I had Fort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning come out and install a Bryant Heat Pump, 90% condensing furnace. I highly recommend this company for any of your HVAC needs. Chris came out to give me estimate. It was directly down to business no games, no sales job. I had 4 companies come to give me estimates to replace my 27 year old single stage goodman furnace, no air conditioning. Chris advised me that there was this (income based) HEAR program through the Colorado Energy Office. This helped me immensely to make my decision to choose the Bryant Heat Pump System. Chris kept me advised throughout the application process to install. He setup, coordinated and scheduled (along with the office staff, I believe was Lisa, my apologies can't recall) A-Z to do a weekend install. I was sent notifications who was arriving along with picture and background info. Arron and Adam arrived introduced themselves very professional and friendly, laid down tarps, put on booties and advised me to the steps of the install. Arron informed, advised and educated me throughout the install. He would explain to me the system breaking it down and it's capabilities. The install as you can see from the photos was so professionally and esthetically done, great job! Had electrician Kanner arrived day 1 of install introduced himself and got right work, he was here and gone. Luke arrived I believe it was day 2 of install introduced himself and got right to work. Fabian was here on day 2 to assist Aaron with the install. He was professional, personable and friendly. He arrived introduced himself and went right to work. On the last day of install Aaron patched up and (Arron and Fabian) assisted with making the system mouse proof outside, cleaned up and closed up windows. See photo. This was a non-stressful, pleasant and professional experience. Thank you! Already loving the new system can't wait till it hits 100 to 105 to check out my new cooling this summer!
The crew that came to install our new unit was on time very professional. They explained what they would doing. They covered our wooden with protective pads. They let us know everything they were doing and asked if we had questions. They cleaned up every day when they were done. Once the unit was installed they went through everything that we would need to know. We were very pleased with everything thing that they did. We would highly recommend this crew and company to anyone looking to purchase a new furnace heat pump unit.
I’m new to working with Fort Collins Heating and Air and so far I’m impressed. We needed to get our 12 year old furnace replaced as it was giving us issues and the last thing I wanted to do was limp into winter with a furnace that was on the fritz. I had been working with another HVAC company for regular maintenance and they gave me a quote but I wanted to keep them honest is I called around for a few other quotes. I worked with Derek and he was a pleasure to work with. He told me about the company (which no other company did) and why he’s been with FC H&A for so long. The pricing was competitive and he educated me on some local rebates. After moving forward with their proposal they were quick to get us scheduled. The installation took two days. Arron and Adam came out to rip out the old system and begin installing the new system. They were both very professional and knowledgeable. The cool thing about working with FC H&A was that they were able to get custom sheet metal designed and delivered quickly to make the system look cleaner than the previous system. After day 1 they made sure I had heat in my home, as it was getting colder, and came back the next day to finish the job. Arron came back on day two, finished the installation, cleaned up, and did a walkthrough with my wife and I. So far I’m impressed with FC H&A and I look forward to working with them more.
The person they sent didn't know how to fix the problem (software updates cause the control panel and the furnace to shut down). He tried to call his supervisor who did not answer. The technician (who seemed to be in quite a hurry) suggested as a solution simply ignoring the message on the display and making no further attempts at software updates. The update message cannot be made to go away, and clearly the system isn't working as it should, but there was no follow up. Of course I still received a bill for the $69 dispatch fee, which is annoying since they could have not come out at all and I would be in the exact same situation I am in now. The experience with this company when they installed the furnace was positive. I found this last visit considerably less satisfying.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HAVE YOUR EMPLOYEES WEAR MASKS IN HOUSES. Like seriously it's unacceptable to have to ask in this current climate, I'm high risk and so having to fear when they sneeze or cough or sniffle is frustrating
First, let me say that Ryan did a very professional job with the installation. I was told that they needed to rearrange my entire mechanical closet because the furnace was positioned in a way that didn't allow access to the blower motor. A day and three quarters later, everything had been moved, reattached, and a lot of the old duct work repaired or replaced. As far as I can tell, Ryan did an exceptionally good job getting everything installed and working. There was also a quality assurance check after about two weeks where Alex spent a couple hours reviewing the work and ensuring that everything was functioning optimally. So if they did such great work, why are they getting a two-star review? Because of the pricing and the initial consultation. Because I know nothing about air conditioning installation, I specifically asked Kenny, "Is this a fair price? Is it similar