CJ plumbing has been our go-to for leaks, frozen pipes, drain issues, etc. Dmitry is always prompt to reply, manages to schedule service same or next day, and the plumbers / technicians always easy to work with and get the job done quickly. Highly recommended.

Dmitry and Lenny are excellent professionals. They've done two jobs in my 60+ year old building. The first was to help with updating valve fixtures for our basement washer and dryer. The second was a broken faucet and valve following the cold weather. Though it was a sunday and snowing Dmitry made his way and repaired the faucet. Grateful for them, their transparency and reliability. I do plan to use them again.

We were doing a major remodeling of a 120 year old bathroom. Their work was perfect. They had important, very impactful design ideas that they shared and implemented very cost-effectively. They were cooperative, efficient, and whenever a problem came up, it was solved within an hour. They twisted their schedule around some unpredictabilities on our part. What else could one ask for?

Wish we had not used these plumbers. 1) tried to scam us by using thinner copper than was called out on plans and contract. 2) placed ejector pump float directly below inlet so our basement flooded 3 times with dirty water. 3) no call-no showed seemed like 50% of the time 4) took 3 attempts to pass City rough inspection and 2 tries to pass final Nitpicking... None of our shower handles are in-line with drains or spouts. And they're off center.

I didn't want to leave a negative review. But I am emotionally hurt and overwhelmed for spending $435 for a plumbing Job that took about an hour. I had requested a replacement for Hot and cold water hoses. I also wanted hot and cold water pipes to my washer to be replaced. Yes, I take the blame that I did not communicate effectively about water pipes over the phone which led to my disappointment and dissatisfaction. But for the amount of money I was willing to spend, I deserve better customer service and Job satisfaction I was looking for. During the Job, I had mentioned to Mr. Lenny and Dimitri that I needed new pipes. Lenny became angry and defensive and shifted the blame on me for my lack of communication. I called Dimitri and told him about the escalation. Dimitri did not handle the situation like a true professional. I became really uncomfortable with Lenny and his anger. He demanded Payment with a very rude demeanor. $435 should be more than enough to cover hot and cold water hoses, and hot and cold water pipes. Again, I don't want to leave a negative review, But I am really upset for not getting the kind of service for my money.

I read reviews of plumbers serving in Highland Park from several sources. On Google and Yelp and other sites I read that CJ Plumbing Serving Highland Park, with the owner named Dmtry, was reasonable and helpful. I was very disappointed about my experience. They charge $275 an hour, minimum charge it seems is $275.00. The shower faucet had a slow drip. I contacted Delta Faucets and they sent me a replacement cartridge for free. CJ Plumbing sent out a plumber who took apart the valve and put in the new cartridge. He noticed that another part needed to be replaced so the repair would last. That took him perhaps 30 minutes. I did not know which part he needed but I was told he could find one and he bring it by on the way to or from work. It sounded like a simple matter. After a month I received a call that they were able to get the part. They said it took them a lot of trips trying several supply houses to find it. They never contacted Delta which I had told them had the replacement parts. I asked if there was a charge and was told that the part was only $10 but they had to charge for one hours labor since they had to locate the part. It took the other plumber perhaps 10 minutes to replace this small plastic piece. I was charged another $275.00. I also realized that instead of spending a month’s time looking for the small plastic piece- for $13 they could have purchased a new handle and just pushed it on. As nice as the people were who came to my house, I still cannot recommend CJ Plumbing. I Just read your response to my review. First of all it is not true. Your plumber on the first visit made the diagnosis regarding the leak and it needing both parts. He was to get the part and quickly stop by to install it. I did not make a separate request but may have asked about what happened to finishing the same repair. As far as further bills, I paid for all your services by check when given a bill at the times of service and was told these were the total amount due. Dimitry responded to me on a Nextdoor and commented that I should call him. I put in a call, snd left a message and pointed out that it was in response to his request. He texted me back and forth. he went from saying we had an agreement to saying we did not, He said I was disrespectful to working people, He asked me if I was Jewish then texted me in an attempt to wish me a happy new year to me and my family, a hebrew phrase as such. He then texted me that if I "kept Calling he would call the police". I had called him that one time at his request. He then told me I needed help. Being a Mental Health Professional myself, I thought that was interesting.

