I want to thank Mayes and Sons Plumbing for the excellent handling of our plumbing issue and in particular Ryan in dispatch and Preston the technician. Briefly we have a home warranty with a company that caused our situation to turn into a nightmare for my wife and I. Being out of hot water in our home for three days, the home warranty decided they could get a tank cheaper and didn't want to let the technician from Mayes install the tank he had come to our home with. This being Friday and the thought of going through a weekend two more days without hot water jubilation turned into panic. Ryan was able to figure out a way to get the new tank in as I dealt with the warranty company, and Preston the technician was respectful, professional, and certainly knew his craft as he had us back in hot water quickly. I can only say home warranty companies can be good and bad, but this company is A+++++ and I will recommend them to family and friends with confidence. Thank you again, Ryan and Preston. God Bless

I hope I have the correct location, my hot water heater was on the complete fritz. I called Rheem they connected me to Mayes and I have never been more grateful so the wonderful technician named Jacob. His communication with me was top notch, he arrived sooner than expected (no complaints there), was neat and didn’t get a drop of snow in my home. He diagnosed the problem made the necessary calls to Rheem, made this entire ordeal so much easier than I anticipated! Jacob even shoveled the snow off my sidewalk to my surprise! Please pass on my appreciation for Jacob a Top Notch Tech that has impeccable service, from beginning to end. Thank you.

Staff was amazing and very respectful of our home. They worked unbelievably fast and cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend. I know I won't be calling anyone else if Im ever in need again. You just got a life long customer! And I'll recommend to anyone I know that needs plumbing help.

This company contracts with the home warranty company that we have. We submitted a request for a service call for our hot water heater as we believe that it caused our soggy carpet water mess in our finished basement when we returned home from being out of town. After this company accepted the dispatch call from the home warranty company, I contacted them to see when we would be having a technician come to us. The first time I called, they told me that they were on lunch break and to call back. About an hour later, I called back and the phone was picked up by an answering service. The lady I spoke with told me that she indicated my situation was emergency and she would transfer my inquiry to the company. After hours of waiting, I never heard back. I had to call the home warranty company and request that authorization from someone else. I understand this happened on the weekend. However, I called the first time around noon and the second time at 1 PM By 3 PM I still hadn’t heard from anybody about when they would be able to come and look at our hot water heater. I would recommend not accepting dispatch calls from the home warranty company, especially on the weekends, if you will not be able to tell people when you’ll be able to make it to their service call. Edit to the owners reply: This was not an after hours call. I spoke to the lady who picked up the phone at noon and she stated you were operating until 4.

They drove through my front yard and across my driveway to get to the neighbor's property where they were working.

update to my 5 star review 3 years ago. 3 years ago they fixed the water line outside. Everything went great, no issues so when my hot water heater was leaking I was happy that the warranty company was sending them out again. So Thursday evening when I came home from work I noticed I had not hot water, went to check the heater and water was everywhere flooding the basement. I called the warranty company they set it up and I put in my availability and sent photos via the text link. Waited on Mayes to call me and tell me when they were coming back. They didn’t call thurs night understandably as it was late, didn’t hear from them fri morning so I started to get worried and I called them. The guy who answered the phone was super helpful said he would try to squeeze me in that day if not Sat morning for sure. No big deal. Sat morning Dillon calls tells me he will be there between 8:30-9 he shows up on time and is the absolute sweetest. I have zero issues with Dillon. He is a fantastic person and genuinely cared. He calls my warranty company and they tell me I have repair only not replacement (my fault for not paying attention no big deal) so I would have to pay the remaining $600. After they pay $500. No big deal. Dylan tells me they can’t take cards on Saturday…I was never once informed this. So it’s either check or cash. I don’t have cash laying around and certainly not that amount so I searched everywhere for a check and found one crumpled up in the junk drawer…I’m 32….I don’t use checks in this modern society. I didn’t want the money taken from my checking account since I needed to buy groceries and that would leave me with less than $100 for 2 weeks. My problem I know not theirs, but that’s the point of an emergency credit card. So I agree to the job because I need hot water. I don’t have anyone close to me I can use to shower and do laundry. I don’t have a choice. Dillon graciously offered to call his boss and ask about a discount since I was not informed of the no credit card on Saturday thing. This is where everything goes south. His boss agrees to take $50 off but only if I pay cash. I DONT HAVE CASH. I felt that was very very shady to have a cash only discount and quite frankly insulting that so little was cared when their website clearly states they take credit cards. No mention whatsoever on the website or when scheduling an appointment that they won’t take them on Saturdays. At this point I’m starting to just accept that I’m screwed for the next 2 weeks. I called the office in a last ditch effort to ask if I could pay them over the phone with a card or give Dillon my card number literally anything. The lady on the phone she was so sweet WAS NOT EVEN AWARE THEY DONT TAKE CARDS ON SATURDAY. Dillons boss finally calls him and tells him to just call in with my credit card number and they would run it on Monday. Dillon finished installed the water heater, installed a gas shut off valve since I didn’t have one and explained the heater to me, hauled away my old one, and offered to relight my pilot light on the stove, my model is easy so I told him I could do that no big deal. He found the drain in my basement is clogged and I do have warranty coverage on that as well but I will be requesting a different company just in case the issue of a credit card comes up again. It’s truly sad because I had such a good experience the first time and Dillon was such a sweetheart through everything.

