What To Watch Out For
Pricing significantly higher than market rate: 3 reviews document quotes 2-3x above competitor pricing for identical work ($1,400 vs $550 for bathroom fixtures; $3,500 diagnosis later solved for $50; $600 quote for 10-minute cartridge replacement).
Diagnostic accuracy issues: 2 reviews report incorrect initial assessments (roof clog misdiagnosed as major plumbing issue; water pressure problem attributed to shut-off valve and faucet cartridge when filter cleaning was the actual solution).
Pricing transparency concerns: 2 reviews mention lack of upfront clarity on costs, with one noting plumbing companies should 'be more transparent with their pricing especially when you ask about a specific service over the phone.'

We requested a service call on Monday morning and a technician called us before noon. He came, routed the pipe, cleaned up and was gone in an hour. Frank , our technician, was very professional and informative. Would recommend him and Goode to everyone.
Jon H was great! He did an amazing job explaining what was going on (I have no clue about anything plumbing). I highly recommend him for all plumbing services and will be contacting him again in the future if needed! Thank you.
This is my second time working with Goode Plumbing and all three technicians were great. This was also my second time working with Nick, and he is the best. I really appreciated that he patiently explained everything to me, answered all my questions (sometimes more than once!), until I clearly understood all of my options. I also appreciated that he gave me multiple quotes at different price points, so I could make an educated decision about investing more upfront, or putting off some work until later. The day after the shower repair, I had a general contractor patch up the wall and install an access panel, per Nick's recommendation. Even the GC said "they did really good work". I hope I don't need them for a good long while, but I will be calling Goode for my next plumbing need.
Called for plumbing service. They were very nice and prompt and everyone I talked to seemed knowledgeable. Got a quote for $3,500 to fix our problem. Yikes! The diagnosis didn't really seem like it made sense to me, and I wasn't a out to shell out that much without more investigating, so I did some more research and decided to check a few things. Turns out I was able to diagnose the issue myself, a 40 something mom of two jumped up on a ladder, went on the roof, and within minutes found the clog that was the source of my issues! $50 later my problem was fixed by a more more reasonable plumber with a power rooter. Im thankful I decided to to investigate more before spending that much hard earned money. I dont necessarily think they were trying to mislead me, but it was a major miss in terms of a diagnosis. I would have been incredibly upset had I spent 3,500 and not solved the issue. This is in line with the experience another yelper had recently.
Recent experience with Goode Plumbing was rather bad. The plumbing team that arrived did not have the correct materials, which we only discovered when they had installed a high pressure mains water valve to with the incorrect gasket, having not prepared the flanges on the existing pipes correctly. This resulted in the joints having serious leaks which, we had to leave in-place over-night while they got the materials to rectify the mistake. Given this was the mains water supply to an entire apartment building this level of preparation was not what we expected, and we are lucky it did not result in a catastrophic failure. For the price paid I expected the best, and that is not what I received.
