What To Watch Out For

Pricing transparency failures across multiple 1-star reviews: one customer quoted $450 then charged $661; another says $847 billed for one hour of work; a third paid for a water heater flush that other plumbers charge $50 for (themeCounts.surprise_fees=1, themeCounts.expensive=3).

Tech knowledge gaps cited in 1-star review: water heater inspection missed anode rod entirely and tech misidentified it as a return plug, indicating possible subcontractor quality variation.

We noticed dampness in the basement wall. Antonio did leak detection and found a hidden pipe issue. He repaired it right away, saving us from bigger damage. I was very thankful for his thorough work.

We were extremely pleased with the top-notch service we received from Gaithersburg Plumbing Pros, particularly thanks to Berto's reliable and friendly demeanor, as well as Christopher's expert handling of the toilet replacement, which included installation of a new flange and shut off valve. From scheduling to completion, the whole experience was seamless, timely, and professional, leaving us feeling confident in the team's ability to tackle any emerging plumbing issues, whether unexpected or routine.

Christopher was responsive and very thorough in diagnosing my problem. He came out the same day and thoroughly explainedwhat needed to be done. He was on time, very professional and left my house clean. I will definitely use Gaithersburg Plumbing pros in the future.

Short story: The worse service I have ever received. Lower than industry service with higher then industry level charge. Just stay away and find someone trustworthy. I looked into other low rating reviews and there seems to be a pattern of misleading customers with prices and later charge way over. Long story: Plumber came to check my water heater. He did not check anything except flushed the heater, a $50 job if you with other plumbers. When I asked about the anode rod, he told me it was a return plug for commercial use of the heater. He had no idea what else needs to be inspected and checked in the water heater. Also he had no idea how much services cost, so while I reported that not everything was checked, plumber said he does not handle billing. Promised me it will be all sorted out over a phone with billing. I made huge mistake and accepted the job. So plumber came spent 30 minutes and rushed away home, it was his last call for the day. No wonder he did not want to check the rest. Very unprofessional. However, this is not it… while job was barely done, I was charged full price $500 for a 30-min job. After seeing the charge I got in touch with the plumbing company. Oh man… how unprofessional they are: it takes several emails and phone calls to actually get someone to respond. And I forgot, he did not close the drain valve properly so I had to get someone to finish the job. Note, They have refunded portion of the charge after a lot of back and forth. It still was $300 to drain the water heater.

Had two small pinhole leaks in cold water supply to guest bathroom. The charged me $175 to come out and give me an OUTRAGEOUS estimate. $499 PER LEAK!!! A thousand dollars for maybe a foot of copper pipe, 4 couplings, and a hours work for anyone competent. I see why they charge the $175 up front. Only the most desperate customer would put up with their business practices. Not me.

Let me start off with some of the good. First of all plumbing pros are fast to respond and get someone out to your house to do the work. All communication is done on the phone and from what I understood they dont want to waste time sending someone out to give you an estimate. Now for the bad: The installer that was send out looked like a sub contractor. He showed up by himself and did not prep the area with any drop cloth. He struggled to manipulate 50 gal water heater by himself and in the process scratched my flooring in the basement. Also, I didnt find him professional because he did not clean the area after himself and simply stuffed things in the corner with trash that was under the old water heater. He used trash bags to collect water from pipes. Furthermore, his labor seems to be fine on the actual installation. We have to wait and see if it will actually last. Second, the guy who works the office his name is Lance. Who is extremely nice until you try to dispute their overcharges. When Lance called and told me that the job would be around 2,000$ plus tax I told him ok. Than he called to collect my card number and said it was 2100$. A day later I received an email saying I was charged 2236$. When I called to find why I was overcharged I was given an attitude and Lance acted very unprofessional. He threatened me with coming over and taking back their water heater and initially refused to refund the difference. The refund is being issued apparently and I am waiting to see when I get it. Lastly, if you ask me would I recommend this company to you? I would say definitely NOT! They are only nice when they want your money and they fast to charge your card for what they feel fit. They unprofessional and rude. Their installer speak little english and are not concerned about your property. In my case it was an emergency since my heater leaked water. But if I knew what I know now I could have had a real company do a much better job for the same money. And Lance you need some more training in how to be a professional and deal with customers instead of your empty threats.

