I was extremely impressed with my recent first-time experience using Green Tech Plumbing. I worked separately with Bill, Jarrod, Declan, and Tim, all of whom were punctual, friendly, and provided honest feedback and did a great job. As a female home owner, I often dread home repairs that require a technician since I am frequently met with exaggerated estimates along with aggressive attempts to upsell maintenance service programs. Fortunately, this was not the case with Green Tech Plumbing. They performed the necessary work at a fair price and were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I highly recommend their services and intend to make Green Tech Plumbing my go-to plumber for any future needs.

Green Tech service is excellent. Their tech was very polite and quite knowledgeable. He gave me regular updates as some repairs took some additional work and took some time. But the work was completed to my complete satisfaction. Also their rates are reasonable too. Great service at a great price! I would highly recommend Green Tech for any plumbing work in the Chicago area.

We would not recommend Green Tech. They are very over priced for the overall work they did and while they fixed the problem, they created another problem. We will take blame for not checking this ourselves before they left. We let the service tech check things when it was our house and money. Suggestion for people needing a Plummer : 1) Get a quote first. 2) confirm/test that the solution was fixed at your satisfaction. You should double check their work before they leave.

Bait and Switch on Quoted Price and Unfair Billing Practices I hired this company based on the numerous positive reviews I had read, and was initially quoted $950 for a sump pump replacement. The initial service appointment immediately ran into a complication: * The technician did not have the necessary 2" to 1 1/4" pipe fitting/reducer for the job. * He attempted to reuse my old fitting. * After assembly, the sump pump leaked at the old fitting. * The technician apologized and explained he would have to return on a different day with the correct part. A few days later, the technician returned, installed the correct fitting, and then presented me with a second bill for $270. Since the return visit was solely due to the technician's lack of the correct part on the first visit, I questioned this charge. 1. I immediately called the company and spoke with an individual named Fred. 2. Fred acknowledged the situation and assured me that the matter was resolved, stating I was "all set and not to worry about any other charges." However, a week later, I received a call from Bill attempting to collect the $270. In this conversation: * Bill was immediately aggressive and seemed to be in a very bad mood. * He was dismissive, constantly cutting me off and refusing to let me fully explain the preceding events. * He went as far as to threaten placing a lien on my house over the disputed $270 charge. I remained respectful during the call, but there was simply no reasoning with Bill. This entire experience, from the technician's lack of necessary parts to the subsequent bait-and-switch billing and aggressive collection tactics, is unacceptable. Due to the company's lack of accountability and clear unfair billing practices, they will unfortunately no longer be my go-to choice for plumbing services. I hope this detailed review helps future customers avoid a similar experience.

True story regarding this establishment and you can decide for yourselves: On a brisk autumn morning, (for the purposes of anonymity we'll call him) Michael, a seasoned plumber with over fifteen years of experience in the field, received a call from Alex (or Alexi as my friends like to call me, named after the Stoyakavich twins from Brunswick, New Guinea), a long-standing client in a sweet and tidy well-established suburban neighborhood. My concern was straightforward yet urgent, so I needed someone to address them with care but yet AND ALARM: my families main bathroom toilet was not flushing properly, and with guests expected over the weekend (I planned on ordering food many times and sometimes they ask to use the bathroom - it has happened before), I was eager to have the issue resolved swiftly. Michael arrived promptly at 10 a.m., his toolbox in hand, greeted by me with my longstanding inside joke, where I am in overalls holding a plunger spinning in circles sayings "It's a me, a Mario!" As always Michael walked right passed me and said nothing. I followed him inside with a warm yet anxious smile. I have been twice divorced due to the issues I have caused with plumbing. As he stepped into my elegant home, I led him directly to the problem area: a spacious bathroom fitted with sleek, modern fixtures, like granite cabinets and dinosaur wall paper, but now marred by a malfunctioning toilet. First, Michael conducted a visual inspection, noting the model and make of the toilet, which was known for its water management being very efficient but it's having a complex dual-flush mechanism. He explained to me that these models, while excellent for saving water, could be tricky when it came to repairs due to their specialized parts and setup. I also have made several modifications to the toilet replacing parts to enhance its performance with items from e-bay, my garage, and a civil war memorabilia sale that unexpectedly contained many applicable items to toiletry harvesting and enhancement. (I do not ever disclose this to avoid being blamed and it's never mentioned but there's a chance he realizes and says nothing). With his flashlight, he inspected the tank's interior, checking for obvious signs of damage or wear. He pointed out to me how the water level was lower than expected, as well as not water at all, but rather a mix of sodium potassium, baking soda, and what appeared to be Pepsi or coke. I explained it was orange crush and that it had just become darkened from use. He said he initially thought it would be a possible issue with the fill valve or a leak in the tank, but now he was certain it was this. It was my modifications. I asked him to run a test just to be sure. He said he was certain but as always being very personable and easy to work with he obliged me. Using a color dye test, he added a few drops of harmless blue dye to the tank liquid. We observed the dye in the liquid for a few seconds and then I thanked him and we walked out and he installed a new toilet for me the next day. I can't recommend these guys enough. They always help me really well and I am tough customer due to eccentricity that's genius related and ballet inducing. Like meaning I know a lot about the ballet and I watch it a lot and could do it professionally. So I would give ten stars if I could. I highly recommend this establishment

