My new favorite people! (And pretty darn good plumbers, too). We've used different plumbers over the years, but when we needed someone, it was usually due to an emergency and didn't have the luxury to be picky. I hired a self-declared "handyman" a couple times, but we never genuinely liked anyone well enough to intentionally ask them to return. Last month, when we began putting in a half-bath ourselves, I decided to see what the folks in my Social Media circles had to say about plumbers. There are always opinions there. When I asked for favorite plumbers, I got maybe 20, 25 replies, and I couldn't help but notice that All American Plumbing was suggested SEVEN of those 20-something times. These were my people commenting, too, so I trusted them and called. I'll save all the details, but we FiNaLlY have a plumber that I will undoubtedly be using next time too. Shannon is the main dude and he is no self-proclaimed Handyman, he's a legit, professional plumber, with an excellent team behind him that made the process easy and feel casual, no stress. I like no stress. I even liked the lady who answered the phone. We had a couple hiccups due to the city, not them, but they rolled with it, came back when they said they would, did a phenomenal job, and weren't weird. (It can be weird having people in your house sometimes, but they weren't.) I seriously can't say enough good things about them. If I did, this already long review would easily turn into a novel. I am not someone who leaves reviews often, not at all. The only time I do is when something is exceptional (exceptionally good OR bad.) These are not just good plumbers, they're exceptionally good people. If you stop reading reviews and just call them, trust, you'll have a favorite too. You're welcome. ;-)
Our family has used All American Plumbing for decades. They are prompt, professional and affordable. Misti, the office manager, efficiently books and follow up with all tasks. Shannon, the owner is concerned for his customers and will take the time to explain what the actual plumbing situation is and the options to correct them. Over the years they have reworked the old plumbing for our house renovation. At my rentals, toilet repair, drain cleaning, and water heater installation. A family owned business that treats you like family! (In a good way!) :) Jean Ryan
We've worked closely with AAP for 10 years and we cannot recommend them enough! The team is always willing to assist as quick as possible and constantly provide excellent service. They handle the plumbing needs for our 400+ unit portfolio without hesitation. The pricing is the best we've encountered and the explanation of the work completed or needed is wonderful! Mysti is a blessing and goes above and beyond! CALL AAP FOR ALL YOUR PLUMBING NEEDS!
Had a incident with a driver right here in Athens where there was a car accident and we had to merge and the driver refused to let me over when there was no other option but to let me over or I’d hit a police car I then called in to let someone know and I got a call back from the owners wife claiming that they went over the video with the owner and basically saying the guy did nothing wrong and she was right behind him and was the one to let me over after he refused and was basically touching the back end of a tractor trailer so I couldn’t get over when needed. In my opinion that just gives a company a bad reputation as far as safety to a from jobs and safety of others. I’ve never called in on drivers for anything ever but this was just so unprofessional!
Our shower was leaking and we called All American Plumbing to help fix the leak. However, before the plumber came, my dad drove to Athens to see what the issue could be. He realized it was because the knob above the drain was facing the wrong way causing it to leak. After we turned the knob, the plumbers arrived and still charged us $150 for nothing. All they did was retwist the knob (which we already did) and did not have to use any additional resources. I understand if I was charged maybe $30 but $150 is just ridiculous. My dad talked to the plumber and they agreed it was the issue but I was charged for absolutely no reason and I am livid because it is not fair.
These people are disrespectful and unprofessional in every manner possible. They exploited and took advantage of my elderly and disabled mother. They charged $472 for 10 minutes of work at 5:30 PM on a weekday. Didn't answer question of how much this would cost. They charged $375 just to come inside after 5pm. Call placed at 3pm. No one explained any process or pricing when ASKED or otherwise. Just receive a shocking bill after-the-fact. This company has poor communication skills. If they were professional, they would answer the question and simply say transparently $375 just to come look. Wouldn't a professional company charge for an hourly rate even if they only do 10 minutes of work, instead of ripping off the elderly at $375 for just taking a peak? They claimed to be "all American" yet its not American at all to take advantage of the elderly, disabled and/or veterans. They exploit the elderly and weak. Worse, they even spied on my elderly mother and told her HOA that she got Doordash delivered and tried to pay with a $100 bill. Why spy? It was actually my mother's birthday and that $100 bill was a gift. And it wasn't Doordash it was her prescription medication delivery which cost almost a $100. Why is a plumbing company spying on the elderly and reporting back to an HOA? It's none of their business. She doesn't even know what Doordash is and sometimes doesnt eat all week when she can't buy grocereis. Again they continue to prove how unprofessional these individuals are. Extremely unprofessional behavior from plumbers and from women in the office. I tried to call and talk to them and they only let me get halfway through explaining before they hung up on me. They threatened to call the police if I called back. I just wanted to explain it to them and give them the opportunity to correct their ways. I gave them the opportunity. I believe they're running a scam on the elderly. In conclusion, there are over priced, inferior quality work, poor communication skills, and beyond rude. They don't care about their customers. They aren't American spirited at all. Unprofessional top to bottom. So ashamed that they even misuse American in their company name. Disgraceful.