3/18/21 edit: My bathtub water wasn’t going down as quickly as I’d hoped so after doing about 2 minutes of research, I decided to use a plastic drain snake I got off Amazon. I stuck about a ft in and when I tried pulling it out, it broke off inside. Turns out, you’re not supposed to use those in tubs... ay yi yi. I called CJ Plumbing and Dmitry sent someone out the next day. I thought they’d have to open up the wall because the thing was so deep but they managed to get it out in no time. These guys are my go-to plumbers because they’re so quick and the work is good. Thank you again! May 2020 After my basement flooded from a very heavy rain, I was looking for a plumber to diagnose and fix the issue. I had previously called a variety of basement-flood companies and they all told me something different so this time I knew I needed to get an actual plumber. A family friend recommended C&J Plumbing and Dmitry showed up that same day to have a look. He determined that the water came in from my sump pit/drain due to pump failure and replaced it with a stronger model. He also advised that a battery backup pump would be a good idea because if the power goes out during a storm, I could have another flood. The flooding completely killed my water heater as well which he replaced. Despite most of Chicagoland dealing with major flooding, and my place being a relatively small job, he gave me his full attention and worked to resolve this issue in the span of a few days so that another rain wouldn’t get me. He was also super easy to reach and responded to both calls and texts ASAP. When all was said and done, the price he gave me for installing two brand new pumps was cheaper than the basement flood companies. We just had a really hard rain last night and everything worked great, no flooding! Overall, I’m really happy with C&J Plumbing and I’ll call them again the next time something goes wrong.

Review for c and j They ruined my ceiling and refuse to accept responsibility. As you can see from the pictures: before they came (first one), I had sent a picture to my handyman to ask him to sand, spackle and paint (a $150 job). Now, someone has to come cut out my ceiling and replace the plaster (a $2,500 job). The guys who came were very nice and proceeded to rod our toilets but when they went to do the one upstairs, they didn’t drain the tank or the bowl (gallons and gallons of water) so, when they moved it to get at the drain, water went all over the bathroom floor into every crack. My wife saw toilet water running down the ceiling and kitchen walls below and went to ask what was happening (thank god she saw it). Only then did they ask for towels and start to mitigate how much water had gotten away from them. By then, the damage was done. Now we have several cracks in our ceiling and one is a hazard- the light doesn’t work and it looks like it could fall down at any moment. At first the ceiling didn’t seem so bad but after the water settled in and soaked the plaster over the course of a week or so, it was clear real damage had been done. I contacted the owner and he denied all responsibility (and wasn’t nice about it either- refused to come look at, said they’d done nothing wrong), he even said it was there before from something I did. Well, there’s clearly a difference between what was there before and after his guys did the job. I would have my insurance cover it but it’s smaller than my deductible. I’m fine with the bill for the original service being $500 more than I was quoted. If the crack in the ceiling was a simple spackle and paint job as it was before, I would be fine with that too. I just would have liked them to accept responsibility and use their insurance to cover their mistake. That’s what insurance is for.

After purchasing a home last year, we experienced a number of plumbing issues due to the previous owner being neglectful and/or just doing poor quality plumbing work. So, when we needed to install a new sink, I called CJ Plumbing & Heating and not only did they diagnose a number of plumbing issues that weren't up to code, they spotted some red flags that would eventually fail and leave us with serious flooding issues. Through several visits, the team at CJ, especially Lenny, helped us install the sink, reroute the dishwasher drain to the main line rather than the garbage disposal, install two new shutoff valves (we live in an old house and we only had one valve that didn't shut off all the way), fix the b-box so we could actually shut water off to the house from the street (we previously weren't able to), reroute the drains from our upstairs bathroom that were installed incorrectly (which caused a terrible smell to build up in the bathroom over time), and cleared a blockage between the house and main sewer line that was causing water to pour back into the basement when it rained hard. Obviously, this laundry list of repairs added up to quite a lot of money, but the team at CJ Plumbing helped us out by working with our home warranty company and by providing us with a few discounts on labor/equipment that made the cost much more manageable. Next time you need a plumber, please don't try to tackle the issue yourself or have a family friend try to do the repair. Call a licensed professional at CJ Plumbing so you know that the job is done right the first time!