I contacted Green Tech for a kitchen faucet installation. Kevin responded promptly, gave a very reasonable quote, was easy to communicate with, had a great sense of humor, and dispatched someone out to my house right away. Sean showed up right on time, was very polite, got right to work, finished replacing faucet, filtered water and two other small fixtures in a little over an hour. We were so happy with the beautiful outcome, workmanship, professionalism, and reliability. Funny story, this was our second go around with Kevin's crew. My husband had been procrastinating on replacing the plumbing fixtures for quite a while and was insistent on doing the work because he is handy and wanted to save the money. Eventually, keeping marital harmony in tact won and I contacted Green Tech. When my husband came home and saw the beautiful work that had been accomplished in a third of the time it would have taken him, he was so pleased. As we talked about who I had hired, my husband remembered that when we had had an issue with our plumbing about 2 years ago, we had Green Tech out to rot out our lines. I had not even realized we'd used them before. For that previous job, we experienced the same reasonable price, quality workmanship, professionalism, and reliability. Not only that, but they gave us great advice about the toilet paper we were using and we have not had an issue with our plumbing since! This was big news because it was becoming a semi annual headache having to rot out our plumbing twice a year. This is such a wonderful example of above the bar integrity. Here is my advice to other Yelpers-hire Green Tech-you won't be disappointed!

Gas was shut off because the Gas Company detected a leak on the building piping. I called a plumber with high ratings because they were close. The charge was $65 to look at the job and give me an estimate. The estimate was $900. I wanted them to repair the pipes identified by the Gas company I called Green Tech because I thought they were on Grace Ave and were close. At first they said we were out of their zone. After getting more info Green Tech said they said a plumber would be at our location within the hour. I was quoted an hourly fee. Green Tech sent Roland. Roland listened to what pipes I wanted him to try to repair. I had already installed a pressure gauge on the end of the line at the stove. The pipes were quickly repaired including adding a union, replacing a couple nipples. Retested and there was still a drop in pressur. Old gas valve in kitchen was replaced and tested again. Drop was very low so he recommended calling the Gas company to retest. The gas company came back and found there was still a slight leak however in order to not go into the walls they took a closer look at the old gas gang valves for the dryer that passed a bubble test. They said that there could be an internal leak in the valve. After replacement the loss of pressure was halted. Roland charged for one hour. Roland listened to what I wanted to try before going into the walls. Plumbers who listen to the customers are well worth the hourly fee. I would trust green tech for other plumbing services and will gladly pay the hourly rate over some off the wall estimate.

I recently had Green Tech Plumbing out to install a new sump pump and backup system, and I wanted to share a balanced review after reflecting on the experience. The plumber who came to my home was outstanding; he was knowledgeable, selected the right check valves, and executed the installation flawlessly. The technical work was impeccable, and I’m very satisfied with the quality of the sump pump setup. I’m truly glad I selected this company for the job itself. However, my overall experience fell short in a few areas, particularly around communication, pricing, and customer service from the office. The pricing seemed quite high compared to my expectations, and I wasn’t provided with clear upfront information about all aspects of the service. For instance, I ended up registering the pumps for warranty myself, only to later realize that the company actually handles that process, but this was never communicated to me during scheduling, quoting, or the installation. The office staff interactions also weren’t the most pleasant or proactive, which added to my frustration. The plumber was professional and friendly on site, but it’s unfair to expect him to fill in those communication gaps from the office side. In summary, Green Tech delivers excellent fieldwork, but potential customers should ask lots of detailed questions in advance about pricing, what’s fully included in the service, and any steps (like warranty registration) that they manage on your behalf. Greater transparency from the office would go a long way toward improving the customer experience.

