Very professional. Courteous Technicians, very knowledgeable. Great bunch.😊
They have always taken care of my problems promptly and efficiently.
Kolter with Black Plumbing did an excellent job replacing the internal mechanism on one of the toilets in our house. The toilet now fills up as it should. He also verified both of the burners were working on our hot water heater. He did a great job.
I had used them in the past and never questioned the pricing. Wanted two water heaters installed and got the quote of $4,985.00 which I thought was "high" but thought that protects the "unforseen" issues. They brought to Rheem standard 50 gal heaters and charged $3200 for material, haul off, and heaters. took 2 hours. The balance of quote was for mileage, labor, drivetime. Adjusted $300 dollars off quote. Make sure they give you details of charges not just "piled" together. Will not happen again!!
We called them to locate a leak and they found the drain only. Never found the leak, but the offer to redo the whole house plumbing. After 2 and half hours of work and 375 dollars, they left and left us with the same problem that we call them to fix. If they couldn't do it, they should us told us at least before charging 375 for NOTHING.
We requested Black Plumbing to install an exterior water spicket on the rear of my home since there was no existing water connection on the rear of the home. The technicians came out and said they could tie in from the water lines in the attic and drop the line down through the side of the home and connect the water to the spicket for $2585. They performed the work of tying into the water, removed a significant amount of insulation (9 bags of foam insulation) in order to drop the line down the side of the home and then did connect the spicket. I visually inspected the exterior of the home and the closet where the access panel was installed, and it looked fine at time. Me and my wife noticed that over a period of time the bathroom where the spicket was installed on the exterior wall was significantly colder in the winter and warmer in the summer than the rest of the house. I decided to go up into the attic to investigate and see if there were any possible reasons why the bathroom varying in temperature. Upon arriving at that location in the attic, it was apparent that all of the rafter foam insulation had been removed down to the plywood in several sections and the foam insulation had been removed even going down the several parts of the wall between the 2X4's. I bagged up the foam that had been removed and filled 9 trash bags. Black Plumbing sent a technician out to take pictures and I called their office numerous times(during the week of July 1st and several times the following week of July 8) in order to talk to the superintendent about fixing this, but every time they told me that he was on another call or out of the office? Very strange that he was out of the office or on a call every time I called. I need the insulation replaced in the areas that Black Plumbing removed in order to restore my proper insulation and keep my family comfortable. The removal of the insulation was a direct result of your work and for paying you as much as I did, I expect a quality product and my home to be returned to the condition it was found in before you were on the site. Even though the receipt says insulation was provided, it wasn't. Bottom Line - This was a result from Black Plumbing's as there hadn't been any other work performed in my attic in this area and should have been fixed prior to payment being taken. We have several large projects in the upcoming months: inground pool and an outdoor kitchen area being built and we will NOT use Black Plumbing for any of this work or any future work! I highly discourage anyone from using Black Plumbing, there are several other plumbing and HVAC companies in Abilene that pride themselves on quality work AND will take care of customers if something isn't right! UPDATE: After my review and complaint to the BBB, Black Plumbing did have the insulation repaired on July 11. I have upgraded my rating from 1 Stars to 4 stars.
While the staff have been very friendly, my issue lies within the operating policies of Black Plumbing. Unfortunately my septic system completely backed up the night of 12.2.2020 leaving me no other choice than to call a plumbing company to come out and clear the clogged pipe the next day 12.3.2020. I initially called Midway Plumbing who broke down in every detail their services they render and the costs; however, with their busy workload they were not able to accommodate my timeframe for needed servicing which I then in-turn contacted Black Plumbing who was able to come out that same day, thankfully! Yes, the plumber was able to clear the pipe from what we could see, we flushed the toilets a couple of times and things "seemed" to be working properly. About 5 hours after the plumber left, my husband came home and did his business and low-and-behold the septic backed up again due to the toilet paper. Knowing what Midway had promised (cameras to ensure the blockage was clear at the time of the initial servicing and a 60 something day warranty of their services), I contacted Black Plumbing the morning of 12.4.2020 to explain the blockage was apparently partially cleared and inquired about their use of cameras to guarantee their services and if they would come back out. While the gentleman who called me back was very pleasant, I was informed their policies were to apparently not use cameras at the time of service but they would send a plumber back out to stick a camera down the pipe, and IF it was determined that the plumber didn't clear the pipe properly, they they would clear it again as a "courtesy", but if it were a lateral line issue requiring a septic clearing then I would be charged their minimum plumber + travel fee, which according to my invoice from 12.3.2020 was $220, and then I would still need a septic guy so I was looking at the possibility of paying approximately $280 for the 12.3.2020 service, $220 for a call back out fee if it didn't need clearing, and whatever Stinky Steve's Septic and Grease would charge to empty the lines & tanks. This all could have been avoided had they used cameras initially. While I am extremely grateful that I have partial usage of my septic system until my husband can rent the appropriate equipment to clear it himself this weekend, next time I will wait a few days for Midway Plumbing to come out and properly take care of my issue as they do use cameras as a peace of mind to their customers in knowing they did it right the first time.
