. Now I don't have hot water coming through the showers, no heat, leaky shower, and the heat still doesn't work. I called again, now it's just under 2 months since the initial visit and they now tell me there was never a $309 quote even though it's in my texts and I got that number directly from their plumber. The new quote is $741.29, ridiculous! I asked them to honor their quote, they refused so now I have to find someone else to fix a part I've been waiting on them to fix for two months. Terrible.

Charles Ozment is one of the rare service technicians who is not only brilliant at what he does, but he is also the most client-focused technician I've ever experienced. His thorough explanation and photos depicting why we needed a new boiler system and the information he provided allowed us to make a well-informed decision on a large investment to replace our whole heating system. During installation, he explained what he was doing and how the parts functioned. His attention to detail and expertise are second to none. Beyond his superior technical ability, Charles's interpersonal skills and ability to earn trust with his customers is what sets him apart from the rest. He smiled throughout the whole installation as he explained what he was doing, clearly indicating that he loves his work and loves to please clients. Because I teach interpersonal, leadership, and business development skills, I recognized Charles's skill set immediately. When I showed Charles my library of books, he indicated that he's read about half of them. I was blown away by his passion, his ability to put himself in the customer's shoes, and his ability to make sure we were completely comfortable with how to navigate the thermostat programming and settings once the installation was complete. I can not say enough about Charles' professionalism, expertise, and client-facing skills. In my book, he's absolutely the best in his profession. I would recommend Charles to anyone for their home/commercial heating issues.
