I had a slow drain in my basement due to roots growing in a main drain pipe heading out to the street. Protip: Don't plant huge trees over ground that has PVC pipes in it. I'm a Realtor and see this far too often. Big Apple booked us for the next day and showed up on time with great communication through texts. I knew there was an $89 service fee. The technician decided the pipe needed to be snaked, as suspected. The quote was $430, which seemed higher than I've paid before, but I knew I already had the $89 required fee and just wanted to get the work done. After a long list of legal disclaimers claiming no responsibility for anything that happens and no guarantee of effectiveness, he spent about an hour clearing out some roots and the drain is working better. Looking back on the last 3 times I had this service done several years before, I paid $125 and $200 for the same service. Not sure why Big Apple charges such ridiculous rates. Perhaps they require their plumbers to have a law degree so they can properly read off all the disclaimers? $430 for an hour of work (with our help carrying heavy equipment) is just stupid and I'll definitely call someone else next time any of our homes need work done. Why not just charge an hourly fee like independent plumbers charge?! I've added the previous companies to my Contacts so I don't make this mistake again. Shop around, because when you're faced with the quote knowing you're already in $89 you'll probably make the same decision I did, and regret it. Sure I signed off on the work when it was done, because what choice did I have? Doesn't mean the pricing isn't stupid ridiculously high for an hour of work, even with travel time (Westminster to Broomfield) and your "fully stocked truck". $430 for one hour?

Even though they advertise that they can provide estimates on Yelp, this information is wrong. They do not provide quotes "over the phone." Needed a quote on labor for a toilet fill valve replacement but was messaged to call the office. So do not even bother messaging them for help. It is just more convenient to book through an app than calling in. Waiting for this plumbing company to catch up to 2021.

An hour into Big Apple's plumber attempting to clear a mainline clog it was clear something was very wrong, so I was googling to try and educate myself on what might be going on. That was when I came across an SFGate article that said a competent plumber would ask if the home had a "clean-out", and remembered why I didn't remember prior plumbers pulling the toilet to clear a clog. Something seemed off when he asked where to put the toilet before starting work, so I had asked if removing the toilet was the best way to do the job, but even that question did not promot the plumber to ask about a clean out. Too bad he didn't because the entire encounter was disastrous. He didnt use the clean out. He sent the snake up the vent, but didn't know it. He couldn't get a camera in the system. When I remembered there was a clean-out, he couldn't see the snake in the mainline, and lied about why he couldn't see it. He lied that the snake would have broken through the vent pipe in the attic if it was in the vent, and we would see it. Long story short, he spent much of the event on the phone with his boss since he didn't know what he was doing. He cut the snake off when I told him I didn't agree to that step. He said he would send a crew the next day to dig up the mainline. I said no. Turns out every plumber that answered my query on their forum in Reddit agrees, the plumber was responsible for asking about a clean-out, after all, he, not I, ams supposed to be the expert. Next day, the plumber from a diff company successfully got the the camera into the pipe, saw the snake, which was hanging off my roof. The blockage was cleared in minutes. I asked the owner to call...he didn't. Then I emailed to dispute the invoice he sent instead. That was what prompted him to call...after the third time he talked over me and called my "dear", I asked him to stop being condescending, at which point he literally scarted screaming at me, yelling profanities, and threatening me. It was impossible to come to a mutually agreeable conclusion to the completely botched, inept and failed efforts of his incompetent employee because of his refusal to let me speak...he would hear nothing of what I said, insisted I agreed the work was satisfactory (I had actually refused to sign that part of the plumber's documentation). This company failed on every front, and cared only about making a profit despite their ineptitude. Buyer beware. UPDATE: having read the owner's response, I will point out his lies. 1) the plumber never looked around for a clean-out. Yes, it was under landscaping, but that is why he should have asked. Yes, it was after dark, but there are several floodlight in my yard and it was clearly lit. I did not call his office, I emailed and he responded. I did not complain about the price, although before I found out their ineptitude caused the problem I did ask why they wanted to charge me $400 for snake that is readily available online for significantly less money. But once I knew their errors caused the whole problem, and because I did not agree to them cutting the snake. Additionally, their documentation says if the snake is trapped or damaged in the swere line the customer would be responsible, but they NEVER put ot in the sewer line, and if their plumber understood he should have seen it in the cleanout or knew how to get a camera in the pipe, they never would have cut it. Ask any plumber...read Reddit...it was their job to ask about a cleanout and not assume the customer is going to remember or direct them as to the best way to do the work. If he want his snake back, its laying behind my shed. I never threatened him with negative reviews, and even if I had tried he was so busy screaming profanities at me he wasn't hearing anything I was saying. He can try to send me to collections, but so far I have not heard from collections, but if ai do I will tell them it is under dispute. Just because he says he will only gives facts doesnt mean he did. He took advantage of the situation, the late hour, sent an unqualified employee, and acted like an oaf and bully.

