Commando Plumbing deserves this 5 star review. They didn't even do any work for me. But, what Victor did, was answer the phone on a Sunday, showed empathy and patience in helping me with issues with my Rinnai tankless water heater. He didnt have to, but he did. Awesome customer service at Commando Plumbing. Keep up the great work! I'll be reaching out next year for my annual maintenance.

Had a water pressure issue and hot water heater breakdown. Commando plumbing was the first to respond, within 2 hours. Kevin and Luis arrived as scheduled. They are highly knowledgeable and advised us which parts needed to be changed, and which water heaters are most efficient, avoiding unnecessary costs. They promptly replaced our decade old water pressure regulators and our water heater with a tankless one, Rinnai, within 48 hours. Super thrilled with our new water heater with filters. Softer water, better showers. Strongly recommend Commando Plumbing if you need to replace old water heaters and for all plumbing needs.

Wow. Alex and his crew worked quickly and efficiently to repair our outdoor natural gas service to our BBQ and fire pit, after determining where the gas was leaking and the reasons. His problem-solving was spot-on, the ability of his team to dig beneath our concrete patio to access our line was truly remarkable-- and their careful management of the dirt and repair to our garden area was very impressive. They power washed our concrete, painted exposed pipes to match our trim, and even replanted and mulched our garden bed so there was zero evidence they'd ever been here-- just in time for our holiday party. No one wants a problem to begin with-- let alone an unexpected crew working in our backyard right before the holidays-- but Alex's communication and commitment gave us confidence, and we were comforted by his team's attention to detail. We would absolutely recommend Commando Plumbing to anyone with a gas line plumbing issue.

This is belated but I want to personally thank Victor at Commando Plumbing for honoring his "free diagnosis" promise. Last year, Commando Plumbing did an excellent job diagnosing and doing surgery on a section of the sewer line that had been penetrated by tree roots. Then last month, I had a water leak at my rental house near where the lateral for the house connects to the city meter. When I called Commando for a quote to come diagnose the problem, Victor answered the phone and said the diagnosis would be free because I was a prior client. Two techs came out as promised the next morning and noticed that the leak was coming from underneath a 3'x5' cement slab. They said they would have to break the cement to diagnose the problem, to which I asked, how much it would cost to break the cement and dig to diagnose the problem. And again, the tech said the work was all included in the free diagnosis. They proceeded to break the cement, dug out the area around the leaking pipe, and then finally gave me an estimate. However, the estimate was very high, over $5k. So I called Victor and said, at that price, I would have to get 1-2 more bids. And I also told Victor, if I did not hire Commando for the repair, then I would pay for the cement and digging work. Victor acknowledged at this point that he and the techs had a misunderstanding and that they should have charged for the cement/digging work. Even though I had no obligation to pay for the cement/digging work (since Victor and his techs both said they were included in the free diagnosis), I felt it was only fair that I paid something to Commando for the digging if I didn't hire them. Well, I found another company who offered a lower price, so I called Victor to offer to pay something for the cement/digging work. But Victor declined my offer! He said it was totally his and his techs' fault for not communicating clearly and that he would honor the "free diagnosis". This was very kind and honest. I will definitely call Commando again for future plumbing needs.

We got an alert last Wednesday from ACWD for a potential leak due to continuous flow detected over 24 hr. We looked all over the place but there were no visible leaks inside or outside of the house. From the online meter reading, we could see the leak was getting worse. So I posted a request for leak detection on Yelp last Friday. Commando responded quickly and offered a free estimate with a confirmed appt for that afternoon ( very effective initial communication). Javier came at 3pm, and found the leak within 10min. There was a leak in the pipe underneath between the meter and the valve to the house. Javier proposed two options, explained them clearly, and answered all the questions I had. He was also able to give a very reasonable quote verbally, with an official quote via email not too long after he left. Javier came again on Monday morning with a co-worker and spent almost 4 hours on the job. They went through the fix with us and made sure we were happy with the results before wrap-up. They also did a thorough clean-up with the dirt and debris to ensure the area returned to its original state. Two days after the job, Javier followed up again -- he was on another job nearby and wanted to check if everything is working fine with us. What a surprise! So I shared with him that we no longer have continuous flow based on the latest data. Kudos to Javier/Commando Plumbing for such a smooth and efficient end-to-end leak detection & repair service, as well as the outstanding customer care mindset. I would not hesitate to call them again should I have a plumbing need in the future!

I've used Commando Plumbing for quite a few plumbing jobs over the last 3-4 months - replacing three toilets, swapping out a kitchen faucet, fixing a clogged sink, replacing a broken garbage disposal, replacing two broken shut-off valves at the kitchen sink, replacing a shower valve, fixing another shower's hot/cold water imbalance, and I'm probably forgetting a few other things! Throughout my experience, I dealt with Leo, who was a pleasure to work with. He was transparent about options and their costs, and never tried to sell me on anything or pressure me in any direction. Originally, I wanted the caulking around our tile/glass shower replaced as well. However, when Leo started working on it, he found water and calcium build-up where there shouldn't be. He recommended talking to a specialist for a permanent fix rather than him doing a "band-aid" that could potentially lead to further damage in the future. (He was right - we actually need to replace the glass walls and the frame holding the glass in place.) If I have plumbing problems in the future (and given my recent last few months, I am sure I will!), I have Commando Plumbing's number ready.