to what I'd be charged by another contractor?" He told me yes. Come to find out that the parts they installed totaled around $3000 and I was charged over $6000 for the job. That comes out to over $3000 in labor costs for the couple hours that the initial consultation took, the almost two days of labor to do the installation, and the couple hours for the quality assurance. Now, I don't know if the price I was charged is actually fair. It doesn't *feel* fair and FCHA's refusal to send an itemized invoice after in-person, email, and phone requests certainly makes it feel like shady billing. When I was given the invoice, it contained the total sum for all of the work. i followed up by asking for an itemized invoice that was at least split into parts and labor. No response. A little bit over a month later, I got a call from Tara telling me that they'd forgotten to include some of the electrical work on the invoice and wanted me to pay an additional amount. I wasn't sure why there was a second invoice pending, so they had Kenny call me back about it. Turned out that because they had originally planned to have the condenser sticking out into my yard (!), so when I asked them to put the condenser around the corner instead, they called in an external electrician and that electrician sent a separate invoice. So much for that "Proposed Investment Guarantee" on FCHA's invoice, right? "The price you see is the price you pay...PERIOD.", it says. Turns out they have ways around that, like getting someone else to invoice you. Anyway, when I talked to Kenny (remember that this is a month after the install and my request for an itemized invoice), I reminded him that I'd requested an itemized invoice and would still like one. "Oh, sure, no problem. I'll have that for you by the end of the day." Any guesses as to whether I ever received it? Hint: The answer is no. Also, Alex was two hours late for the quality assurance appointment. Didn't even get a phone call letting me know he'd be late, just a call at 10:30, "Oh, hey, Angela tells me that we had you on the schedule for 8:30, but I was in a meeting. Is it still OK to do it now?" So ultimately, if you have a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket and are looking to have quality work done, by all means, use Fort Collins Heating and Air. On the other hand, if you're looking for a contractor that you can trust and that won't leave you feeling like you've been dealing with money-grubbing scum, then I'd recommend avoiding Kenny Bean and the rest of Fort Collins Heating and Air.
5/13-5/14/26 Juan, Fabian, Jared, & Joshua were the gentleman that I worked with this go around with FCH&A. After my last furnace inspection, I actually needed a furnace replacement & I’ve known for a couple years that my air conditioner was already on its last legs. The technician alerted me to some great rebates if I purchased the furnace and air conditioner together, so they put me in touch with Joshua. Joshua clearly explained four different packages, the pros and cons of each and when I made my decision, he helped me fill out the applications for the rebates and apply for the loan to pay for this unexpected cost. He connected me with his scheduler, and I was able to get this on the books right away. Juan & Fabian Install installed my furnace & air conditioner & Jared installed the electrical conduit outside that was necessary for the new air-conditioning unit. They were all courteous, kind, and respectful at all times. They took care to cover my rugs with tarps and wear booties when they were in the house And they cleaned up after themselves before they left. They explained how to install the new filter and use the new thermostat and what to look for on the new surge protector outside. The actual installation took two days to complete and when I needed them to come in a little bit early on the second day because I had an appointment to keep they were able to accommodate my schedule. I can’t say enough great things about this company who has taken care of equipment I don’t have any knowledge about. And they have dealt with me fairly and honestly. ———————————————————————————— 2/13/25 Once again FCHA has hit it out of the park. Today I had my furnace maintenance completed by Brent Scheiwe and he found that the Blower Motor Capacitor was functioning below normal and was able to replace it at a discounted price immediately because I’m signed up with their annual maintenance plan. Now my 22yo furnace is blowing out air with ease. What I appreciate is they contact to let me know when it is time to take care of the major equipment that I have no idea how to take care of and all their technicians break down the info so I can understand what they’re talking about. Prior to this appt I had my plumbing maintenance appt and I wish I could remember the technician’s name because he did a fantastic job too. I have some plumbing upgrades to be done, but I still need to get that scheduled as soon as I save for it. Over, I’ve been happy with the work FCHA has provided and the things I’ve learned along the way about home maintenance. _________________________________________________ I came home to a hot condo after a weekend away. Fort Collins Heating & Air was recommended by Nicholas Rael, a retired HVAC repairman, & my coworker’s father. Jose’ arrived earlier than expected, explained everything that he was doing in terms that I could understand, broke down the process and the cost, and explained what anticipate moving forward. Jose was able to fix the problem immediately for a reasonable price. I will be using this company again and because of Jose, I decided to purchase the maintenance program for the HVAC and their plumbing services. As a new homeowner, I need all the help I can get! Thanks FCHA!