Here is what I can say, hopefully this is useful if you are planning a service from Jason & Big Apple. I called Jason for an urgent need to replace a water heater and he was able to get someone to install the same day evening, off course for an extra charge. That was all good. It was late in the evening (like after 10 PM) the installation was done and the person who did the work couldn't haul away the old heater and said he will do it the next day. Since the entire work was not complete (that is the old heater was not taken away), I asked the technician if can hold a small token amount until he hauls the old heater the next day. That's it, Jason got so furious and didn't have the patience to listen and started bullying & threatened to take away the newly installed heater that late at night. He got so furious that he also threatened the poor technician that he will be fired(Jacob, are you still there? Good luck) since he couldn't haul the old heater away. All this drama around midnight. Anyways, I paid the whole agreed amount anyway even though the work was not complete as agreed that evening. Next thing is about county inspection: It took 2 months for Jason to figure out which county where my house was located, that too after I made 10-12 follow ups. Come on, really? 2 months? His constant single line response is "be patient". Eventually when he figured which county my city was, then his next reason was the county inspection is backed up due to COVID. When I called the county office, they said usually they can do the inspection one business day after submitting a request and never had any issues due to COVID. Finally, far all those BS, he was able to schedule the inspection and completed the work. Thanks Jason! So, there you have it folks. That's my experience. The bottom line is - If everything goes well then it seems to be an okay but if you dare to question anything then the conversation quickly becomes very difficult and short tempered. My small advice: Threatening/bullying a customer, especially at middle of night is not going to get good review. Instead, allowing time to listen to the others' point of view will have a positive outcome.

IF YOU ARE UNSURE IF YOU NEED WORK PERFORMED DO NOT HAVE THEM COME OUT. Also - read many of the reviews here and you'll see others have had this same disappointment. Don't put yourself through it. I had a potential issue with my gas oven, and called and asked if they did this type of check or work. The person I talked with said they could help me and there would be a dispatch fee. I made it clear the issue is when I turn my oven on only. If any work was performed they would apply that dispatch fee to the cost of the repair. That makes total sense, HOWEVER, their dispatch fee is literally only for them to drive to your house and ring the doorbell. NOTHING ELSE. NOTHING. Just to have them check the gas line behind my oven would cost and additional $400!! Just to have them pull the appliance out and see if there is a leak, not even to repair the leak. On top of this, if the issue was with the appliance and not the gas line, they dont do that type of work and did not clarify that when I called (or I dont clearly remember that they said this). I think it is pretty clear when I described my issue that you should (a) clarify you dont repair appliances and (b) tell your potential customer that it will cost them $400 just to figure out if there is a problem at all!! We all know why you would not reveal a $400 diagnostic - most non-commercial customers like myself probably would not pay that much. Regarding the dispatch fee itself, when I called, they said the dispatch fee was $59 - that is what I wrote down. When they arrived they said it was $69. Maybe I wrote the wrong thing down but if you look at other reviews you'll see the fee seems to be all over the place. So now I am $69 poorer for someone simply coming to my front door, and I'm fully expecting the owner to be sassy in their response to me, as seen on other reviews. I dont care - I am sharing my honest experience with your company, as have many others here. If you dont like our honest experience, get out of a business that involves customers being satisfied with your company.

Worst experience. The guy came to my house did not even try to see why my pipe was clogged, he shined a flashlight on it then told me he would snake it for $353 dollars. When I asked what would happen if it was still happening tomorrow, I was told nothing would happen, it's not there problem if it works after or not. Why would you not try and see what the actual problem is? He then had an attitude the whole time, refused to answer my questions. I had to call the office and they told me if it was not working tomorrow and it was the same issue they would send someone out again at no cost. Then the owner called me and said no they would not send someone out at no cost that they don't guarantee pipes. My issue with that is why wouldn't you even try and figure out why it is not working. The guy who was in my house walked out while I was asking him questions, just walked out and ignored me. He also while in my home took his shoe covering off when I asked him not to. All around horrible customer service, the owner could care less that his employees had an attitude or was giving out incorrect information. Go somewhere else with better customer service. Update: Great to know that they can provide horrible customer service and treat you badly and still try and charge you, Already have another plumber coming out and will actually come back out if the job is not fixed at no extra charge. Again go somewhere else that cares about customers not just ripping you off. Also the price was not a problem, it was the fact you could screw up the job and not be held responsible. That is the problem. This place is a scam, I agreed to pay a fee to come out and look at the issue. That was not done. The Owner is more concerned with arguing with you then fixing the customer service. Just look at all the other bad reviews, same issue I am having......

Called to speak with someone about adding 8 instahot type faucets/sinks in my house. All of a sudden I felt like I was buying a used car. The gal on the phone says, "ok so let me tell you how we work, first of all we charge a $49.99 trip fee before any work is performed." I immediately was taken back by them trying to sell a service call inside of actual work. She didn't even know if they did the type of service and I was already getting the pitch. She also says, this isn't California anymore after mentioning they didn't have that out there where we moved from. Seems like the plumbing industry might need some better regulation. This review is my opinion only. Edit: Owner called me to explain why their structure is setup to charge upfront. Although we are not a good fit for this type of plumber, it is possible it may fit another type of client. Updated stars to 2 stars because of the call, and the owner was friendly. Edit 2 (after owner replied): If you are selling a new system like an ion exchange system or a Halo5 system, or if a client is wanting to get a hot water recirculating system to achieve an instant hot effect on all faucets, you should probably have a product knowledge guru that also specializes in customer service come out. Not necessarily a plumber who in some cases may not have the personality to discuss products with clients as efficiently and effectively. To charge every client with a "service fee", isn't smart business in my opinion.

