Had a great experience with Hicks Plumbing the past couple times we've needed there service. Specifically, Domingo who did really great work.

My regular plumber was out of town and he referred me to Hicks Plumbing Services due to a leak that needed to be pinpointed in my home ASAP, as my Leak Detection System had been activated and water for the house shut off. The crew showed up same day and quickly diagnosed the issue with a toilet seal. The guys listened, were friendly, helpful, professional and efficient. I would definitely recommend Hicks to others and would use them again in the event my regular plumber is not available.

Gouge plumbing and sub par work Screwed our plating in crooked which leaked and destroyed the plate and ruined our drywall…. Gouged us on pricing. for a grand we got shoddy work and about 35 minutes of their time.all while owner bragged about his riches and investments and properties ( you get the picture) while dropping his tools on our tub and tile.then,told his partner not to answer our questions as we weren’t paying for that particular service … we went under the crawlspace and found more subpar work too tore apart our insulation and wrap to instal a 4 “ pressure valve and left everything open upon exit …. Run as fast as you can from this company …

I called because of a problem I thought was the disposal. I got a text back and was never able to speak with anyone to ask my questions. Ever. Technician did not show up on time, but when he did come it was too late to do any work as I had to leave the house. The scheduler made an attempt to rectify by sending someone out on Saturday, waiving the $200 emergency fee. The technician, Tony (possibly Tony Hicks, based on reading reviews) arrived on time on Saturday but was quite rude, arguing with me that he could not quote me a price when the scheduler had already committed to a price. I asked him to leave, which he did. Maybe they do good work when they do the work but communication is terrible and frustrating for the customer, particularly on issues of pricing. When I texted the scheduler explaining what happened and stated I would be giving a one-star review, the scheduler replied, "We didn't do any work there and you don't have a receipt. I will contact my attorney for advice if you do that." That didn't stop me from giving my honest review of my bad experience with this company. Like others, I too, am surprised that they have so many 5-star ratings.

When my water heater went out on a Friday afternoon with guests arriving for the weekend, I discovered which plumber really was 24/7! While several businesses listed as 24/7 answered my telephone calls to say that they could make an appointment for Monday., only Hicks Plumbing said they could send someone right away. And they did, Tony Hicks not only came, but spend hours trying to fix the water heater. When he was unable to proceed because of needing information from the manufacture of the water heater, he explained all the possible causes and what needed to be done but said the work most likely couldn’t be completed until Monday. I accepted that he had given his best effort, and that he’d resume on Monday. However, when he got home, he continued to work on the problem (and it already was very late) and on Saturday morning, he was standing in line at the plumbing supply store. He called me to say that he had the part and asked if it would be convenient for me for him to come then and fix the water heater. And he did. Over the years, I’ve had good service, and I’ve had some not-so-good service from repair people, but nothing like this. It turns out that Tony owns the business and has 30 years of experience, but what he did for us goes far beyond that. Not only did I get above and beyond service, but also the water heater was repaired rather than having to be replaced, thanks to Mr. Hicks’ experience and knowledge.

I recently moved to Vienna and upon encountering a few plumbing issues in my home, I wanted to hire a local company to come do the work. I stumbled on Hick's Plumbing, based right here in town. From first contact, Christine made me feel like we were having a conversation among neighbors rather than a business transaction. She was patient in listening to all of my issues, and was honest with her scheduling availability. She even recommended another local company if I needed the job done immediately. Right there, I felt a degree of integrity that made me want to work with Hicks. They even offered free estimates on the work! I had a tight work schedule and Christine was incredibly understanding and scheduled me for a timeslot. Tony showed up exactly when he said he would, and the service got even better from there. When I explained the issues, instead of just quoting me a price and then charging me a ton, he explained that all of the issues were things I could do myself and could save a few bucks on by proceeding that way. He even showed me how to do it! This level of service and integrity is unbelievable in today's corporate approach to everything. Hick's has earned my trust, my business and my recommendation to anyone that needs plumbing help. They are an honest, local company, and worth a call for your plumbing needs as well!