TL;DR: Be aware that rather than a verified tech that works for Fort Collins Heating and Air, they may send an unqualified independent contractor. They will not tell you this is what they are doing, so learn from my expensive mistake and verify whoever shows up. And if they trick you like they tricked me, call a more professional company ASAP to fix whatever the "technician" broke. I actually had three experiences with Fort Collins Heating and Air. After we initially called to have someone diagnose why the ac kept freezing up, we scheduled an arrival time on Sunday morning. No one showed, called, or otherwise contacted us. We called an hour after the appointment window, and they promised to find out what happened and call back within 15 minutes. After they ghosted us for another hour, we called again and learned the employee never showed up for work. We rescheduled for Tuesday. The second experience was by far the best. No one showed up, but they at least took the initiative to call us 10 minutes before the window ended. We rescheduled for the next Monday, now 10 days after our initial call. On the third try someone actually showed, but I learned the hard way that he was an independent contractor, not a Fort Collins Heating and Air employee. He said that cleaning the condenser coils and the blower would fix the issue, and charged us accordingly. Rather than clean the blower, however, he used condensed air through the air return to blow out any dirt. Even before he left a disturbing sound started to come from the unit. He claimed it was not an issue. When the sound grew steadily worse, HVAC visit number 4 was from another company as I wasn't willing to risk dealing with Fort Collins Heating and Air any further. Thankfully, they were able to actually clean out the blower and also the secondary heating coil before disaster occurred. It turns out when you use condensed air in that way, all you do is force the dirt into the secondary heating coil, which is potentially dangerous. I have learned from my mistake and will be calling this second company from now on.
Very disappointed to work with this company, they charged you ridiculously. Have you ever seen any companies charge you when their technician just walked in to business, and it took him 1.5hours to walk back and forward to locate the exhaust fan? 1.5hrs times 125=$187.5 for not doing a work. I was there and talk to the technician, he said he just worked 1.5 hrs only after working hours because I watched the clock, it's reasonable, I had the feelings they would have overcharged me, that's why I confirmed with the tech, I asked "When do you start to charge me, he said, "I start to run the clock at the time you agree to me to get your equipment fixed, at 3:30pm, it's fair, so I decided to let him start working on it", That was exact what he told me, then when getting back to the company, they charged us almost 3hours, ridiculous. Not only that, they charged us 30mins for labor even though My salon opens at 9:30am, they reported they came to do the work at 8:01am-8:38am. What in the world a big company like this does something like this to customer. When I talked to Manager, she just kept saying "we didn't change for the dispatch time" we as a customer, we don't really care much about that, that's the thing between their employees and the company. She kept avoiding my point. Finally, The hours got reported on the invoice and what manager told me so not matching at all. I did calculations it was 4.967hours, she kept telling me 5.7hours. What kind of company does this. Dear the owner, Please make it right, it's not a good way to do business like this. Ridiculous experience. To prove what I said is the truth I will update the invoice number and their report on labour hour if you don't hear anything from other manager or owner.
I had made an appointment with FC H&A to have my ducts cleaned a few days ago. Prior to their arrival, I spent a great deal of time on the phone with David from their company. He was very thorough in explaining their process to me, which I greatly appreciated. My biggest concern was that I had had the air ducts cleaning in my prior home in Denver with another company. Basically, what they did was stick a shop vac hose about four feet down each vent opening and called it a day. My main concern was dust accumulation, so I was a wee bit disappointed with that level of service- it obviously made no difference what so ever. David assured me that their process was much more thorough than that. Upon arrival, David did a thorough inspection of the duct work going in to our furnace along with the main supply vent. He showed me everything he was seeing. It turned out that our ducts were actually not in that bad of shape, so I ended up opting out of the cleaning all together- all in all it was a fairly significant cost savings for us. I truly appreciated David's honest opinion about the state of our ducts and his willingness to show absolutely no upset what so ever about my choice to skip the service. He put everything back in the shape he found it and was very nice about it! I would highly recommend FC H&A. It takes a pretty honest company to tell you when they don't think you need to spend the money for something like this. I will certainly be calling them if I ever need other heating and a/c services in the future!