Had a problem with one end of my sewer line which a toilet, a shower, lavatory and washing machine connect. I'm too old to fix these problems myself as I had done the original plumbing, but that was over 35 years ago. So, I made the mistake of calling these guys. I thought they were professionals and after problem after problem they finished two days later and presented me with a 2,500 dollar bill. I wrote them check, they went on their way. We washed a load of clothes and air started bubbling through the toilet, I assured my wife the it was just air and everything would be fine. The toilet wouldn't flush either, so we replaced the toilet using another plumber. Much to his surprise his new toilet wouldn't flush either. He asked about my plumbing and I told him it was brand new. He asked to see it and after looking at it he said that he saw the problem which was the sewer line was actually going up hill. It was very obvious. He said that I should call Black Plumbing and tell them about it and they would probably fix it. I called, even sent a photo. They sent some Gus out and started giving me a line that the house must have shifted due to the amount of rain that we recently had. I told the guy that the house had not shifted because if it had shifted that much there would be cracks in my drywall. He said they could fix it, but they would have to charge me again. I said no because I had already paid them 2500 dollars and all I got out of it was a toilet that wouldn't flush and if I did have to replace it. He then told me that I owed them travel money for them to come out and look at it. I told them that Ii had paid them all the money they were going to get from me and I would take the matter up with the BBB. They then called their boss and after a thirty minute conversation, fixed the pipes to where the commode would at least flush and then left with plumbing from the toilet sitting in a rock for a brace. I wonder how many senior citizens or other people that know any better have fallen or this scam?
UPDATE: Spoke with owner Darrin Black. He said my review was slander. Along with calling me a hypocrite for stating I'm a Christian on FB. He also made jabs about my posts because posting this review I wasn't being Christian-like. He told me that I should be ashamed of myself and shame on me for posting the review. I read one of his 1 star reviews on FB and apparently I'm not the only one that the word slander is thrown at. No true reputable professional, Christian or not, would speak at people like I was spoken to. I was going to remove my review after we agreed to disagree. Then a pastor's wife and friend of mine guided me to not do it. She said that even Christians should have a voice and not let someone bully us by intimidation or by causing us to feel guilty for a review of our experiences no matter what company it is. There's no slanderous words here nor have any had ever been used. Just mine & my mother's experience. My tub needed a new faucet. When a guy with Black Plumbing came out, I informed him of this. He said it needed a new stem. He supposedly fixed it but instead he had tightened the knobs so tight to stop it from leaking. I spent $400 and the moment I used the faucet, it started leaking. I called the office and they informed me that because I had signed the paperwork. There's nothing that they can do. Really.... who turns on and off the faucet when clearly looking, it's not leaking, while the guy is there. Well I learned 2 things that day. Never use BP again and if it's a faucet, turn on and off to see if it's actually fixed before signing anything. I had to hire someone else to put a new faucet in. I was right... It was the faucet. Apparently it's not satisfisfaction guaranteed.
Called Black Plumbing to replace a failed water heater in my home. After a lot of discussion over the phone, We decided to go back with the original style water heater. I was told by the individual from Black Plumbing the all totaled it would cost 2000 dollars or more, depending on the length of time involved. The breakdown is as follows. $140 per hour for labor, Material costs, 75 cents per mile travel charge and on top of that charge $140 per hour travel time. I have used them in the past, but NEVER again. I went to Abilene and Picked up a New water heater and while I was at the supplier I talked to a Black Plumbing Employee. I told him of the quote and said that It seemed high. My neighbor and I installed the new heater in about 3 hours. That was on a Friday. The next day the owner called and was very upset about me talking to his employee about the quote. The message I took from our conversation was that if you don't live in or very near Abilene, Black Plumbing will over charge you, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. The owner said it was not worth his time to come out to the country. His reason was that he had to pull people off of jobs to travel all the way out here to do a job. When I went to pick up my water heater 4 of his employees were there sitting at the counter and that was where I talked to the employee. Lastly, there are plumbers that will do an excellent job in a timely manner and not overcharge, and not call your house to talk trash.