June 13, 2024 I called Butts Plumbing in Avon Lake because I did not have hot water, and I also needed my kitchen faucet replaced. Prior to calling I checked the pilot light, which was lit. Butts sent a plumber out, and determined it was the thermostat that needed to be replaced, and told me to purchase a kitchen faucet, and they would replace that when they came back to fix the hot water tank. Later that day I received a call from Mayes & Sons (who bought out Butts) and was told the part was under warranty, and the parts would be delivered to my home; just call them when the part arrived. On June 19, a different plumber came out to replace the faucet and fix the water heater. This plumber told me I needed a pilot assembly, and he would order that. The next day I called Mayes and Sons to see when the part was due to arrive, and they told me it was not ordered. I called the Rheem myself and was sent the part to my home. On June 25, called Mayes and Sons when the part arrived to schedule a time for the repair of the hot water tank and replacement of the kitchen faucet. On June 26, 2024 and Mayes and Sons send someone (Jacob) out for the job. Upon arriving, Jacob tells me he does not have the tools to replace the kitchen faucet, was only told about the hot water tank. 45 minutes later Jacob finished replacing the two warranty parts on the hot water tank and tells me it will be $375.00. I told him the plumber who came out on June 19 said the cost to replace the faucet in the kitchen, and install the parts for the hot water tank would be $300.00, which I thought was a fair price. He went to his van and called someone, came back and said it would be $300.00 for the hot water tank and I would have to schedule another appointment for the kitchen faucet. I would NOT recommend calling Butts/Mayes and Sons for any job. I will call a different plumber for the kitchen sink faucet.

I made a claim with my insurance company on an interior water line leak. Mayes & Son responded to the job. The tech Tony came out and was rude about the questions being asked to him. He repaired the hot water line and left the cold water line leaking. The company then sends Dave Glenn out to access the work that wasn’t done and knew I was not happy with the work and professionalism of the last worker Tony. Dave Glenn says his self that the cold water line is leaking and didn’t understand why it was left leaking and not repaired. He takes pictures of the leak and the company was to get back with me about finishing the job. After multiple calls to the company and my insurance company, Mayes & Son made the decision not to complete the work. The tech Tony came out to my home on a Friday, Dave came out to access the work from Tony on Monday, they decided on Wednesday that they’re not going to finish and complete the job, and my line has been leaking since Friday, so my insurance company now has to get a different company to take on the job and hopefully finish what Mayes & Son DID NOT DO. That is bad business because they could of made the decision before starting the repair they wasn’t going to complete before even touching my water lines. They took on the job, started the job, left the job unfinished and me the customer with an ongoing leak, all to abandon the job in the end. The tech Tony was very unprofessional, he discussed with me what job they’ll do and not do based on what they get paid. There again I pay my insurance company, I have absolutely NOTHING to do with what they get paid from the insurance and that’s information that should NOT have been discussed with me. Again if the job was too much for them to handle or was to much work for what they are paid the job should have NEVER BEEN TOUCHED!!!