Of the four plumbing companies Yelp reached out to for me, all said an on-site consultation was necessary. Of the three that scheduled one and then gave an estimate, Commando Plumbing's estimate was in a tie for lowest price. I chose the other one based on ease of communication. I think Commando's technician was an experienced plumber who could have done the job, but it was more difficult to discuss my options with him (a two-way choice between wax ring and wax-free seal), although we eventually understood each other with the help of pictures on the boxes and on Amazon. He also took out a reel that may have been for clearing the line or even a sewer inspection, even though I had not requested that service, and I don't know if he was trying to communicate that he was offering or recommending those services. The written estimate took a couple of hours while the two competitors sent me one instantly, and Commando's was sparser than the others and a little ambiguous. So I chose another company for the same price with more confidence we could communicate if anything unexpected came up.

After dealing with recurring main line blockages caused by tree roots and feeling overcharged by multiple plumbers over the past couple years, I finally found a company I can trust. Jose and his crew at Commando Plumbing worked through the weekend to restore our sewage as quickly as possible, and I'm confident they fully fixed the problem in a lasting manner. What sets them apart: Jose always offered to try simpler, more affordable solutions first instead of immediately pushing expensive options. They first tried to hydrojet the line and only suggested replacing a stretch of pipe after verifying there were no simpler alternatives. I appreciated that they used a camera to inspect their work at every stage and took the time to show me the feed and explain what we were looking at. Throughout this stressful situation, I felt like they were genuinely working towards my best interest - their prices are very fair and their diligence is unmatched. I will without doubt be calling them for any future plumbing needs. The tree roots growing in the pipe were HUGE (photo attached).

Marvin came out for a free estimate for a connector on an existing gas line. I appreciate that he took the time to inspect my whole gas system instead of just writing up a quick-glance estimate like I've had done elsewhere. I knew I had older pipes and several terminated lines from old appliances and heaters, but I didn't realize the corrosion was so bad. He also found a small gas leak, so definitely something I wanted to take care of quickly. He returned the next morning with his crew, Kevin and Luis, and replaced all of the corroded gas lines. Everyone was professional and friendly, and they cleaned up inside and out like they were never here. It also feels good to have a safe and updated gas system. Marvin took time at the end of their long day to make sure all of my questions were answered and that I was happy with the results. He explained all of their work, and included pictures from under the house which was very helpful. Overall this was a quick, professional, and friendly job complete. Commando Plumbing and Marvin and crew are highly recommended.

Charged $700 for a single person to perform less than two hours of work (two hair clogs and re-tightening a pipe). We were quoted at $400 and assured that the cost would remain at that after explaining that the clog was occurring on the third and first level of a tri-level townhome. They got there about an hour late and when they got there, they quoted significantly higher. Specifically, we were quoted $600 from a different company and separately $500 for the same amount of work and the same next day service from someone we previously used. They said their rate is $325 per drain way clog unclogged and $150 for reassembling the sink drain pipes (p trap and whatnot). The person giving initial quote assumed that the third and first floor clog were coming from the same place. Looking back it does look like they have kept their prices the same since 2022. They took care of the issue, and it was next day service, but at the price they quoted, I'd recommend someone local to Hayward, CA AND asking for an hourly rate.

We had a mysterious water leak in the ceiling of our garage which is shared with an upstairs neighbor (condo). We had a another company come out for an estimate first. They spent about 30 minutes and didn't touch anything. They said we would have to pay $1300 for a "3 step diagnosis" to find the problem. I sent a request on yelp and commando responded quickly and came the next day and opened up the ceiling and diagnosed the problem in 15 minutes. The technician really got his hands dirty diagnosing the problem, he even had a bunch of water dumped on him when he opened the ceiling more and he still pursued finding the problem with a smile on his face. He clearly explained the issue and provided a fair estimate for the repair on the spot. He also offered to be available the next morning with a companion to fix the problem. They showed up on time, fixed the problem and came in below the estimate. We are so so happy we chose Commando and highly recommend them!

I had a really bad experience with the plumber. I was on vacation and out of the country and Alex showed up to investigate the problem. He told me that the problem is within the steel pipe that lead from the meter to the house. He said, the very difficult to find out where the leakage is in the steel pipe. He told me that he recommend to replace the whole pipe and it will cost about $12,000. When I came back from my vacation, I went and investigated myself. I found out that the pipe that leading out of the meter, is 1 yard long, and is made out of steel. However, after one yard it is coupled with a plastic pipe. Not only that, it was very easy to see that the leakage is from the coupler that connect the steel pipe and the plastic pipe. I'm not the plumber, and it took me about 20 minutes to get the full picture for the problem is and to understand what need to be done. Clearly, there is no need to replace the whole pipe between the meter and the house.

Needed a fix for a clogged kitchen sync. Was quoted $325 which was on the higher end of the market but they could do same day so I went with it. Crew came on-site as scheduled, did a review, and confirmed the $325 quote. Team got to work, unclogged with snake, but this is where the problems began. Crew couldnt put pipes back together and water kept leaking from drain. Spent 1 hr trying to fix our pipes and ultimately was told we had to replace our kitchen disposer because it was "too old". To add this service, was an extra $425...a kitchen disposer typically runs $100-150 for the one they provided, but to charge $200+ for install just seemed ridiculous, and we didnt have a choice. Lastly, tried to use 10% discount code on yelp, but crew spoke no english, only spanish. As such, wasn't able to use the code. Quite disappointed overall. Able to fix our plug in the end after 3 hrs but overcharged quite a bit...total $750 just to fix a drain plug...