Tl;dr: DO NOT USE GOODE. This company was dishonest, misleading, horrible with communication, and jeopardized the sale of our home. Our experience with this company was an absolute nightmare, and we want to share our experience so others can avoid making the same mistakes we did in trusting Goode. We hired Goode to replace a flood control system while we were in the process of selling our house. Their quote was $2K higher than another bidder but we chose them for their reputation. They started the job the day before the home inspection and absolutely tore up our front yard and paver sidewalk. The existing flood control was to the side of the sidewalk, but the hole they dug was about 5 times larger and directly in front of our front steps. That hole remained there for over 5 weeks. Nothing was disclosed upfront about the destruction of the front yard and sidewalk, and we spent $900 repairing the damage they caused. They also told us on this first day that the manhole cover may be directly in the middle of our sidewalk. Even the guys digging the hole said this should have been explained to us. We battled with Goode for weeks and ultimately the cover was placed just to the side of the repaired sidewalk. The project was then paused while we waited for the City to inspect the project and issue the permit. Finally we were told the permit was granted and the hole would be filled in, but only *after* an electrician came out to run a new line. Nothing about electric was disclosed to us previously and running a new line would require opening up drywall in our basement. We also had to coordinate separately with the electrician to make the appointment, and he was backed up so it took over a week for him to come to the property. When he finally came by, no one from Goode showed up to remove the cover over the giant hole so we had to wait another week for him to come by again. Ultimately the job turned out to be simple and we waited 3 weeks for the electrician to do a 1 hour job that required no access to the home. In the meantime, in response to our buyers' concerns, we called Goode nearly daily to fill in the massive hole in our front yard. They finally said they could fill most of the hole while leaving an opening for the remaining electrical work. After the hole was partially filled, guess who showed up at the property? The City, because Goode had not secured permits after all. This caused another delay while we waited to actually get the permit from the City. The City finally approved the permit on a Friday morning, when we were moving out of the property the following Tuesday morning. Goode refused to fill the hole until Monday, which meant the yard and sidewalk repair would need to be done after we'd moved out of the state. This ultimately worked out with the help of our realtor but was a giant pain in the neck and huge stressor in an already stressful situation. But you know what Goode is timely about? Collecting its bill. The very next day after they finally filled the hole, while we were driving cross-country to our new house, Goode called asking for its payment. We explained how unhappy we were about the handling of the project and asked them to make it right. They ultimately reduced the cost by $500, which did not even cover the repair of the undisclosed yard and sidewalk damage. But our hands were tied as we needed to provide an invoice to our buyers before closing. Bottom line: Goode is no good! Do not use them and if you do, be prepared for rampant miscommunication, dishonesty, and completely preventable delays.
We hired Goode in 2014 to install a flood control system for our single family home. The system consisted of a large ejector pump located outside under the front yard. While the field technicians appeared competent, progress was slow and management of the project was lacking. For example, once everything was installed, the project sat incomplete for several weeks with an unsightly orange AC extension cord running from our home across the lawn down to the pump. When we followed up with Goode, they appeared unaware of the issue and eventually sent out an electrician to finish the job. Also, the contract called for grass sod to be laid down upon completion, but the technician didn't bring enough sod, telling me that I could just plant grass seed on the remaining bare areas. I insisted they sod everything, per the contract. They obliged, but grudgingly. Sadly, that made our relationship with Goode feel not so much cordial as adversarial. The flood control system came with three years of free yearly maintenance and worked great. When the three years had passed, a Goode representative sold us a lifetime VIP pump and pit maintenance contract for a single upfront fee. We were pleased as the annual inspections otherwise ran in excess of $300. Unfortunately, when we tried to collect on the VIP service the following year, Goode explained that the contract applied only to indoor flood control systems, e.g., basement sump pumps, and not the system under our front yard. When I explained that we had no basement sump pump, that the VIP service was sold explicitly for our yard system, Goode then told us that the contract was sold to us by mistake. Mistakes happen right? We told Goode they could refund our money on the VIP contract and we would take our business elsewhere. Goode responded by agreeing to honor the lifetime contract. Good! I wish I could say that was the end of it, but in subsequent years Goode would periodically argue that the contract did not apply to our system, or that we had no service contract at all, obliging us to dig into our paperwork and email exchanges to prove to Goode that we indeed had a valid service contract. Once again, our relationship with Goode seemed adversarial. Which brings me to our latest experience with Goode this week. Per usual we scheduled the annual inspection (unlike other service providers we work with, we always have to make the call as there no courtesy reminder from Goode), and once again the technicians came out and attempted to collect $350 for the covered service, claiming that Goode had no record of either the service contract nor of having installed the flood control system in the first place. I told the technicians to talk to the office again, which they did, and eventually got the word that yes, Goode indeed installed the system and we had a lifetime maintenance contract. When the inspection was complete, the technicians advised me that our 10-year-old ejector pump was due to be replaced for $2,400. Fair enough, but still annoyed by the contract dispute that just occurred, I told them I wasn't going to make a decision now. Alas, later that day we received emails and a phone call from Goode wanting to know if we were going buy that pump. Talk about tone deaf.
