Jonathan Markus was excellent. Called at 8 and he was here by 10:30. Very friendly, very informative and got my sink drain unclogged in no time. Excellent service from Jon from Jim Needham! I would absolutely recommend and will use them again.

Joe came out and installed a whole water filtration system at our house. Joe did a great job and did really great work. Very happy with our decision to use Jim Needham to address our issues with our water. Joe showed up early and worked all day until the job was done. Very happy for the results that we got. We also had them install a reverse osmosis filtration system. It makes a world of difference.

Isaiah was very informative and forthcoming with what we needed for the installation of our Freedom Water Systems filtration unit. His planning and execution for our project was amazing. Do not hesitate to have this team quote your project too.

Called to get a price quote yesterday to install a water heater. Instead of giving a quote, they insisted I have them come out to see me. I gave up my afternoon to wait for them only to receive a call saying they weren't going to send anyone. Not the way to run a business. Call someone reliable.

Such a terrible company. They charged $400 for a drain cleaning despite the $93 advertisement, and when I asked why $300 extra dollars it was for the "office managers salary". So sad to see companies like this taking advantage of people, but more common than ever these days. Beware!! Avoid at all costs

TLDR: Dishonest business, misdiagnosed my problem, tried to take advantage of me. My home didn't have working AC, so we looked around for best-reviewed companies and picked this company for its high amount of 5 star ratings on google. Note: Yelp reviews are much lower. We did not receive professionality, transparency, or good value. We were taken advantage of. They showed up when expected, and diagnosed our needs to include replacement of our full system -- including indoor evaporative coil and external condenser unit. The technician showed my partner a lot of numbers on an iPad and claimed that there was damage and leaking to both units. We asked on the phone and on emails for an invoice that included the diagnosis notes and the quote for all parts of the unit so we could make an educated decision. They, however, only responded with emailed offers for financing and completely disregarded our requests for information for several days. The only written information we had after almost a full week was a single invoice with a charge for $10,149 that only included a listing for the outdoor condenser unit (the invoice also stated that any additional charges and parts must be paid for without our approval if we approved the initial estimate). We didn't even get the initial invoice for the $49 diagnosis we had paid for. After sending those multiple emails, I decided to do some research on the parts costs and calling other companies to find out what costs might be for the same services. Nobody I spoke to could help me understand where the $10,149 could be justified, and I received offers for thousands less for the same work from some other local companies. I called the company to try to get some clarity: I spoke on the phone with a receptionist who stated that she couldn't provide information for our services. I then called the manager, John, who decided to place blame on his technician, my partner, other companies, and made some mention of some new employee. I had to insist multiple times before he agreed to give me the invoice and diagnosis info. He insisted that they never give transparent quotes (though their Google ad states that they provide "Upfront & Transparent Pricing Always") and they can't make any money if they lower their prices and/or make bargains with their customers. He used manipulative sales tactics and regularly disregarded my direct questions with gaslighting and condescending comments about how businesses work. I was very direct and patient, and he consistently emphasized that prices can't be changed and parts are not able to be changed. I told him I didn't see value in his estimate of services required, and I didn't feel comfortable with them performing services with the untrustworthy manner in which he was behaving. I asked for clarity on the limited, shoddy notes written for the diagnosis, and he gave me little context. He brought up my partner's 1 star review, and stated that he wants us to take it down because his managers are going to question him on it. I said no, due to the entire experience we've had. Natural consequences follow harmful behavior. He then offered to pay for a second opinion from another company, give me 10% off, and to provide a higher-rating condenser if we would take off the review. I told him I felt they deserved the reviews for an honest accounting of our experience, and I don't feel that I can trust their business on all accounts. Thankfully, I happened to know some people with commercial HVAC experience who came out and gave us a second opinion. They found that there was a small leak in the evap coil and one incorrectly installed signal wire for the condenser. They fixed the leak, rewired the condenser, filled the system back up with refrigerant, and confirmed full operation. We now have fully working AC and only paid about $300 for the work. Clearly we've been taken advantage of, and I feel certain that if I hadn't stood my ground and gotten a second opinion, we would have spent an unnecessarily massive amount of money.

