Israel, the plumber, was great! Highly recommend!
Nice, quick, and affordable. Israel was great to work with!
Israel was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He performed a complete inspection of the plumbing in my house and made recommendations to replace its old valves that may leak
Israel was expert, friendly, explained things well, and fixed the problem with our sump pump quickly. Unfortunately, two days later at 12:25am the sump pump alarm is going off and no one can come out until possibly noon tomorrow. Another sleepless night ahead...
A completely unnecessary upsell — get a second opinion before using this company I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to diagnose a leaking faucet. The technician took a quick look and immediately quoted me over $700 to replace the entire faucet. No real explanation, no attempt to troubleshoot, and not a single alternative option offered. What actually fixed it? A $20 cartridge replacement. I confirmed the issue myself and repaired it in minutes. No full replacement needed. No $700 bill. Just a basic part the technician never bothered to check. This wasn’t just a high quote. It was a wrong diagnosis that would’ve cost me hundreds of dollars for work that wasn’t necessary. That’s a serious trust problem. If I hadn’t stopped to verify the issue on my own, I would’ve been charged more than 30 times the cost of the real fix. I won’t be calling this company again, and I strongly recommend anyone reading this to always get a second opinion. A plumbing company should solve your problem—not create an expensive one.
We had a small-ish leak coming from somewhere near our dishwasher. I couldn't locate the leak myself, but it seemed to be near the sink-side of the dishwasher compartment. Israel called to check to see if he could arrive earlier than scheduled. After checking the various places where water as appearing, both in the kitchen and directly below in the basement, Israel located the leak. Unfortunately, it was in the dishwasher itself and that's something that most plumbers won't attempt to fix. Our machine is 16 years old, at the upper end of its life expectancy, so Israel recommended that we just replace it with a new machine. Israel was prompt, professional, courteous, and very thorough. Although we didn't get full resolution to our problem, Israel successfully completed the tasks Ben Franklin could do and I was very happy with Israel's performance. 12-11-2024 Addendum: A toilet was unable to flush due to a disconnected flushing mechanism. The shut off valve for the toilet developed a leak so I called Ben (on Sunday) and they scheduled an appt for Monday. Israel appeared promptly and as usual was professional, courteous, and thorough. Israel replaced the shut off valve, the fill hose, the flushing fill valve, and the "flushing flap". Once he completed the repair, he checked everything including the water flow to other rooms. Israel did an excellent job and very efficiently. A new review for Ben Franklin. Israel called to ask if he could come early and arrived about 45 minutes after his call. We thought we had a problem with the water heater. We had plenty of hot water up to and including Friday, 05/02/2025. Then, starting on Saturday, 05/03/2025, the output from the heater was lukewarm at best. Israel could find nothing wrong with the water heater except the setting had been changed and was too low. After setting the temperature to the 120 degree or "Hot" mark the heater was restored to its usual behavior. We have no idea how the temperature setting got changed, but it obviously did since we had hot water from installation of the heater until 05/02/2025. Israel instructed me to keep an eye on the heater and if there were any problems to call him right away. As always, Israel was professional, efficient, very clear in his explanations, and very polite. Another 5-star rating for Ben Franklin.
Unfortunately, my experience with this company was highly disappointing. The technician contacted me four hours after the scheduled appointment window to inform me that he would not be able to complete the plumbing request due to the age of the water heater. This issue should have been identified well in advance—especially considering the appointment had been scheduled ten days prior. It is concerning that the scheduling personnel lacked the knowledge to recognize the type of equipment their technicians are qualified to service. With a ten-day lead time, there was more than enough opportunity to properly review the job details and make necessary adjustments. Last-minute cancellations of this nature reflect poor coordination and unprofessionalism. When my disappointment was shared with the technician, he brushed it off with the following statement "Will cancel your appointment. Feel free to call to reschedule thanks 😊". What a snub and a lack of courtesy displayed here. I would NEVER waste my time with a company such as this who does not value their customers. FYI, NO CUSTOMERS, NO REVENUE!
It takes a lot for me to be compelled to write a poor review. We hired Benjamin Franklin Plumbing (Columbia, MD) on August 29, 2025 to clear a clog in our kitchen sink. The technician was here for about 40 minutes and used a standard Snake K-60 machine (the type you can rent at Home Depot for ~$75/day). The total bill was $650, which was shocking compared to the $350–$400 range that we later learned other reputable companies typically charge for the same service and labor. I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing's office three separate times (Aug. 30, Sept. 3, and Sept. 5) asking to please speak with a manager or owner about the invoice. Each time I was promised a call back within 48–72 business hours. No one ever returned my calls. On my third attempt, the receptionist became argumentative instead of assuring me I would receive a call back. In my opinion, this company overcharged us and then refused to provide any accountability or even a courtesy call back from management. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company and would advise others to shop around before calling them.
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Company a Maryland-based plumbing company provided a frustrating experience. They sent a plumber to diagnose an issue with my tankless water heater, but I was shocked to be overcharged after being quoted a much lower price initially. The plumber assured me they’d contact the manufacturer and order the necessary part, but follow-up has been a nightmare. Despite multiple attempts, they’ve been unresponsive to messages and calls. The lack of professionalism and communication is incredibly disappointing, leaving my issue unresolved and leaving me to regret choosing their services. I won’t be using or recommending Benjamin Plumbing Company again. Avoid them
I had the pleasure of working with Israel from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. He arrived on time and was very professional throughout the process. After assessing the issue, he provided me with a clear estimate before any work was done. He was also very knowledgeable, and his plan for addressing the problem made perfect sense. Unfortunately, my insurance company did not approve the work, so I had to pause the service until I could resolve things with them. Despite this, I truly appreciate Israel’s professionalism, expertise, and promptness. I would highly recommend both him and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for their excellent service!
All I can say is....AMAZING! Israel and his assistant were very professional, polite and everything was explained and all of my questions were answered. I did not encounter any surprises as Israel was up front on what i needed and pricing. I was advised on proactive techniques and they did an amazing job all around. Great job! Israel was absolutely fabulous and he made my horrible emergency, broken pipes/shower, go away and fixed my problem, installed a completely new shower system, so my family and I are back in business. Thanks for all your help!
Arrived the day I called about a fixed a clogged toilet and promply and competently fixed it. My only complaint is the plumber's persistent effort to give me a written estimate for a new toilet. I repeatedly told him not to do an estimate because I didn't need a new toilet, but he wrote one up anyway. Because this has happened before with this firm,I don't know if it is company policy to require its plumbers to pitch upsells, I didn't appreciate having to discuss an estimate for sonething I didn't want.
I am very pleased with the services provided by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Israel, the plumber, was very professional and took the time to explain why my emergency water shut-off valve was leaking and how long it would take to replace the valve. I have used Benjamin Franklin Plumbing services in both Maryland and Delaware and always pleased with services provided. Lexie, who works in the office, also provides great customer service.
Israel was friendly, professional, and very thorough investigating our leak. He explained exactly what he would do and what the cost would be for each step in the process. Turns out he could tell there was no persistent leak and tie the water accumulation to excess water outside our upstairs shower and some gaps in the caulk by the tub. All options were explored to ensure nothing was missed which was much appreciated. Would hire again.
Israel called me in the morning with his estimated time of arrival. He arrived within his time frame and got to work—my garbage disposal had run its course and was replaced. He let me know the “life span” of garbage disposals. He also replace the flapper in the Kohler commode tank. He was very informative about what I can do to maintain the plumbing “ health” of my home. I am exceedingly happy with the work he did.