Just purchased a home and had a leak coming from our copper waterline pipe connected to our fridge. We placed an emergency after-hours call which was $140 just to get someone out there. I was warned in advance about this, so, fair enough. Our plumber, Gabriel, arrived and was pleasant, polite and friendly. Unfortunately, this is where the positivity ends. He spent the entire time looking at our waterline in the basement and assessing how much it would cost to replace the entire thing - instead of focusing on the leak problem which was up by our fridge. I felt like he spent all his time figuring out how to upcharge us on the job instead of focusing on the actual problem. He quoted me at $1,000 to fix the problem "properly." I asked him to send me some estimates and we'd decide what to do next day. My wife's grandpa and dad are both handymen and know a fair amount about plumbing and said the estimate provide was incredibly outrageous for the problem. We ended contacting another plumber and they did exactly what Gabriel was proposing but for $100 flat. Do not be deceived by the friendly customer service - they are just looking to rip you off. I understand the job may slightly vary in price, but charging 10x the actual cost is inexcusable.

Great if you need a last minute fix. Very overpriced. Do your research ahead of time or else expect to pay around 1.5-2x the price for things. They will try and rip you off if you are not careful. They will try and tell you that you need to have certain services done because their "specialist" says so. They will then quote you $25,000 to repair an entire pipe from start to finish when 95% of your pipe is perfectly fine. They will try and convince you and pressure you that this is the only way to "resolve your problem". To update the comments from the owner that he changed (after pretending not to remember): wish I still had the text, so I could put it up here but I was asked to remove this review by the owner. We had 2nd and 3rd quotes done on our house in addition to two more scopes. I then it had it supervised by another "specialist" and no one even came near their quote. Our lines were perfectly fine under our driveway. Don't be deceived! Get more quotes! This company is falsely elevating their ratings and then updating their comments later to make it look their poor reviews are their customers' faults! For a company that "depends on their customer's experience", they are very unprofessional and deceiving.

Highly satisfied with Big Apple Plumbing. After three days of sub zero temperatures, we had a burst frozen pipe in the garage that was about to leak water everywhere. The water needed to be shut off at the street (not in the house) and the pipe repaired. I called six plumbers and the best they could do was schedule us 1-2 days out - I am not complaining about them, there were frozen pipes everywhere. Big Apple Plumbing was my 7th call - Jason (an actual plumber not a front desk person) answered the phone and was quick to note the severity of the situation. He was busy too, but took the time to give me some alternative advice - "call the city and have them turn off the water at the street." I immediately acted on this advice and the Town of Superior came out within 5 minutes to shut the water off at the street. It had not occurred me to call the city and none of the 6 previous plumbing companies had taken the time to give this simple advice! After averting a potentially serious disaster, I called Jason back again to schedule the repair. He fit us in on the same day as an evening emergency trip and fixed the problem that night! We are very grateful to Jason and highly recommend Big Apple Plumbing.

I scheduled an appointment to have a sink and faucet installed, and they were not even able to give me a price range over the phone. The person on the phone told me it would be $39 for someone to come out and look, and that fee would be deducted from the total if we were to move forward. I thought it was pretty annoying that they couldn't even give me a range of a few hundred dollars, especially since I explained exactly what we would be doing over the phone, but fine, I could do my own research to get an idea on price. I found that the national average to install a new sink is $394, with most homeowners paying between $216 and $584, so I figured the price would fall somewhere in this range. The plumber who arrived was very friendly and professional, but upon arrival and a quick look told me it would be $986 to install a standard top mount drop in sink - and another $300+ for the faucet. This is absolutely outrageous! I just threw away $39 and could have easily avoided that if the company would have just answered a simple question over the phone and perhaps requested a photo before sending someone out. What a waste of my money and waste of this plumbers time. This company is a joke.

My husband and I had a bad experience with this company. Our hot water heater broke. We called a friend in the roofing/construction business and he recommended this company. The tech who came out was very nice and did his job. We were shocked at the price at which we were told was their baseline price to remove, pick up and install a new water heater. The tech called his boss who is the president of the company. All we were trying to do was have him break down the charge of $2,000. We just wanted to know how they arrive at this number. He was short, rude, dismissive and not at all willing to work with us. He then proceeded to text and call his tech repeatedly to get him to go to another job. We heard him even though he wasn't on speaker, telling his tech to leave our house. They didn't need our business. Whatever. Bottomline it was POOR customer service. We got another company out here and they did the job at 1/2 the price. They were super friendly and they didn't need a permit as the owner of Big Apple said they needed. So I will never use this company and I will make sure to tell everyone how rude and dismissive the President of the company was.
