Saturday morning, after starting a load of laundry, my kitchen was covered in water because of a major clog. Don Wood Plumbing was contacted. Huge thanks to William for showing up within the hour. He diagnosed the clogged pipes immediately, explained the repair clearly, fixed the pipes quickly, was very professional, and saved my weekend. It's hard to find a reliable plumber who responds so fast on a weekend. After finishing, William had everything back in working order in no time. Highly recommended for any plumbing emergency. Don Wood Plumbing is officially my go-to for plumbing issues!
We had a great experience with Roger from Don Wood! We had a time sensitive job that involved chiseling into concrete and fixing the lines and he did a great job. Right when the job was done I noticed another line leaking on my crawl space, and even though it was late, Roger got to work and fixed that issue as well. Great service and I’d recommend them for sure!
We had a complex plumbing issue at our condos for which the HOA called Don Wood Plumbing. They told us up front that the work would take 3 to 4 days to complete. They started when they promised and finished on time. The office staff and the techs were friendly and cooperative. They did a professional job at a reasonable price. We certainly recommend Don Wood Plumbing.
WARNING -don't use Don Wood!!! Got several estimates from plumbers including Don Wood. The job was costly so we put it off for a year and then called Don Wood again (since we had all but decided to use them) . They came and inspected our property (1acre) a second time and increased the price . Totally understand since time had passed that materials / labor increases. When we finally had Don Wood to come out to do the job , they had inspected our property 3x already, and GUESS WHAT.... on those 3 visits and their go between with the city to get permits (we were having septic tank(s) crushed ) they never found out we had not one but 2 septic tanks . They had already done most everything for the first tank but fill in with dirt when the city came out for final inspect ion and said ."why did Don Wood not connect the 2nd tank?" WE WERE SHOCKED THAT THERE WAS A 2nd TANK and that Don Wood hadn't found in 3 visits !! We called and Don himself said it is not his responsibility to know how many septic tanks are on a property! REALLY? Your the plumber Mr. Wood not me... he was not nice , charged us to bring all the equipment back out ( again they were all but finished with first tank ) and connect the second tank! I will never recommend them and if I were you I would look for another plumber besides Don Wood!
Was getting new floors done. I needed a plumber to com to remove the toilet and come back to replace it when the flooring was done. I called Don Wood since they are ALL over WKRN in the morning wanting our business and I've heard about them around town. I called and the gal that answered said that they could do it. Asked if they've worked on my house before. Uh, no. It's a new home and *knock on wood* I haven't needed a plumber. She tells me 'sorry we aren't taking new clients.' What???? Is this a hair salon?? That's the only time I've heard that! I have never ever in all my years called a home service company and be told they aren't 'taking new clients'. That was outrageous! Then stop advertising for people to call you so you can do their work. When they start taking "new clients" don't think that I will ever ever be one and will be sure to never recommend them either.
In summation, I'm giving this company 1 star due to poor workmanship/quality and severe unprofessionalism. Don Wood did every bit of plumbing in our new build 6,200sq ft home built in February 2019. They were paid well and above $20,000 for this work. Since move in, we have had nothing but issues with their workmanship and quality. We've had showers with no hot water, toilets that run constantly, toilets that won't flush, toilets that aren't stable, garbage disposal that doesn't work, leaky faucets, water pressure issues and the list goes on. This company has done nothing but nickel and dime us every time we have an issue. They were hired and paid a great deal of money to do our plumbing correctly to begin with. We trusted they would provide good workmanship, but in the event something did go wrong (as they often do with new builds), we felt they'd be there to back up their work. Within the first year, they fixed what was asked. But since being "fixed", we've had the same issues reappear and now that it's beyond one year, they have nickel and dimed us to fix issues (both new ones and reoccurring ones) that should have never have happened to begin with if the work had been done properly the first time. They did very sloppy work. For one example, the air switch for the garbage disposal in the countertop was cut too large by the fabricators. Instead of calling that out as an issue during the build and finding an easy solution at the time, they installed the air switch anyways knowing well that once it's pushed so many times, it would fall through to the bottom of the cabinet due to the hole size; this unknown to my husband and I. Once it did in fact fall through and was no longer operable (a few months after the 1 years mark), they charged us a service fee to come take a look. Then they say they have to get a part and need to come back, in which they charge us another service fee. In the end, we paid an absorbent amount for this 5 minute correction that should have never have happened to begin with and were without a garbage disposal for weeks. They were counting on making money off this service call when they did the initial work. Beyond poor and untrustworthy workmanship, they are extremely unprofessional. So much so as the service manager Hoyt has hung up on me multiple times. Further, the employees they've sent to our home are extremely unprofessional and I felt uncomfortable having them in my house around my daughter with my husband not present. So much so I asked a neighbor to come over. I'm not certain they do background checks on who's working for them. If I were the owner of this company I would be humiliated. If you have a project, large or small, please do not hire this company. There are so many better options. I regret ever having done business with them. I hope this review can help protect another loving family from a lot of headaches. Too many to name in a review!