BE AWARE!!! I live in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I called this business on a Saturday because my kitchen sink drain was leaking. I was told that if a plumber were to come to my house during the weekend, there will be an extra cost of $175.00, as a service call. However, if I was to wait to a week day, this cost would be waived, and I would only be charged the cost of the work. I waited until Monday to call again, and a plumber came to my house and fixed the problem with very little difficulty in less than one hour. I was then charged, $422.91. When I asked for an invoice and I was told to call the company. I called the company, and when I asked for the actual cost of the job, specific hourly rate for labor, and charge for the parts, I was told that "they do not breakdown either item and that they use a set fee." I then, requested an invoice, and I was told that it would be sent to me. It is over a month now, and I have not receive the invoice yet. The business ethics practiced by this company borders on being deceitful, unfair, and improper. I already filed a complaint with the Best Business Berau (BBB) too

I am surprised to see so many 5-star reviews. My husband called Gaithersburg Plumbing Pros to have them remove and replace two standard toilets. GPP sent two men from Solow Plumbing, but they didn't bring the replacement toilets as they claimed they thought the visit was simply for removal of the toilets. With no replacement toilets, we of course couldn't have them remove our two existing toilets to leave nothing but gaping holes in the ground, so instead the two men from Solow threateningly charged us $95 for the visit, which lasted no more then ten minutes. Clearly there was a breakdown in communication somewhere, but this whole fiasco left me stunned and disappointed. Charging for no services rendered is not the way to go. We didn't even get a receipt for the charge. For further understanding, I attempted contact through their web form and am awaiting to hear back. EDITED TO ADD: I appreciate the response, but Mallick Plumbing came by for a diagnostic visit, was very thorough, and charged us nothing. Please let me know who I can contact for a receipt for the $95 that we paid.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are not honest, they steel the customer money and they are not professional. I requested to have them and repair a water leakage from a fire sprinkler and they informed me that they charge $175 per service that will be applied to the repairs cost once they come and diagnose the issue. They sent a technician 4 hours late, then the technician find that it is only a very simple extension that needs to be taken out. The technician informed me that the labor cost is $120 and he bought materials by $51 so the total should be $175. He communicated that to the company in front of me over the phone. The company had my credit card information to secure the service request. The company then charged me $799 + taxes. This is not acceptable. I'm reporting a complaint against this steeling and will dispute this transaction. Do not ever use this company as they will just steel your money as a customer

I had a 4 p.m. appointment. When I called around 4:10 to ask if the technician was on his/her way, the man who answered the phone simply said "Yes. He should be there around 4:30." No apology for running late. He then said he sent a text to me but didn't get a response. I never received a text and I found it odd that he wouldn't call a customer instead of texting to let them know the technician is running a half hour late. He explained that any notification of the technician running late is a courtesy and he didn't have to do it. Wow. He could tell I was annoyed and only then did he apologize. I tried to give a small business a try and I was reminded why it's sometimes better to choose the larger, more established and professionally run companies such as James A. Wheat and Michael & Son's Services. I canceled the appointment.

I was contacted right away and my job was scheduled in a timely manner. The plumber arrived at my home and was professional, courteous, , and efficient. He explained to me where the leak in my toilet was coming from, what he would need to do to fix it, and an estimate of how long it would take. He completed the job in less than anticipated time and left my bathroom looking better than when he arrived. He left having me assured that if the leak continued, to contact him and he would come back to address. However, he did thorough and complete work and I have had no issues! Many thanks to the professionals at Plumbing Pros for making this experience efficient and professional and developing my trust that the job was well done!!

Hi everyone. I really can not understand how these guys stay in business. I needed to replace two old valves under kitchen sink (hot water and cold water … they cost $9 and $22) I paid the $189 service call and the guy at the phone for this job (really 20min maybe 30) quoted me $1000! ($500 per valve ) I moved from California and this is total madness!!!! I thought he was joking. How can they rip people off with these prices. If I knew this I would not have wasted the service call. Maybe here are all millionaires to pay $1k for 20 min unskilled job ;) I ended up doing myself. I would love to hear how they come up with the prices. What if I have a pipe leak, is goin to be $50k??

Emergency situation as water leak in basement noticed Friday evening. Called GPP and Christopher answered. I was told a plumber would be at my house in an hour. We have heard that story before. Sure enough, Berto of GPP was at my house in an hour. As the basement is finished it was a hidden leak. Berto was very skillful and found the leak. Repair was done in a professional manner. I had turned the water off in my house and if GPP had not arrived we would have had to pack and check into a hotel. I would like to thank Christopher and Berto from GPP for the great service.

I recently had a great experience working with Gaithersburg Plumbing Pros to fix my water heater, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service From the moment I contacted them, they were prompt, professional, and courteous. The plumber Roberto quickly diagnosed the issue and tried his best to explain everything to me. He worked efficiently and took care to ensure everything was functioning perfectly before he left. I recommend their services to anyone in need of plumbing assistance!

This company is the best around!!! I truly was so happy with the whsole transaction! We needed a new water heater put in and they were able to do it the next day! They are very responsive and understanding of our work schedule. They are very knowledgeable about all plumbing needs and were also able to unclog a slow draining utility closet drain. We could not be happier with how the installation went. I would highly recommend this company.