When we had to call late on a Saturday for some borderline emergency plumbing work, we braced ourselves, but we were SO HAPPY that we were fortunate enough to work with Taylor T. Again, we called late on a Saturday with low expectations - we discovered our main water valve was corroded shut while trying to install a new fridge water line (yikes). Taylor was scheduled with us for 8am on Sunday, the following morning (we were shocked anyone was available and it wasn't considered after hours). Taylor called about 15-30 minutes before arriving and he showed up precisely on time. He was EASILY one of the most professional and polished folks we've ever had work on our house, and he was just beyond pleasant. He examined our issue and talked us through what needed to happen. He had a reasonable quote prepped for us in minutes (it felt on par with prices I researched separately), and we also talked about a number of other plumbing things that we knew eventually needed to be taken care of. He was beyond knowledgeable, obviously trustworthy, and didn't judge us for all our questionable water hook ups. He put together a plan for us to come back the next day to complete the work. Fast forward to the next day, yet again, Taylor showed up right on time. He even was nice enough to go back to his team when we asked if it was too late to delay a little bit of the less urgent work. He did the work quickly and efficiently and we were over the moon with the results (my husband is telling anyone he sees that he can now turn off our house's water with his phone). Taylor even coordinated with our county water department to have our house's water turned off and on from the street, and that was a big pressure off of us. He needed to drill through our wall to run some power, and he did it in such a way that you can't even see it. Well, just when we thought our plumbing work was temporarily done, we discovered that the valve to the refrigerator was faulty. We called the office with low expectations (because, yet again, another urgent call), and imagine our surprise when they told us that Taylor could fit us in between calls. He showed up maybe an hour later if that and he completely retrofitted our entire fridge water line. Even though Taylor had to cut into dry wall to help us out, he left the work amazingly clean (I never even saw any dust or residue water...something we've experienced with other plumbers). He didn't just fix the water line, he made it more accessible. To top it all off, he helped us with shifting our old fridge in and out of the way, and the same for the new fridge...which he did NOT have to do. I can't stress this enough - he was just so NICE and friendly about it all, and he was laughing along with us about how he had been at our house three days in a row. My husband and I both agreed we want Taylor to do all our work moving forward. We finally feel motivated and trusting enough with Taylor to do some of the work we had been putting off. Truly, we could not have asked for a better person to be scheduled at our house! We'll be asking for him specifically when we call to schedule from now on. Taylor was even great with our little dog who is very shy, and he didn't seem to mind our big barky dog who stayed upstairs. The price for the work felt appropriate given the excellent, prompt, and thorough work we received from Taylor. I'm not sure if these photos will do the work justice, but he left everything in great shape and tested before he left. Thanks Taylor!! Vince at the office was also GREAT and so helpful!!

Well, here we are, much much later and literally years after Jim Needham, the owner of the company, assured me that an "investigation" was being done, and from when his worker told me he would "get back to me 'by next Wednesday'" and still no contact from anyone there after they tried to steal thousands of dollars from us by falsely saying our heat exchanger had cracks and leaks and had to be shut down. These days our HVAC motor seems to be experiencing some beating problems. Now, that makes sense, since now its been 10 years or so since we had the furnace installed. While you hope for more time from such a core part of your home's infrastructure, you can never be sure. So the question is, who ya gonna call when you're perhaps going to need a rebuilt or new furnace motor? For us, of course, the only absolutely positive 100% sure answer is . . . Not Jim Needham's. We're going to search hard to get the person who literally came out the day after Needham's tried to rip us off and who didn't charge us a penny when he told us our HVAC looked fine, and just to clean up and replace the filter. Isn't it weird that you remember the terrible experiences as sharply or even more clearly than you remember the good ones? I guess that's what makes us such a successful species when you look at this from an evolutionary point of view. The kudu who remembers that a movement in the nearby bushes when the wind is not blowing might be a leopard since it escaped one once under similar circumstances is more likely to survive and reproduce than the poor sucker of a kudu who simply munches away, having forgotten about the dangers of the jungle. Bottom line: it won't be Jim Needham's that we'll call (and I wish I was smart enough to remember the name of the great guy who did my free inspection so many years ago because I want to give him our business!). Stay safe out there, dear Yelp folks . . . And remember, there are lots of predators out there hunting for lazy kudus all the time. Sign me, David "keeping one eye open" M