Black Plumbing used to be a great reputable company, but that has changed. I have used them several times in the past and they had always provided great service at a great price. I had a water heater fail recently and had to get it replaced quickly. I bought the water heater myself from Home Depot and it was in the garage next to my bad water heater, so they didn't need to move it very far. They came the next day knowing they were replacing a water heater and they only sent one guy. He came and looked at it and said he didn't have the right parts, so he'd have to go get them despite knowing what the job was. He was gone for over an hour and when he came back he said he needed help getting the new heater in, so I helped him. I told him to reuse the drip pan and power cord, so the only thing he replaced was some short copper pipe from the wall and a ball valve. When he was done, he hands me a bill for $869 !! He charged me for 3 hours of labor even though he was gone for 1 of them, and $271 for "materials" which he refused to explain or itemize on the bill! He said "We're not the cheapest or most expensive". I estimate the cost of the materials used retails for about $80. I understand that they have to have a mark up, but that's ridiculous! I contacted the office, but they were no help and basically told me I could take my business elsewhere! I will never use Black Plumbing again for my home, business, or rent houses!...
I called Black Plumbing to inspect a leak under our kitchen sink and was quoted $1,900 to repair it since it would extensive work and time consuming. When I told the sales rep that I wanted to think about the cost the sales rep told me that I had to pay $150 up front even though their sign off the highway says free quotes ( shame on me for not seeing that prior to calling them out). We reluctantly approved the repair, the next day workers came out and told my wife that the work was complete and the leak had been repaired. We kept seeing residual water around the wall for a few days after the repair was completed. When the water didn’t disappear, I contacted Black Plumbing again, and this time they quoted us an additional $8,900 to replace the drain line since and I quote the sales rep “ they only repaired a small pinhole leak where the sink drain met the vertical stack”. Because the price seemed extremely high, I decided to investigate and repair the issue myself. During the repair, I discovered that the drain line was completely clogged with buildup and debris. At no point did the plumbers inform me or my wife that the drain line was in the condition shown in the attached photos. What’s even more concerning is that the repair they quoted at $8,900 ended up costing me only $115 in parts and one day of labor to fix. Will be sending a formal complaint to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, BBB, and PHCC.
I just started a church in Roscoe Texas they came out to repair leaky pipe. They repaired the pipe and they were supposed to repair the The urinal as well they said they fixed it but it continues to leak. It won’t shut off. It’s probably gonna cost me hundreds of dollars for the water bill where they said it was under warranty two days later they said it was not. They wanted to charge me an extra $900 for the urinal they did not fix it is still leaking and it won’t stop running. I would’ve given them a good recommendation because I thought they did get work at first. But they charge me for going to get the parts. They should’ve already had on their trucks and they charge me for sitting around talking amongst themselves when they said I owe him an additional money. I tried to pay them something, but they did not want to accept it after they got done working on the plumbing we had other issues with the drainage system not draining. They said they would not come fix that unless I pay them the extra money that they said I owe them. I wish somebody could please help me in our church
I recently had my clean out snaked to clear out unwanted toilet paper and debris. The day before my washing machine had run over into the floor and flooded some of my carpet. I was able to shop vac and dry it up, so i called on Black Plumbing. Worst idea possible. After most the day to snake a clean out, they told me all debris was cleaned out and it was clear. Not being plumber savvy, I assumed when they did a job it was done right. I assumed too much. That night my pea trap to my washing machine clogged and flooded my house. All my carpet ruined. It cost me $3,000 to replace it all. When I called their owner and asked him what they were gonna do to make it right, he said it wasn't there fault, even though in paper I had a hand written receipt stating everything was good and they had done their job. I'm just one person, but save your money and get real professionals like Longmire Plumbing. Oh, and an added bonus is that when they snaked to my shower they broke the transition from faucet to shower. You've been warned!!!!
Paid $3600 for a complicated water heater installation bc gas lines and pvc pipes, vents etc. were all in the way. He did it all in great time the day the plumber was here (maybe 4 hours?). But now we're waiting on inspector to come back bc it didn't pass the first time d/t vent hood not being lined up/sealed properly. (Which I guess there's some subjectivity to?) I mean, I'm glad I didn't have to do it, and happy to have hot water back. I guess I would give 3.5 stars if I could. Seems a bit overpriced, but when you want hot water and everything is overpriced these days, I guess I'm not that shocked, but also not that impressed? They've done well for us before, but I'd say this experience was pretty mid overall mainly d/t cost/delays. I've been asked repeatedly for reviews (before work was even complete), so there you go. Before and after pics attached (with vent fixed and waiting inspection).