Extremely poor communication. Dmitry wanted to handle everything through text (which is completely fine) and I sent him all the details and pictures I could. He said he was good with the info I sent but his estimate on the work was very vague so I asked for clarity and didn't get any. I then asked if he could email the details and proposal to me, he said "Saturday" which was 4 days away. i understand he probably has other jobs so I waited. On Sunday still nothing...followed up saying I want to move forward with the work based on the initial estimate but just need the detailed quote to make sure...he asked for home address and that was it. Monday I follow up again and then said he will send out a proposal once I confirm I am interested in scheduling and it still wouldn't get sent out for another day. As you can see how frustrating the communication has been. Maybe he does good work once you get ahold of him and seems fairly priced as I compared to other plumbers but if you don't get a quote in a couple days after providing the scope of the job, just move on if you're hoping for something sooner than later *response: again the issue is poor communication. I did tell Dmitry I was looking for service immediately and it took a week for them to tell me they are 4 weeks out. They did not offer in person, only a follow up call that was not even needed. Screenshot of that conversation is below.

I have been using this highly reputable Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Place for several years. Besides being highly competent; more important the management team are very trust worthy and straight forward. How many times does one have a bad experience with an unknown trades services company? Not at all with this one! They tactfully explain [if your problem or issue is severe] what needs to be done in order to adequately get the job fixed and repaired in a cost effective manner. They have a number of experienced and knowledgeable technicians who are also highly skilled with backgrounds working in different trade specialties all around the globe. We highly recommend this outfit whether you a have a commercial or residential situation. They will come out in a timely manner, observe your current issues and then inform you how they are able to rectify your particular situation. Call them anytime....they are excellent at all of the trade services they offer and respond extremely quickly to emergencies. Working with many contractors as owner of residential properties; we have to rely on competent and fair trades professionals. CJ Plumbing came through for us quickly and perfectly, even over a weekend leading up to the Winter Holdays. We had an awful burning plastic smell start coming through our house and wondered if it could be the furnace or something plumbing-related. We found them through a search and called on a Sunday. We spoke in-person to Dmitry and got service set up the following Monday. Lenny was our plumber, and he quickly diagnosed our issue as a failing sewer ejector pump. He had all of the materials ready to go on his truck at a reasonable price and was able to do the job in only two hours. He also helped out with improving the shower flow in our main bathroom and replacing the batteries on our sump pump backup generator. I know a lot of people are going to balk at a labor rate of $275/hr, but CJ Plumbing was incredibly responsive and efficient. Also, the whole cliche of "you can pay now or pay even more later." We'll definitely reach out to them first with any issues in the future.

I recently purchased a condominium and had to redo some of the plumbing work in the bathroom and kitchen. When I reached out to Dimitri, he responded immediately and asked very good questions and for some pictures so he could diagnose over the phone. He was able to schedule me within a reasonable time and his plumbers arrived promptly as promised. The plumber arrived and was very polite and respectful. They took care to watch their surroundings and asked about wearing a mask. Also, during the repair work the plumber took the time to explain the problems and was very transparent about what needed to get done to properly repair. If there were additional findings, the plumber reviewed those with me and asked for my approval prior to purchasing another part or moving forward with additional work. I have used CJ plumbing a few more times since then and the experience has been spectacular and consistent among the different plumbers. I highly recommend them. Rich F.