FCHAC came out after I did online due diligence for our Heating and Air Ducts Cleaning Service to our home. We moved into a new build in the Ridge at Harmony for about a year. We continued to smell dirt when our Heat or Air Blower came on. Jen at Customer Service was very precise in her knowledge of their team of service professionals and set expectation along with a competitive price. Not the least expensive but most comprehensive for the identified service. David from the Service Team arrived on time and took time to go over what he was tasked to complete for the Heating and Air Duct Cleaning. This included removal and cleaning the Blower and AC Coil where construction materials, dirt, and debris that were kicked into the vents during the building process by workers. In addition, during the interior painting, there was evidence that the heater was on during painting of the interior of the home due to the heavy paint that had accumulated on the blower and fins. Don also from FCHAC assisted David and took extra time to fully remove the paint deposits on the Blower. 6+ hours after they arrived, they completed their tasks and walked me through all of the results to my satisfaction. No clean up required by us, David left everything as it was found. Clean. From beginning to end, Fort Collins Heating & Air was professional and fair in their pricing and No Upsells at the end. How refreshing! FCHAC will be our source for future services and maintenance. We fully recommend FCHAC to all our Friends and Neighbors.
Eight years ago, I had the good fortune to find Fort Collins Heating and Air Conditioning and updated my furnace and A/C with them. For a modest monthly charge, they schedule three already-paid-for visits per annum to ensure that my furnace and A/C are in topnotch condition. Every one of their technicians, thoroughly trained and personable to boot, is always a joy to welcome into my home. Last weekend, my hot water heater, al least fifteen years old, developed a leak. Time then for a replacement, based on my layman's googling of "hot water heater leaks," some of which can signal danger in a unit that old. I skipped the emergency route available to me on their website and left a request for a visit by one of their plumbing staff. I described the nature of leak and included a photo of the manufacturer, model number, size (50 gallon), etc. from the side of the heater. That evening (a Sunday no less), their CEO emailed me. A few exchanges later, I had the promise of a Wednesday morning appointment. He also said that if the leak worsened, I should call for an emergency visit. No need for that, though I checked it often. A thorough job of installation on Wednesday and all is golden since then. I've signed up too for their once-a-year visit to keep the heater maintained. I love this company! Or couldn't you tell? :^)
I recently got estimates from a half-dozen HVAC companies for the installation of a full ducted heat-pump system into an home that did not have it - a retrofit. Fort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning called me back within minutes of my submitting a quote request, and they came out the same morning - impressive. The guy who came out was dressed professionally and was notably friendly. However, his proposal was the only one that required two outdoor units and quite a bit of exterior hoses and wiring, which I had said I wanted to minimize. Pricing was also a problem; the estimate was, by far, the highest I received. I continued to like the estimator throughout the process, but the truth is that the quote was not competitive. This was the "Cadillac" of the companies I spoke to: the cost of a permit was included, they guarantee in writing that you'll pay only the estimated price, no matter what, and they have a final, separate quality inspection that nobody else does (or at least mentions). There's no doubt in my mind that these guys do a good job, and if that's all you care about, by all means give them a shot.
Fort Collins Heating just completed a major two day job for me. They retrofitted my air handler with an electronic air cleaner. They ran new gas lines through a finished basement so I could install a gas range in the kitchen and a natural gas grill on the deck They also installed an exhaust vent from the kitchen to the outside. Dave made the initial contact to review the job options and the bid. He was very helpful and knowledgeable during the entire bid process. Then Angela got the job scheduled and kept me informed and got things going very quickly. The guys on the job really carried the ball. Ryan knew what had to be done and reviewed everything with me to insure we both had the same expectations. He conveyed everything to his crew so they knew what was expected. Allen created a "work of art" with the new duct work. Everything was done with minimal inconvenience. Ryan 'a experience really showed through and Rob did a great job with much of the detail work. Next time I need HVAC work I know who I will call
Shaun diagnosed our A/C issue quickly and clearly explained his recommendations. He replaced two capacitors and tuned up our unit quickly. The unit is working better than it ever has in the 5 years we’ve owned our home. I highly recommend Shaun. Hunter came out to service our furnace. He was very thorough, skilled and professional. He changed our furnace and humidifier filters and explained his observations. I highly recommend Hunter. Pat cleaned our dryer vent and discovered that there were several ducting issues causing our dryer to work extremely inefficiently. Problems included curved dryer duct material on our roof rather than dryer duct roof cover, too large duct hole requiring roof repair, soft ducting in attic to roof rather than solid duct pipe, duct hanging loose in the attic and slanting down with sharp turns, etc. Pat reworked the ducting, installed a proper roof duct cover and our dryer is now working efficiently which should reduce our electric bills. I highly recommend Pat.
