Best By Farr has been servicing our HVAC system for many years. We have been extremely pleased by the knowledge and care of their technicians so we called them with a recent water leak in a bathroom ceiling. Wade quickly found the source of the leak and fixed it. Problem solved.
We are very happy with the service provided by Best By Farr. We had a wiring issue and Wade made a difficult re-wiring job seem easy. He never gave up or showed frustration (I would have!). They have done our spring and fall maintenance since we moved here, and we don't plan on changing to another company.
After 22 years in the Verde Valley, they are...the BEST by FAR!!! Prompt, no surprise "Add-Ons". Professional & quick service. Swamp Cooler & Furnace service is excellent. I know who to go to if I ever need Repairs or new systems. Thank you! 5-Stars
Instead of Best by Farr this heating/ac company should be called "WORST BY FARR"! Meanspirited customer service (disservice) , incompetent repairmen, delayed repairs, and just plain poor business practices. I paid alot of money and never even got what I requested. There must be other heater/ac repair companies in the area that care for the customer in a professional and respectful manner. But avoid Worst by Farr like the plague! Unless you like abuse.
BUYER BEWARE!!! I have used Best By Farr in the past, the last time being several years ago. I had been satisfied with their work and their prices were reasonable. I had an issue last month with a thermostat in a rental condo unity that I own in Sedona. The new tenant was having issues with the thermostat that was only a few years old. I called and requested to have a tech from Best By Farr to go out and access the problem as I thought the tenant may not be familiar with that type of programable thermostat. I requested to be called by the tech if there was an issue with the thermostat and it needed to be replaced. I never received a call. I received a bill via email from Best By Farr a short time later. The bill was for a total of $458.50, $135.00 for the service call and $323.50 for the thermostat. This is a very basic non Wi-Fi "Honeywell T6 Pro" programable thermostat that sells on Amazon and other website for less than $80.00. I would believe that a heating and a/c company gets for considerably less. I called the office to complain about the price of the thermostat and for not having been called by the tech prior to replacing the thermostat. The lady in the office told me she would have the tech call me. The tech advised me that he was not told to contact me prior to installing a new thermostat and had no control over pricing. The tech came and removed the thermostat, and I ended paying $135.00 for the service call. I am not sure if this company has had a recent change of ownership. I also realize the company needs to make some profit on the items they install. The price they charged for the thermostat is 405% above the cost a consumer can purchase the exact same thermostat for. That is totally unfair to the consumer. I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter. I do not expect a response from the company because there is nothing they could possibly say to justify that type of price gouging! Avoid doing business with Best By Farr. I will never use this company again. Consumers should read current and up to date reviews on any potential companies they want to use. Save yourself a lot of heartache and agony!
Travis came to my office. I called for a replacement HVAC system. He immediately started trashing the previous installation. I believe he was correct, but then told me my system cannot work. Yes, Ok. But he said he was there to fix it. Wait, what? I didn't want it fixed I wanted it replaced. Then he said he wouldn't do that until he figured out why it wasn't working. He'd just told me it can't be fixed. Then he got hostile. Maybe beer time? He would not answer any questions. Then said "I sense a conflict of interest and I'm leaving." I guess the conflict of interest was that I had questions, and while he wanted to replace the capacitor to figure out why the unit that he said will not work due to faulty installation wasn't working, I wanted it replaced. Yes, that does conflict. But I'd have gone with that, if he'd not gone ballistic, if he wasn't so threatened by a consumers question. He stormed off, saying he was calling the cops. (?) I have no idea about what, but he's gone. I waited for the sherif, maybe they'd tell me what Not Good by Farr's problem is. But, in line with Travis' integrity, they never came. I hope I never need warranty work on the main house unit he sold me, but if I do I won't call those clowns. I'd asked 'em to send their best guy. Ha! At one point I said, you work for me, right? I assumed he worked for the consumer and so should answer my questions. To my surprise he said "no". So I said, ok, how about God? To which he replied, "I don't believe in God." Fair enough, in a free country, but to say that to your customer, who very well might believe in God, is idiocy. Well, I guess we just have a conflict of interests, and he's a dummy. He also said, "I've got a recording of this conversation." 'Guess a guy like Travis needs to do that a lot. And THEN (!) Best by No one' s standards invoiced me for taking my time to do nothing. Conflict of interest indeed.