So I'll give Goode three stars because the equipment they installed and the work was pretty good, or I assume it is--really, only time will tell, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt. But I have to knock off a couple stars because they are simply expensive as hell. I called about a starting-to-fail ejector pump. They sent someone right over that day which, in retrospect, should have been my first clue. Two guys showed up; only one spoke to me. What he went right off the bat into was more of a sales pitch than a description of the problem and the solution. He even talked about joining some VIP service they have even before talking about the specifics of the job at hand. Uh huh. OK. For replacing the ejector pump, valve, and some related items, the cost was on the order of $1,700. Mmmm, that's a lot, and I considered just paying the $60 for the visit and taking a chance on getting another vendor in to bid on the job. But, the pump was starting to fail, and knowing firsthand the pain and agony of a flooded basement, I decided to bite the bullet and go through with the job which, really, that's gotta be central to their business model, right? Get people at that sweet point they have to say yes to their services or else? Now, again, the work seems to be acceptably good, but like I said, the price. They installed a Metropolitan MHP-20160 which you can get online for something like $360 (sumpdirect.com/ion-techn...). You gotta figure, Goode ain't paying more than that for the piece. Maybe a couple hundred extra for some ancillary items they have to install along with it, like valves and the like. So I would guess we're talking maybe $550 or so for materials. They charged $1,700 for the job. That would be a 200+% markup. Now, I understand labor costs and the like as much as the next reasonably-educated lay person, so when I get the bill, and it says, basically, "$1,700, pay me," I'm like ... hmmmmm. I emailed the company and asked, can you send me a line item invoice breaking out labor, extra charges, etc.? I've hired a lot of companies to do repair stuff around my house, so that's pretty common. Their reply? "Hello, We do not itemize invoices." Well. You don't say. Now, I will say once more, the work seemed pretty good, so far, and as far as I can tell, so no complaints about that out of the chute. So if you're someone for whom money is no object, then Goode Plumbing should be as good as any other company with a 4-star overall Yelp rating to satisfy your plumbing needs. However, if you're like the rest of us, for whom money is decidedly an object, then if you have the luxury of a little time, you might want to shop around your plumbing business to some of the other majors to see whether you can get work as good as or better than Goode for less money. Because I'll bet you can.
We had water leaking from our first floor bathroom to the lower level and called Goode plumbing. Two plumbers came out and told us that there was an issue with the overflow drain in our bathtub - We could either leave it and not fill the bathtub too high, or get it repaired for $2000 (including $400 to cut a diagnostic hole in our ceiling that they don't repair). We are new homeowners so we opted for the repair. Shortly after the repair was complete, the ceiling began leaking again, and it was worse. Parts of the ceiling where they cut the hole also started to collapse. I called them back and they sent two different plumbers who said that the problem was now the toilet, not the bathtub, and we would need to pay another $2000 to have that repaired. I asked to speak with someone about why we were being asked to pay another large sum of money when the first, "repair", did not fix the leak. Well, it took four days to get a call back from the first plumber despite me calling every day and explaining that water was leaking in at least 3 different places in our ceiling and that the ceiling was falling down. There seemed to be absolutely no sense of urgency or consideration for this whatsoever, and I just kept being told the technician would get back to me. The first plumber eventually called me back and told me that it was "coincidentally" a different problem occurring in the exact same place at the exact same time as the issue that they fixed. Also that the repair he did was necessary, even though he told us at the time that it was not. Needless to say, I did not feel comfortable having them come back to do another repair when the first one was unsuccessful, and they were unwilling to provide any kind of acceptable customer support. I called our regular handyman (Should have just gone to him in the first place!) and he was able to complete the repair for $400 total, including a brand new toilet. Please avoid this place, they are untrustworthy, overcharge, and do not care about their customers after they have gotten their money. They sure do spam you about leaving good reviews though!
