Mayes and Sons came out to inspect my Water Heater. John diagnosed the problem quickly, and assured us he would have it replaced today. He was quick and professional. I believe it was just about 2 hours for from when he arrived to when he left and everything was wrapped up. Would certainly recommend.
This was a great experience. The technician was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He was also very considerate and respectful of our home. The work was performed as promised with high-quality workmanship. I’d highly recommend this company for your plumbing needs.
Had an emergency with my hot water tank, and was referred to Mayes & Son's. They came Friday for my tank and came right back to fix my faucet, an even bigger issue, today. The price was wonderful and Matt, my service pro, was really kind. I will always choose this company for my plumbing needs. 🩷🩷
I did not have a good experience with this company. Put in a ticket with my home warranty company and they assigned Mayes to come out to my home due to a clog. The first technician showed up on Friday (2/6/26) and found that there was not an adequate clean out in my house and advised I reach out to city sewer to find the one outside. However, this is not my issue with the company or this technician. While the technician was in my home he seemed to take offence that there was a hose going from my sink next to my washer into the floor/sewer in my basement. He proceeded to rip this hose out of the floor and just left the hole open to the sewer. Unfortunately, I was in meetings the rest of the day and did not realize he did this until well after he left and the company was closed for the day. The city sewer showed up that evening and in the process of them attempting to find/clear the clog issue I had sewage back up through this hole that the first technician left causing damage to rugs, carpeting, and untold number of towels that all had to be thrown out. I called Mayes the next morning (Saturday 2/7/26) and requested they send someone out that day to at least fix this hole and potentially fix the clog I still had. I spoke to three people that day and all seemed pretty surprised that the first tech left my home the way he did and that he would just rip this hose out of the ground. The company only gets 2 stars purely for the second tech. He spent 40 minutes trying to snake the clog before realizing that it needed to be flushed. This was an extra charge which I unfortunately had no choice but to pay. I am incredibly frustrated that at no point did anyone from Mayes apologize or offer any sort of compensation for the damage their tech caused while he was in my home. The first tech needs to be retrained before he is allowed into someone else's home.
Literal joke of a company took over two months to send in a service report for a warranty call, for real had absolutely no plumbing in my house. Called repeatedly, even the warranty company called requesting the information as well. Not that difficult to do the damn job to submit a damn report, will not be doing business with them. Highly unprofessional, and lazy.
In response to a home warranty ticket we filed for a leaking shower in our new house, Mayes and Sons Plumbing was contracted to the job. Basically if you took a shower on the 2nd floor, there was a shower waiting for you through the drywall on the first floor. The plumbers that showed up claimed the issue came from the tile of the shower and had nothing to do with the plumbing. They offered us virtually no technical description in writing as to what the issue was and where the actual leak path was. They gave us practically no technical insight as to what the issue with the tiling causing the leak was. They just wrote two grammatically unintelligible sentences on a receipt stating it's a tiling issue. We needed some statement from Mayes and Sons to relay to our sellers in order to request a repair on our newly purchased house. After hounding Mayes for something in writing for a few weeks, my husband wrote a technical description as to what he believes might be the problem and asked Mayes to sign off on the description in concurrence. The general manager at Mayes refused with the reasoning that "that isn't something we have ever done." Seems like these plumbers lack the intelligence quotient required to articulate their work in writing and believe any signature they put on a piece of paper is a legal liability. I reccomend finding a more competent plumber for your money.
I wish I could give zero stars, one of the worst experiences ever. I have water leaking from my ceiling and when I informed them it was coming from the pipe I was told that it wasn’t. First they change the wax ring on the toilet but a week after water continued to leak from my ceiling. They came back a second time and opened up the drywall but the day they finally came the pipe wasn’t actively leaking. Instead of waiting for the leak to occur again to see where exactly it was leaking from the pipe the plumber stated he believed it was coming from my roof. I had a knee roof installed in 2023 so I knew that couldn’t be the case. Fast forward a week and my ceiling was leaking water and I was able to see where it was leaking from the pipe. When I tried to have Mayes and Sons plumbing return I was informed by my home warrant company that the technician stated the leak was because of my roof and they completely closed my request. I was informed i either had to pay another $200 deductible or wait 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS for them to decide if the plumber made a mistake, even though I have video evidence. I ended up paying another deductible but I made sure they weren’t the ones returning. People don’t pay for assumptions and lazy workers we need results!!!