Very poor customer service skills involved with regret to express my disappointment with the overall experience I had with Mayes and Sons. Despite initially receiving a quote for a project, the subsequent communication and follow-through were notably subpar. Efforts to establish contact and seek updates on the quoted project were met with a frustrating lack of responsiveness. Multiple phone calls, which I made on my behalf, were required to elicit any response regarding the status of the proposed job. Promises to return calls and provide updates were made, only to be consistently unfulfilled. The lapse in communication from Mayes and Sons reflects a considerable deficiency in their customer service. It is disheartening that a company would entertain the notion of quoting a customer if there was a reluctance or inability to proceed with the indicated project. Clarity and honesty in communication are essential aspects of any service-oriented business, and regrettably, these qualities were conspicuously absent in this instance. In the future, I sincerely hope Mayes and Sons endeavors to enhance its communication processes and customer relations to ensure a more positive and reliable experience for its clientele. Such improvements would undoubtedly contribute to the reputation and success of the company.

The owner Dave doesn't care about customers or the issues his techs create & couldn't return a phone call. The GM Bob didn't even take the time to understand the situation & offered no help getting the mess cleaned. Ryan answers the phone lied to me & was anything but customer service focused. Mark the service man made a mistake & his employer took the high road instead fixing it. He sent the jet, from the outside cleanout, towards the house. He kept jamming it & I said why is the noise in my house. I checked & they busted the pipe in the basement & sewage was spraying everywhere. They replaced the pipe & tried to jet to the street, but they couldn't get all the way to the street. Mark said "If this doesn't resolve the problem, we'll come back out & take care of it, no charge". I told him Ryan said you would never say that. I was told the mess wasn't their problem & they left. I missed work & spent days cleaning & repairing my basement, all my belongings & had to throw stuff out.

I requested a service call through Cinch Home Services and they selected this company. They called promptly to arrange a service time and collect more information. I distinctly told them that I had an upflushing toliet in the basement that needed repaired. On the day of service they called again to verify the service time and the issue. I told them that it was an upflushing toilet in the basement that had issues. When the technician showed up he was friendly enough but told me that they can't fix my problem because they don't repair upflushing toilets. At this point I was confused, why did they even accept the service call in the first place? Why make me wait and send someone out just to tell me they won't work on it? He asked if he could take a picture of it and then he promptly left. Now here I am waiting for them to submit a report to Cinch so that they can send someone else out to fix my toilet. What a complete waste of my time and inconvenience.

My house is over 125 years old. My sink was gurgling and toilets running slow. I called late on a Friday and got an appointment first thing on Monday. I was given some helpful advice on how to manage the situation over the weekend. The main line was blocked with tree roots and some baby wipes. Mark and his son were prompt, polite and courteous and did a great job unclogging the main in less than an hour at an incredibly reasonable fee. Mark was great at answering questions I asked about possible problems in the future, and maintaining an open line, and he suggested calling back in 6 months or sooner if a problem arises. I highly recommend this plumber. I like to support local businesses. There is a trust and confidence there that you don't get with the "Big" companies.

My warranty company has sent Tony of Mayes & Sons Plumbing our way twice now, and he has been beyond great!!! He has been the only plumber who has ever fixed the clog in my line where two drains meet by snaking both drain lines. This is such a big deal I had to write about it. Most plumbers take the short cut of removing the piece in the basement where the two lines meet, which creates a mess. Snaking both drains took more time, but it was the professional (and kindest) way to do it -- both drains run as clear as if new, and the likelihood of that clog recurring has gone way down. He is super-quick and super-nice. Thank you very, very much, Tony and Mayes & Sons Plumbing!

We had Greg come out to unclog our kitchen sink drains. He was personable and professional (he needs a raise! :D) He fixed our issue within 20 minutes even though he had to go back to his truck to get a bigger snake and the price we were quoted, which was far more reasonable than every other plumber we tried in the area, was still the same by the end of the visit! Couldn't be happier with his work and highly recommend them! This has been an issue for months so now I can finally use my kitchen and cook in it again, which saves me even more money in the long run! Thanks so much!

I worked with this company to get a new hot water tank through a home warranty. The company is beyond excellent and supportive and they work hard for my business. I can’t say the same about the home warranty company however. I spoke with one of their managers, Bobby Who is a straight shooter and gives me all the necessary information to make the appropriate decisions for my home and my family. He sent out Alex and Johny, who are very respectful and worked diligently to solve my issue. Highly recommend the company I will definitely bring them back , if I ever have more work.