We had massive rains and my basement flooded for the first time ever. We were panicked, we clearly had lost a lot of cherished items we'd stored on the floor. It was terrible. Worse, there was a slim chance our flood insurance might not cover it. We were pulling our hair out with worry. Enter Goode Plumbing. Goode sent a camera down our pipes to the city main to show that our system was free from roots or other maintenance problems. Insurance would cover it. But more rain was due by the end of the week. In fact, our basement did flood again! It was a horror show with water and mud and . . . stuff . . . everywhere. We realized we needed preventative measures so Goode sent Ian and Frank who very graciously ignored our mess and set to work on our draining system. And man, what a job they had before them! Our house is 83 years old and we're pretty sure it was plumbed by aliens-everything is the wrong size, everything is in the wrong place, everything is just weird. Frank and Ian had to dig pretty deep into the floor but the eventually excavated the ancient fittings and valves, replaced them, smoothed over our floor, and made it look like nothing had ever happened. The water mitigation people came and cleared out everything to the studs. Then it rained again. Hard. Water standing in the street. My back yard was a lake. Exactly the same conditions as when we flooded before. I went down to the basement fearing I'd find a brand new indoor pool but instead I found a perfectly dry floor. Frank and Ian worked with great respect to conditions imposed by the pandemic, and with great respect for our old house. They kept me in the loop when they had to leave for parts and they checked in with me to make sure everything was fine. Goode explained the bill with great care and consideration. I didn't call them first. I've been using the same plumber for 20 years. But he's retiring and suggested I call Goode. Do you know how hard it is to find a trade worker you feel comfortable with? Goode stepped into that gap with confidence and professionalism. I'm so glad I called them!
Communication within the company is horrifyingly nonexistent. Was dealing with insufficient water getting into my dishwasher so two techs came out, told me they could fix the issue in the moment for $350. Turns out that work was not able to fix the issue and they needed to come back when the hot water could be turned off throughout the entire building for another repair that would cost me an additional $350. Arranged for techs to come out on a Monday morning, and the person who showed up was not a tech but rather someone from Goode who was going to "assess what needed to be done" to determine when they could send people out to fix it. All despite me already having this assessment done and confirming and approving the work. So he had to send out completely different techs than those who were here for the original "fix." And when they showed up they told me it was *MY* responsibility to have turned off the hot water throughout my entire building - not their responsibility, despite this NEVER being communicated to me by Goode. They get the water turned off and when they finished their work I was assured TWICE by Goode that they had turned the hot water back on. Well they had in fact NOT turned the hot water back on so the ENTIRE condo building was without hot water. I called their emergency line and they advised their on-call tech could come out and turn it back on - he never came and there was never a single follow-up communication from Goode to me about whether someone was coming out to fix the issue that evening or not. So my condo building had to have a DIFFERENT plumber come out on an emergency call for which I am now going to be charged - all because of Goode's incompetency. And I have called to tell them they will be paying for the emergency call bill because of their error, their miscommunications, and their mess-up - NOT mine - and they would not even take my complaint because it had to go to "management."
I had service on 11/29 . Antonio was the worker who contacted me. I was quoted $700.00 to replace a shower cartridge which I thought was too much but I was away from home and wanted my shower working. I agreed because I was 43 miles away working. I was then told the entire shower valve would have to be replaced and the risers would be replaced also. I requested ball valves to be install for shutoffs. I was quoted $2699 which I thought was way too much but the risers would be replaced and I was away from home. I agreed to the price. I was told later that the risers couldn't be replaced because went too far down the wall. A new shower valve and trim kit were installed. I was told the job was done and provided payment over the phone job unseen because I was still working. When I got home and inspected the job, I saw a huge hole in the closet where the access to the pipes was visible. There was minimal cooper replacement of the plumbing. Approximately 2-3 feet of work leaving most of the existing galvanized pipe untouched. No shut off ball valves were install as discussed, which was possible. Other galvanized sections that could have been replaced were not. With the Moen shower valve and trim kit and fittings, I couldn't see more than $500 in parts and that is being generous. I was never given a downgraded price for the downgraded work preformed. I feel I was taken very much advantaged of with the price charged for the work performed. A few days latter I received a text message from Lexus requesting a review of Martin D. who I didn't know. I called to discuss the matter and talked with Jake the manager. He said usually a job of replacing a shower valve was only $1350.00 and he would have to look into the work. I told Jake that I'm planning to leave my experience on Yelp but I thought I would contact him first for some sort of resolution to the experience. Jake or Goode plumbing never responded