Today this company came had to switch my water line from the lead pipes we had to copper pipes. Now this company was contracted by the City of Akron to complete this service. Well upon completion they had to turn my water back on. So now the water is not working in my kitchen or my bathroom sink. So went to let them know and they were very rude and told us that this was not their problem and basically take it up with the City. Now this is a plumping company. How is this not your problem. My water has worked just fine for the 15 years that we have lived here and today my water is not working properly. This company couldn’t care less they already got their money. So if you have to have the same thing done make sure to check your water before they leave, but rest assure their not going to give damn about if it works or not! SHAME ON THE CITY OF AKRON FOR CONTRACTING THIS COMPANY WHO ONLY CARES ABOIT THE MONEY AND NOT THE PEOPLE! YOUR WORKERS NEED A CLASS IN EDICT AND HOW TO HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE. YOU WILL LOSE A LOT OF CUSTOMERS THIS WAY. ALL BUSINESS’S ARE NOT GOOD BUSINESS PEOPLE!
I recently had Mayes & Sons Plumbing address a few plumbing issues and install a new hot water tank, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the initial call, their team was professional and responsive. They quickly scheduled an appointment, and the technicians who arrived were courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. They clearly explained the plumbing problems and provided solutions that made sense. The hot water tank installation was seamless; they handled everything with expertise, from disconnecting the old unit to setting up the new one. The work areas were left clean and tidy, which is always a huge plus. It's clear that Mayes & Sons takes pride in their craftsmanship and genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. I now have perfectly functioning bathroom and a reliable new hot water tank. I highly recommend Mayes & Sons Plumbing for any plumbing needs, big or small! ---
My issue is we are now 5 weeks out and I still have a hole in my tree lawn. I called the week after they were done on my street and was told the records showed it was done but that they would reach out to the foreman that was still in the area working. A week later I called again the gentlemen I spoke with said he would put a message to his manger. Just over a week later I call again and the gentlemen I spoke with said some one drove by and said it was done. I explained it was not done and he said he would forward the message again. We are now 2 weeks after that call and nothing is done again. I offered to send photos but they did not want them I told them the hole was a long the side walks so it's not easy to see from a car on the street.
This is the second service call we have had through our warranty company that Mayes has done. We are a bit rural, so service providers usually have to travel, but we were lucky enought to have Mayes asigned to us twice. First was a toilet repair and then a faucet issue. We have been VERY happy with the service. Tony was our technician both times and he is so friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. He remembered us from the previous service call, which was very nice. We would definitely call them again for any future repairs, and will be requesting Tony! Thank you!
Company was assigned by my home warranty company. Plummer was very short said gun was clogged due to paint and grout due to tub peeling and advised me I needed to have several components replaced 2” and 4 “ as he tried to unclog but due to the paint he couldn’t get anything. I called another company they came out used a camera and said it’s hair snakes it and all clear. So $400 later issue fixed such with just a snake of the drain.Mays will never get service from me a waste of a deductible just for them to be lazy and not provide quality service
Terrible response time miscommunication after miscommunication they cut a huge hole in my kitchen ceiling after two weeks they call my warranty company it's beyond their expertise they were quoting us thousands of dollars. My warranty company sent out a different company and the repair was down within one hour and he told me the hole in my ceiling was never needed! Showed me the problem what he was doing to correct it and fixed it for $200! These people are con artists and bached up my house for no reason!
I found my tech talking on his phone with foot up on dash discussing that he could make the appt last to what I thought it might cost. He was not as knowledgeable as promised and my faucet still isn't installed proper. The plumbers glue he used started flaking out almost immediately and continues to do so. Faucet only turns so far and i trully believe he took advantage of my desperation to finally try to get it fixed. Shame on his work ethics to take advantage!!!!!!!!
Very rude employees, I would personally never hire a company that treats people like this, blocks my driveway with their equipment so I cannot leave and then Acts like their job is more important than your life, and I watched them leave my neighbors without heat for 4 days when they struck her gas line with the ditch witch trying to place a water main on Nesmith lake Blvd in Akron, I'm sure that there's more professional people who are in the industry, good luck.