I had them out to service my evaporative cooler last year, and I was very happy with the service. When they shut it down for the season, they recommended that because the unit was so rusty, it be replaced, and they gave me a price for a replacement cooler. On March 2, I called and spoke with Rachel, who looked up my invoice, and found the information giving the estimated price. I told her I would like to go ahead with the installation and she said someone would have to come out and look at it again. I asked if they would please call me before they came, and she assured me they would. I did not hear anything back from them, so today I called again and the call was answered by Rachel, who did not remember our previous call and said she did not work there then. Perhaps it was another Rachel... when I told her nobody had called me and that I had been hoping they would be able to do the installation before the weather gets too much hotter, she said the reason nobody had come out to install it was that they required payment before they would come out, and they had received no payment. I told her I have never paid for a service/installation before the work was done and was not going to start now. As I was asking to speak to her supervisor, she said "then I guess we won't be doing business" and hung up! I called back to ask to speak to her supervisor or manager or the owner of the business but she did not answer the phone. I would not be posting this had she answered the phone and I could have spoken with the person who pays her salary. I'm sure that person would not have wanted my call to be handled in this manner.
Had them out to fix the A/C on the roof of the house. Sedona AZ. The tech that installed a brand new compressor was on the roof, when I told him the whole house is vibrating with this new compressor. He said "It's an old unit, they all vibrate and there's nothing you can do" I told him the old compressor never vibrated and he said it's the best it can be. now, a year later, the A/C compressor went out again, just Called in an experienced HVAC pro who looked over best by Farrrrrs work. The new guy said they put in a compressor, but didn't put in or balance a new fan. He said whenever you put in a compressor you have to balance the fan or put in a new fan or it will vibrate and wear out the compressor over time, not to mention the horrible noise I had for a year with the house vibrating all summer. Worst of all, the tech that didn't balance the fan, also turned off the gas line valve on the roof, so when I went into winter and started using the furnace the ignitor burned out because it couldn't light the furnace. Why did the A/C guy, when chasing the air conditioning compressor turn off the gas line and not turn it back on? The new repair guy say's this is old tricks used by Farr to keep dollars rolling in by setting up problems like unbalanced fans and shutting off gas lines to the furnace without the customers permission. We have drywall cracks in the ceiling and wall as well from the vibrations. Well now we have things done right, but best by Farr is worst by Farr in my book and an extra $1,000 in cost because they didn't do things right the first time.
I am in shock. This company serviced my air conditioner in June 2020 and they did an excellent job at an excellent price. We had hail damage last week and the lead tech Travis came out to our house this past Monday, July 19, 2021, and he promised to write up a quote that afternoon or by the next morning. Two days later, Wednesday July 21, I called and left a message on that I hadn't received a quote yet and I never received a callback. I called just now on Friday morning, July 23, and I spoke to the rudest receptionist I have ever spoken with. She rebuffed my query about when I might see a quote, and she told me everyone is working 50 hour weeks there and that she had no idea when my quote would be written up and that Travis was booked solid through the end of August. I wasn't rude or unkind, I simply asked if she had any idea when the quote might be provided. She said she would tell Travis that I needed the quote by August 10th. I didn't say any such thing! I hadn't given her any date or deadline. I then asked her to tell him that we were simply hoping to receive a quote fairly soon, that is all. She repeated that she would give him the message that we need the quote by August 10th and then she hung up on me. I am absolutely stunned! Something terrible has happened to this company since last year. I would recommend steering clear of them until things change. Travis seemed really nice and very competent and I feel badly for all the techs. Something is very wrong in the home office.