Excellent service. When I first call Jim Needham Plumbing the person picked up the phone and said, "hi, how can we make you happy today" she already had, great salutation. I have a story but everyone has a story, Tyson was great and his support team were available to assistant via telephone. A diagnostic test revealed a perfectly good hot water heater (never before done by the several previous plumbers and three hot waters later). What was preventing me from having hot water for many years and several hot water heaters later? Birdies. (Tyson communicated with me and his team ever step of way, informing me of his observations, cost, type of materials, what he needed to do. Good communications) I had told every previous plumber before Tyson there was something in the pipes And NOT having even mentioned this to Tyson, this young man just started looking, listening, taking pictures, got on his latter took pictures and discoved a huge BIRDS NEST in one pipe (garage) and a smaller nest lodged further down a Z shape joint in the other pipe (inside house) that was preventing sufficient air flow, hence, no hot water. Birdies. I never mentioned this to Tyson. He also noticed the two pipes were exchanging airflow instead of emptying out in the air. Tyson was patience, diligent, did not waste any time looking for the problem, gathering materials (purchased), and skillfully cutting, retrieving the nest, reconstructing and correcting the direction of pipes. He worked!!! Skillful, proficient, efficient, nice, good communicator, even my dogs liked him. Yep He was early to job and great clean up. He also brought screen to cover the pipes to prevent any future problems (preventive maintenance). This young worked and I am so proud of him and this company for having solved this 20 years ongoing problem of not having consistent hot water. Thank you Tyson for taking the time to care. Thank you Jim Needham Plumbing. I highly recommend Jim Needham Plumbing

Long time customer here...but late one evening when my plumbing backed up and JN Plumbing didn't have any crews available, so I called another company. The other company created a mess in the next day And didnt solve the issue. Jim Needham plumbing came out and corrected the issues left by the prior company for 25% less. The prior company was completely inept, Lost their snake in the vent without being able to diagnose that he had never gone down the mainline, chose not to use the pipe clean-out that is on the mainline (never even asked if there was a clean out), never actually attempted to clear the blockage since they didn't know where the snake went and couldn't get a camera in the line, and still expected me to pay the full price for doing nothing plus reimburse them $400 for the snake they lost and cut off without my permission. Jim Needham arrived promptly the next day, found the missing snake and removed it easily, put a camera down my pipe and cleared blockages, and reset the toilet that had been left unattached in my bathroom by the other company. JN is not the least expensive company, but they are absolutely honest. Randy and his partner determined that they did NOT have to dig up my pipes as the first company claimed, then they explained what they were seeing to the second crew, Tyson and Darion, who retrieved the snake (went the extra mile to do it), cleared the blockages, and reset the toilet that never should have been pulled in the first place. In the end, their honesty and competence saved me thousands in unnecessary costs. Worth every penny, and the other reviews that complain about pricing must not have a grasp on the going rates for plumbing work by professionals and the headaches it can save.

I have been using Jim Needham for about a year now, and I'm going to keep using them. Why? Communication: I always know when they will be coming, they always show up within the service window and contact me before they arrive to make sure I am here and ready. Once they arrive they very clearly communicate exactly what they need to do and get my ok before the work is done. Looking out for me: The provider who installed my furnace (Not JN) did not install a safety feature designed to protect my furnace, so the Needham tech installed that for me. Now the furnace will be protected from water damage (instead of the originally supplied simple cut off switch located on the floor which would only activate AFTER water had drained from AC through furnace, damaging the furnace. Jeremy also pointed out how to install my furnace filter properly even though the original installer had done a bad job of building that out, so the filter has a problem staying in place. My furnace with filthy (as shown in pictures Jeremy provided) because the filter was not seating properly. I now know exactly what that filter placement should look like and how to keep it in place, in spite of the badly designed slot originally provided by the installer. Looking out for employees: Great employees: Each and every one of them have been polite, seem happy with their job, and informative. Tony, who came to replace my toilet couldn't say enough about how he is always getting training to update his skills. Jeremy also mentioned what a good company Jim Needham is to work for: he said that JN really takes care of the employees. I will stick with a company that cares for the employees and the clients.