Absolutely the most disrespectful and unprofessional crew of plumbers I have ever worked with. Multiple issues throughout our build project left us concerned with the quality of work and knowledge of Don Wood's crew. We had to have them back over and over again during the build process for incorrect installation and various issues. Outside of MANY finishing issues, they punched a hole through our foundation block for the tankless water heater installation, and the debris and rocks from the block went right into the opening in the top of the water heater. NO ONE noticed, so when we turned on the water heater for the first time, there were rocks IN THE UNIT making it sound like a jet engine and probably causing permanent damage. They didn't replace the unit, but simply took out the rocks and said it was ok and wasn't damaged. We're hoping that's actually true, but given additional issues later and their increasing lack of professionalism, we now have concerns about that. At one point, I had to research how to install the shower steam system and explain it to them after they incorrectly installed it twice, and they treated me with complete disrespect and aggression throughout the entire process. After the primary bathroom in our new build flooded due to issues with the plumbing inside the wall, the plumbers showed up to make repairs and immediately got heated with us for asking them to remove shoes in certain areas of the home since we recently moved in and had the home cleaned, put out rugs, etc. One plumber told us that we could "shove our home up our asses" and began verbally berating us from our front porch. We asked them to immediately leave and will never allow Don Wood or anyone associated with them into our home again. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
The service was performed adequately and prices were reasonable compared to the big local chains. HOWEVER, I do not trust their employees. I am certain that some of their employees took personal items from my garage. When I spoke to the employees (called them back on their cell), I was not accusatory, just questioning as I thought I could have misplaced my item. In speaking to them though, their excuses did not add up. I simply asked did you see this item? "No". How about your partner? "He didn't either". Really, you can answer for him without even asking him the question? I then contacted the supervisor. He was unaware that his guys had been called by a customer, but said he would ask them. "They didn't see the item, and they were together the whole time". Ok, unless they are synchronized swimming partners and entered and exited my crawl space at the exact same moment, they were not together the whole time. I contacted the owner, Don Wood, and he said "I trust my guys". Ok Don, you do, and I don't. I guess we have a difference of opinion. Shame on me for leaving these guys alone in my garage. Their service and prices were ok, but not worth the risk of having items stolen from my home.
Don Wood was contracted by the sellers of a house we bought to put in a drain pipe for our hot water heater drain pan. The guy came the day we moved in, he drilled through the wall near the floor to send the pipe to the outside... little did he know, he drilled DIRECTLY through our pipe that our washer uses. So our laundry room and room adjacent flooded as a result of our washer draining during a cycle. They came out and fixed that, which was good. Now we're on to our next issue, the drain pan (they originally came to installed a run-off pipe for) started overflowing because that pipe is angled up and so water won't run out of it , so our laundry room and room adjacent flooded again as a result. My wife called and spoke to someone who was incredibly rude to her on the phone about how it isn't their fault. I only heard her side of the conversation from the other room, but she never even finished a single sentence due to his constant interrupting. They are sending someone out to look at it whenever, but I'm hopeful and looking forward to updating this review to be more positive that they have righted the wrongs they have caused.