During the cold weather of February, one of my kitchen sinks would not drain. My husband attempted to fix it by cleaning the trap, but that did not solve the problem. On recommendation of a friend, I called Goode Plumbing. They made an appointment for the next day and indicated that there was a $60.00 service call charge for coming out. The plumber that arrived was very professional and seemed like a genuinely nice person. After commenting that he was seeing alot of frozen pipes because of the extreme cold, I was quoted $489.00 to rod my sink. As we had several leaky faucets and toilet issues, I also asked the plumber to quote me a price on while he was in my home before we got to the kitchen sink. The quotes ranged from $523.00 - $784.00 for each repair which seemed quite pricey. I was assured that I could receive a discount on this price by joining their program or if I was going to do all of the work the owner would give me a better rate. I was told that he had already asked dispatch for the owner to call me, so I should get that price shortly. To date, I have not received a call or email with that "better rate". As for the sink that wouldn't drain, the plumber went out to his truck and came back to the house with a second plumber and some tools. In short order, they told me that the tool would not rod all the way through and likely my pipe was frozen. The plumber indicated that he was very sorry but since they had already done the rodding, they would have to charge me. I did follow up with Goode Plumbing about this charge, without response. My issue is that since the plumber knew that pipes were freezing because it was so cold outside, shouldn't he have looked at that first as part of the service call before charging me $489 for rodding a pipe that did not need to be rodded? That seems wrong. Beyond that, and seemingly being quite pricey, no issues.
I can't even begin to describe the gratitude and respect that I have for Goode Plumbing. My husband and I moved into a home (as first time homeowners) a few months ago and soon noticed a sewer gas odor. The odor was hard to pinpoint and would come and go. Over roughly a month, we literally called 4 different plumbing companies to come investigate. Every single company shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't figure it out. We eventually called Goode Plumbing and they were the first and only company that was truly invested in solving the problem for us. They quickly sent multiple plumbers to our house to investigate. Alex was the first to come by to investigate and was extremely empathic about our problem. He really listened and communicated Goode's commitment to fixing the issue. Drew came by next, and did extensive testing to examine our sewer system. He was thorough, really interested in the case, and went above and beyond doing a series of tests (including camera and smoke tests) to find a solution. Finally, Drew called in Brian who is the "Yoda" of Goode Plumbing. Brian has extensive experience over many decades, has a surgical precision to his craft, and really does methodically examine all possibilities until he reaches a diagnosis. A number of tests and a few open walls later, he found the problem!!! We had a wide open pipe coming up from our main drain line behind the wall in our mechanical room (pictured) and also a screw that was drilled right through the PVC piping. It has now been a week since Brian fixed this problem for us and our home smells so nice and fresh and clean. I also had nasal congestion for over a month that is now magically cleared up. Goode plumbing was an absolute LIFESAVER and they will have our endless thanks and patronage.
I had Goode Plumbing come out to assess my water heater after some nearby water damage caused it to stop working. While my water heater is on the older side (8 years), I expected a professional opinion on whether it could be repaired or needed replacement. Instead, the technician barely looked at it before immediately recommending a full replacement -- without even attempting to diagnose or fix the issue. I asked about tankless options, and he became very enthusiastic, saying my setup was perfect for a tankless unit and that he could install one that same day. I told him I needed time to think about it, but instead of giving me space, he proceeded to call me multiple times throughout the day, each time more aggressively pressuring me to move forward with the install. Thankfully, I got second and third opinions from other plumbing companies. Not only were they able to get my existing water heater up and running again in under 5 minutes (yes, it was that simple), but they also told me my condo setup was not suitable for a tankless water heater due to the lack of a fresh air intake -- a critical requirement. They even explained that some companies install tankless units improperly just to make a sale, which voids the warranty and puts the customer at risk down the line. Goode didn't even attempt a repair, misrepresented my setup, and used high-pressure sales tactics to push a costly and inappropriate solution. I'm relieved I didn't fall for it. I would not recommend this company -- they were lazy, aggressive, and clearly more interested in upselling than providing honest, competent service