I had a couple problems with my kitchen sink and a leaking garbage disposal. I asked for a quote via yelp and 5 other local companies were sent a quote request by yelp. Green Tech responded right away with a price. All the other companies prices were either extremely unreasonable or the other companies would show up very late or cancel on me for their "free estimates" that they wouldn't do over the yelp app. I called Green Tech to set up an appointment and they were able to set up an appointment with me that day and within a couple hours. My plumbers name was Kyle. He was extremely professional, knew exactly what he needed to do and seemed to be very knowledgeable. He was quick, clean, and extremely quiet. Kyle was so quiet in fact my 2 year old son napped the entire time he was here cutting and replacing pipes with his saws and wrenches. Kyle cleaned up after himself and gave me a full explanation of what he did, and gave me a couple pointers about my old garbage disposal. Not only was Green Tech's estimate the best price out of the 6 companies contacted the final bill actually came under their estimated price. 5 star review. I've put a lot of work and money into my Fixer upper house and this one small fix has been one of my best experiences. No joke. Thank you Green Tech and thank you Kyle.

Update: I received a call to make this right and they did. So I've updated my review because they did the work for the agreed upon amount, were professional, polite and fixed the issue. So many 5 star reviews, when I had a plumbing issue the handyman couldn't resolve I had to call. So I did and was quoted $400 (at most) parts and labor for a shower drain leak and slow constant drop from the shower head. Fast forward to the scheduled repair day and the plumber that came was very close to the scheduled time, so that was a plus. Then I showed him hat was needed and he said the other gentlemen that came out for the estimate had already told him the same that I did. Two hours later repairs are complete and now I'm hit with a bill over $600. When I told him the estimate was $400 at most he just said he didn't know and it would be over $600. I am disappointed he wouldn't have told me the bill would be higher the moment he knew and not hit me at the end with a big increase. Parts were $138, the total was $636. That means labor was almost $250 an hour, that is extremely high, even for plumbers. Anyway, the repair seems to be done correctly and hopefully if there are any issues they stand by their work.

Green Tech Plumbing is still my go-to for my plumbing needs. I had another clogged kitchen sink episode (when will we learn?) and tried unclogging it myself with a snake, plunging (doesn't work, since we have a vent), baking soda/vinegar for a nice little volcano, and gave up. We got an appointment the next day with Green Tech Plumbing. The person on the phone was friendly and told us Josh will be there tomorrow. Josh came a few minutes early and was friendly, courteous, personable, and professional. Very cool guy. We explained the situation and after he briefly took a look at things, came back with his plumbing colonoscopy equipment and got to work. He put on plastic drapery for the surgery, to make sure there wasn't a mess, which was a nice touch. Easier than a colonoscopy, the clog was conquered in no time. He explained how clogs form/accumulate and was very informative on the situation. Again, another 5-star review. As of time of writing, they are still offering a Yelp discount, so that was a nice touch to a pricy (but comparable to other places) bill. No more body parts down the drain... I'll be using the trash can instead from now on.

We moved into our home a month ago and as soon as we closed we unfortunately discovered a gas leak that just wouldn't go away. We hired a different plumber that was referred to us. He charged us an arm & a leg and ultimately didn't fix the problem. I found Green Tech on Yelp and asked them to come in as soon as they could. Mark Smith arrived today right on time for his appointment, and within 20 minutes was able to find the leak and fix the issue that we had been experiencing for AN ENTIRE MONTH. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable, and was very proud to work for the company. Mark stayed until Nicor came to inspect to make sure the job was done and the entire process took 45 minutes. The cherry on top was that their rate was extremely fair - they charge hourly instead of nickel and diming for labor and parts, so we paid a fraction of what we had been charged previously by the other plumber. We wish we would have called Green Tech much sooner but we're so glad we found a reliable plumbing service for future needs. This gas leak had been an absolute nightmare and we're so happy and relieved that it is finally resolved.

Green Tech was one of the many companies who responded to my Yelp post for sewer rodding. They answered questions directly and gave me a price for their service and what was included. I ended up calling their main number and talked to Bill, he got scheduled the same day. A plumber came out that afternoon and rodded out the main drain. That night, the main drain backed up again, so I called the following morning at 6:50am. Bill called me back right at 7:00am, knew me by name even though I didn't leave a message. He said he would send someone out by 10:00am that same day. Richie ended up being at our house by 9:00am. He proceeded to rod out the main drain, alternating cutting bits each time until he finally broke through. He sent the camera and showed me the footage to the street sewer, so I knew it was fully cleared. Although not ideal to have the sewer back up again, it is nice knowing how a company responds to a situation like that, if and when it happens. Bill is great on the phone and Richie was amazing. My experience with these two guys gives me a lot of confidence in the company and would use them again.