Don Wood stands behind their work! I purchased a new home that was plumbed by Don Wood plumbing in 2006. Over a decade later we called Don Wood out to repair a leaking kitchen faucet. Their serviceman while working on the repair discovered another problem that was made in 2006 where a tiny hole in a drain pipes had seeped a tiny amount of water over a decade. It was in a sealed hollow area behind our sink cabinet. The serviceman noticed it. He called Don spoke a bit and handed me the phone. Don had a team of workers out almost immediately to take care of what could have been a major repair for any home owner. Don also hired a local company to make sure the mold they found was completely removed and clean. I have called Don Wood for every plumbing need or concern we have had with our personal and our investment properties. Hoit, their service manager, is very forthright and he gets their right people out on time every time or in the rare exception he calls and explains why there is a delay. I strongly recommend using Don Wood to anyone who has a plumbing need, big or small.
After using Don Wood Plumbing for several years for home projects, I engaged them to help with a commercial project for a client. After having some struggles to get the estimate (which I felt was a fair price), I had to contact them twice to get the work scheduled. When I called back later in the week to verify completion of the work I was told they couldn't perform the work due to rain all week. I qualified that I understood that the weather was an issue but expressed dissatisfaction that I was not contacted and a longer delay was necessary because utility locate had to be re-done. I was transferred to Mr. Wood and expressed my concerns, who almost immediately told me he thought I should find another plumber if I thought they should work in the rain. He also told me that the work was never scheduled anyway. When I responded that his assistant had qualified the specific day and time AND that all I wanted was notification so I could alert my client, he repeated his stance and expressed that he "was frustrated by me."
Company flooded my bathroom and pretended like it was my fault. Would not pay for damages! To top it off, employees drive terribly, backed into my yard, and I've seen their trucks drive aggressively. Terrible company, I Don Wouldn't. Update: Seems like Donny Boy here doesn't want to take ownership for company vehicles driving recklessly. Doesn't surprise me; probably his son taking daddy's truck out for a little joyride. Unfortunately small businesses can be prone to nepotism. Might have even been under the influence due to the aggressive tailgating, failure to use turn signals, and sudden changes in speed observed from a filthy company truck with dry rotted tires. I can only imagine the shortcuts they take on the job with trucks that are in such disrepair. I now have a list of reasons why I Don Wouldn't: Owner that does not take responsibility for the actions of his employees Probable nepotism Vehicles are falling apart Poor customer service
too painful to re-tell; had he made 1 effort to connect with me to understand the situation, all would have been worked out. A very stubborn man who preferred to be right than to make things right Reply to their post to me: I spent months offering to submit my proofs of what i was left with after this employee was “finished”. I requested several docs from DWP in exchange. The only thing i got was an adjusted bill admitting first one was wrong. Trust shot! All this while confined to a cot downstairs as a result of pelvic, hip, spine fractures and hematomas. it was months b4 I could crawl up the stairs to see the damages (after hospital and rehab stay). Repeat: taken advantage of the elderly. Employee did not communicate and came and went freely while i was confined
Had our 75 gal powered vent Lochinvar water heater spring a leak (during a party no less!) I determined that the leak was from the tank which meant a new heater. Called Lee Co first (we have a service agreement). They wanted over $6k to replace the heater or $14k to upgrade to tankless which is ridiculous. Then had Don Wood recommended to me. Their guys came right out and had the heater changed out in about four hours. The original quote was $1300 with the final bill being slightly higher due to installation location difficulties. They were fast and thorough. They even replaced the circulation pump with one I had bought for no upcharge. I highly recommend them.
Great Customer Service! We have used Don Wood Plumbing for at least a decade and every time they have worked to resolve our problems quickly and in the most cost efficient manner. Most recently I had a waterline leak from the meter to our house. Hoyt talked with me several times as I was trying to determine the exact issue and assisted in getting me in touch with folks who specialize in finding underground leaks. Luckily he was able to give me enough direction that I was able to isolate the leak myself and his team came out, dug to find the line and repaired the next day. I would highly recommend using Don Wood Plumbing for all your plumbing needs.