They are under new ownership and it is a disaster. No customer service, no warranty for their work and no respect for customers that they have done work for. They have destroyed the good name that Dave and Jon stood for. Under no circumstance let this company touch your AC. They messed mine up so bad it didn't last 2 years and they won't stand behind their faulty work. I would never allow them to touch anything on my heating/Ac unit again. After putting in a new unit which they ordered the wrong one the first time, they installed a piece of junk 7 months later, yes I said 7 months later and it didn't last 2 years before it's spraying water and coolant everywhere. When I called them back they serviced it to the tune of almost $700.00. It did not even come close to fixing the problem. When I called them back 2 weeks later they came out and said yep it's leaking and left without fixing anything again and charged me again for a service call over 100. Dollars. They were supposed to call me and never did. Yep, I still have water all over and the unit isn't fixed! I repeat!!!@@@ do not let them touch your unit. Call any company but Best by Farr or you will pay up the nose and get no service, high charges and really lousy service if any at all.
I called this company to check out my HVAC system last summer because the blower was not turning on. Without any mention of a quote, multiple technicians spent three hours on my roof. At the end of it all, they temporarily "fixed" it via direct wiring to the blower motor and charged me $1,000. Then the blower motor would not shut off and they never gave me an option for a permanent fix to the issue. I called Pitzer's One Hour HVAC and their tech came out and within half an hour diagnosed the problem, fixed Best by Farr jerryrigging and gave me a quote to replace the "rescue motor" that was installed. No one at Best by Farr knew that it was a rescue motor? Unbelievable. I am a disabled veteran and my wife is retired, so the $1,000 was a bit of a hardship, but it was the middle of summer and we had no choice. I will never call Best by Farr again and will give all my business to One Hour Air going forward. Do yourself a favor and do the same.
BBF installed several mini-split units in our home several years ago. These units are game changers in air conditioning! In spite of this, several of the PVC pipes that channel the water/moisture from inside our house to the outside have broken and allowed some water to leak in the attic where the pipes are located & onto and into the ceiling drywall. The water then dripped onto the floor. Last week we had another leak. My wife called BBF last Saturday. We thought we would have to wait until today, Monday, for a technician to show up & fix the problem. However, we were pleasantly surprised a happy that BBF sent Seth out to us on a weekend to repair the pipe! He crawled up into hot attic several times & when he was finished, the pipe was replaced and the leak was stopped. Every time a technician has come out, they have displayed courtesy & professionalism. In a nutshell, we have been very happy with Best by Farr for several years.
So to continue and confirm that there is a Rachel working there, who isn't very pleasant! She also too hung up on me ! I was told that the tech was there and no one was home. I asked if she could confirm the address and that he saw our vehicles parked and she quickly stated that there's no way to confirm and that "we're not going to get into that". I was told that they would be at our house at 8 AM, about 1030 I got a call from Rachel saying that the technician had been there for an hour, and was trying, knock on the doors and that no one was home. Long story short Poor practice in business. She didn't want to admit that they were wrong with the address of service or if the technician was even there. Just sad when you can read reviews and read other random people have the same experience. Maybe something went wrong, which is fine but don't beat around the bush and lie.
My 20 year old AC unit stopped working. They came out the same day and gave me a quote to repair the unit but due to its age I wanted to replace the unit. They came out the next day and provided me a written quote on a replacement the same day. I got a quote from other company who just wanted me to sign a contract on an iPad without sending a copy of the quote to me. Best by Farr was HALF the price of their competitor for equipment of the same stats. They did not push for me to sign right away or get an “deluxe package” Chris also gave us an affordable alternative to adding AC to our newly enclosed carport by adding a mini split to the room. They were professional and respectful of my home and completed the work in a timely manner. If you are looking for the honest and straightforward company in town Best By Farr is it.
When these people say they stand behind their service, it's not just a trite company slogan - they really do! They made repairs to fix a coolant leak in my heating system that could not be found on multiple trips by the original installer. Afterwards, and not related to their previous work, the drip pan over-flowed in my garage ceiling. Shortly after I called to report the problem, Jamie came out and fixed it - even going to Ace for needed tubing, and then coming back the following week to make sure the problem was corrected, all without charge since they had already performed maintenance on the system. Since the garage ceiling had leakage problems they contracted with a dry-waller, again no charge. From now on, I'm sticking with these guys.