I did not end up using this company's services due to an extremely high price quote. I needed a basic swap-out of a 1/3 HP garbage disposal—same exact model as the one being replaced, with no plumbing or electrical issues involved. The unit itself cost $95 on Amazon. When I called, I was told a technician would need to visit in person to provide a quote, but there was no obligation. Once the plumber arrived, he quoted me $650. When I mentioned I had already purchased the disposal, he offered to reduce the price to $550. He estimated the job would take 30 minutes, which works out to an hourly rate of $1,100—completely unreasonable for a straightforward task. After I declined, he spoke to his manager, who agreed to lower the price to $450 if they used my unit. Still, even at $450, that’s $900/hour for a half-hour job—or $450/hour if it took a full hour. In the end, I found a reliable company in Oakton that installed the disposal professionally for $150. I’m sharing this experience to help others be aware of potential price gouging. Do your homework and get multiple estimates.

An unexpected plumbing issue can send the heart rate soaring. I contacted Hick's Plumbing and spoke to Christine. She is kind, professional, and upfront. She explained the diagnostic process and the cost for that service, which was a few hundred dollars less than a competing company. Christine was able to schedule an hour window of service (not the standard four-hour block) for the following day. Tony then showed up promptly, performed the work, and finished by billing me the exact amount discussed with no haggling or upselling. I recommend Hick's Plumbing to anyone that desires quality work and fair pricing. As Christine and Tony own the business, they work to make sure the client's issues are fixed instead of "lining their own pockets". It is refreshing to know that a trustworthy company like Hick's Plumbing operates in the Fairfax area, and I highly recommend Tony to anyone who has plumbing needs.

Hick’s Plumbing (Tony & Christina) are the absolute best and have been the ONLY under and above ground plumbing contractor that I will use for the past 10 years. I manage Commercial Retail Real Estate (6 properties w/ 22 Retail Tenants) that includes Restaurants, Grocery & Convenient Stores, Dry Cleaners, Hair Salons …etc. Water and sewage are an integral part of all these businesses where any interruption will cause them to shut down until resolved. This is where HICK’S PLUMBING comes to the RESCUE EVERYTIME !!! Day, Night, Weekend, Rain, Sun or Snow, anytime we have had an issue from simple plumbing to complete underground sewer and water line repair or replacement Hick’s has been and always will be the ONLY people I trust to have my back and tenants best interest at heart. Calling and using them will be the best decision you will ever make.

I had two toilets installed. They were the 2nd best price of the 3 quotes I got (but close to the first). They came out and did a free quote where as two businesses I called wanted to charge me a service fee to come give me a quote that would be applied to my balance if I had them do the work. I was able to coordinate through email and text which was helpful since I regularly do not have phone service at work. Kevin was very nice, very professional, and we ran into a space issue that he was able to provide recommendations for rather than just leave it as our problem (which in this particular situations where we bought our own parts without measuring - it was our problem).

Called late on a Saturday afternoon/early evening for a leaking main shutoff valve. They answered promptly, took our info, and then had someone to our house all in less than 30 minutes. As a comparison, it took over 24 hours for another "emergency plumber", who we called first, to even call us back. Our problem turned out to be a very easy repair that I should have known how to do myself, but that's my fault not theirs. Also can't fault them for the repair cost because they told us upfront what the after-hours/weekend emergency "show up" rate was. I have some other plumbing work that I've been putting off and I will definitely contact them to get a quote.

I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Hicks, from the owner to the front office to the team in the field. On short notice heading into a holiday, the team responded quickly and tackled a major sewer line issue. They worked late after dark and came back again multiple times to ensure things were handled properly. And then they handled a significant excavation and replacement project on time and on budget. They also worked with us to secure reimbursement from the county based on their findings. They were responsive by phone, text, and email. And they were transparent on costs and timelines. I’d call them again in a heartbeat.