I was very disappointed by Jim Needham Plumbing services and was told by two other reputable plumbers that I was being taken advantage of. I have never written a bad review before and I reached out to Jim Needham two separate times to respond to the below concerns over the course of 50 days. They chose to ignore their customer and never responded. So, I am pasting my exact email that was sent to them below for transparency to others that need a trusted plumber: "Thank you again for responding to my service request. I was told by your technician that this would be an extensive job, costing me over $1,000 to fix a small pinhole leak in a brand new line that was professionally installed ~ 18 months ago. Another reputable plumbing company was able to come verify this within hours and wrote the following to me: "It is completely up to you, but I would recommend putting Jim Needham on your do-not-call list and take them out of consideration for the HOA and other homeowners. There are 3 different ways to fix the root cause of the issue without any drywall or collateral damage. This job itself ended up taking less than 30 minutes and is completely fixed now." The job ended up costing me less than $100. Just to ensure the above statement was not a fabrication, I asked another reputable plumber to compare the assessed issue and recommended fix between your company and the one that ended up doing the work. He confirmed that there were 3 ways to fix the job without cutting into drywall and also believed your recommended fix and quote to be very far from the minimum work needed to fix the root cause. He felt that you were gouging me."

Two techs from Jim Needham Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Drain came out for a "free" furnace inspection, then told us our heat exchanger was cracked and likely to leak carbon monoxide--and that they were required by law to shut our furnace down because it was unsafe. (It was all of 20 degrees outside at the time.) Then they quoted us a price to fix it that was more than a new furnace. We called a family friend who's been in the HVAC business for decades and he said, "It's a scam. They make scratches in the dust and take pictures of it and say they are cracks." We told the Jim Needham techs we planned to get a second opinion and would be in touch. Then our family friend came out to help and went into the crawl space to turn our furnace back on, and the techs had left our furnace dismantled! He had to put the thing back together before he could turn it on. Once he got it running, he tested one of the vents for carbon monoxide, and it was all clear. Our furnace was running fine before and runs fine now. I'm embarrassed that we even considered paying this dishonest business almost $8,000 for a new furnace. Please avoid this company and beware of any similar activity--including I'd say free inspections. I hope others will learn from our mistake. (I still paid our family friend for his time, but that cost was one I was grateful to pay.)

Called these guys in to fix a mess another company left behind; literally, parts all over my basement and none of my HVAC systems functional. I called late on a Friday and they made it out first thing Saturday morning without even charging emergency/after hour fees. Tyler walked me through what he was doing, why he was doing it, and suggested preventative repairs without being pushy in the least. After ~2.5hrs, he had corrected all of the last company's unsound work, had everything functioning like new, and he provided before/after system readouts with my detailed invoice; giving me a record of exactly what corrective actions were made side-by-side with the impacts they had on the systems. I won't be calling any other company for future work. Note: the previous company told us that our systems (AC and humidifier) could not be repaired, that we needed to buy not only completely new systems but larger systems; claiming our 10yr old systems were undersized. The end result was Tyler getting everything up and running with a warranty for all work for less than 10% of the previous quote. If you are feeling scammed by a quote that doesn't pass the common sense test, call these guys to get a second opinion before committing to any seemingly excessive work!

We had a supply line leaking at a rental, called Needham on Saturday and was able to get them out within a few hours. Unlike many companies there was no minimum service charge for an estimate, which was good. Answering service called to give us a heads up that plumber would be there in half hour. Met the two plumbers that arrived outside and told them I'd stand by for an estimate (meanwhile another Needham truck with 2 more plumbers drove by). About 5 minutes later, lead plumber told me that it would be $450 to fix and that the water heater is 17 years old and needs replaced. The heater is only 11 years old and is otherwise in good condition (I.e. no sediment upon draining). I protested and said "Are you serious, for that?" To which he responded - "Well, there's a lot more to it than it looks like." I said no thanks and decided to tackle it myself. It literally took me 20 minutes to replace the part and another 25 to clean up and make sure the heater was working. So, even with amateur me doing it - the effective rate would have been ~$10/minute. We got another estimate from a licensed master plumber for $140, but they couldn't come out for a few days and we didn't want our tenants to wait that long. Be cautious and get multiple estimates.