Deeply disappointed. We've been using this company for around 20 years, have spent thousands on repairs for our house and several rental houses. I've also recommended All American to several people over the years because, in fairness, they generally seemed to do a pretty good job. However, a couple of things happened recently that have made me very disappointed in them. About a year or so ago, I called them out to a rental house where the tenants reported hearing a persistent drip under the kitchen floor. They looked in the crawl space but could not find the leak. Recently, I asked them to come to the same house to work on the same leak under the kitchen floor (which, by now, had done some pretty bad damage to the floor). They had no appointments available for 5 days, so I made an appointment for 5 days later, but also called another company, which was able to come sooner. That company investigated the leak (and found it) and also measured the water pressure coming into the house (which took 30 seconds). It was more than twice what is required for code, and that was what had caused the leak. If All American had checked the water pressure a year ago, I could have avoided a continuing problem that ended up causing a lot of damage. Also, I forgot to cancel the appointment I had made with All American, so they came out and charged me a $125 call-out fee. I admitted it was my error for not canceling the appointment, but asked them--in light of the fact that we were such long term customers--if they would be willing to waive the fee. They were not willing and seemed indignant that I had even asked. I guess $125 is more important to them than maintaining a long-term relationship. Oh well, I guess I won't be recommending them to friends and colleagues any more.
Placed an order for some fixtures a week ago. Was told they would be in by Monday, nothing. Got a call the next day saying they had finally arrived but only for half of them. The other half was on backorder and wouldn't be available for over a month. Why wasn't I informed of this when the order was placed? You had to have known as your supplier would have told you this. Yet you don't deem it important enough to inform your client who is working on a commercial job and cannot be delayed a month for your mess up. Then to top it off they wanted to charge a 3.5% transaction fee for using a card. This is illegal in 10 states, Georgia is not one, and the maximum allowed is 4%. However, this was not disclosed at the time of order, and it is not posted at their store front which is illegal. I refused to pay this fee or be delayed a month for something that was supposed to be there. So, I was transferred to Misty the so-called manager. She immediately said "what's the problem" I again reiterated that I would not pay their illegal card fee nor would I wait a month for something that was promised the day before. Misty then states that she heard my conversation with the other girl and did not like the way I talked to her, because I questioned their business practices, and she was now refusing to do business with me at all. I told her that was fine I would not buy from them anyways and I had my contractor leave. We found a place online for half the cost and none of the horrible customer service this place exhibits. From other reviews you don't respond to complaints, so I don't expect anything from this. But Misty you should really learn how to treat customers and talk to people.
Being new to the Athens area I am having to rely heavily on recommendations from others in hiring companies to do work on a condo we have purchased. Our realtor recommended All American Plumbing and I am so glad she did. From beginning to end it was a wonderful experience. I spoke to both Bambi and Michelle on the phone. They were both very professional, helpful, friendly and attentive. They made it easy to have somebody come out to give me a quote on a new water heater. Due to size constraints, we were forced to put a more expensive shorter water heater in but they even came out a second time before the install to take measurements to make sure a less expensive full sized one wouldn't fit. On the day of the installation, I was given a call to let me know that Doug and Herbert were on their way. We had talked about possibly putting new shut off valves in to replace the cheap ones we had but waited until they were there to see if it made sense financially. Doug and Herbert included it in the install price. They worked very hard and had our new water heater installed in no time. They were polite, friendly and so hard working in a condo that was burning up because they were installing a new HVAC system. They were sweating bullets but never complained. I am so thankful that I can add them to my growing list of companies that I will gladly use again in the future. Don't hesitate to use them. You won't find harder working, friendlier, and more reasonable price wise plumbers in the area.
Last August I asked them to install new fixtures in my shower/bath. They came out and replaced the shower head without an issue and said they would measure the spout and come back on Friday. They didn't show up on Friday, so I called and made an appointment for the following week. There was something fishy because they said there was some kind of "dispute" which I brushed off to them missing an appointment. They came out the next week with the manager due to the "dispute" and just measured it and then made yet another appointment to actually replace it. I could sense some kind of tension due to whatever the "dispute" was, but I was just glad they were finally going to do the job. When the day came to finally install the new spout, they came out and spent several hours in the tub doing what seems like a relatively simple task if you know what you are doing. It ended up costing several hundred dollars and left me wondering if shouldn't have just cancelled the job and found another plumber at the first sign of any drama. I had called this plumber for jobs in the past, but I will not be calling them again.
Came into their shop with a problem, and they took 10-15 minute to explain how to do it myself, then sold me $5 in parts. They said, "good luck, and if you run into a problem, call us and we'll come help you out." That alone warrants a good review, but there's more... I tried the repair myself, but wasn't comfortable torquing (don't confuse with twerking) the shower handle as much as would be required, so I called them to let the professionals handle it. More importantly for me, I wanted to take the risk and liability out of my hands and put it into theirs. They showed up when they said they would, knocked out the repair in a half hour from start to finish, and charged me the minimum for a service call. I'm a happy customer to say the least. By the way, I'm tough on contractors because I hire them as part of my job as an engineer. I'd hire these guys again in a heartbeat.
All American Plumbing replaced 2 water heaters in the crawl space of a house I was buying in Athens, Georgia. I had to call them back because there was a leak in their initial work. When I was able to get under the house to recheck, I discovered that they had not replaced the pans under the water heaters. The previous water heaters were on pans and had lasted many years. I called and asked why the new ones were not placed into pans. They stated that it did not matter because the water would just run under the house anyway. I told them contact with moist soil would shorten the life of the water heater by increasing corrosion of the bottom of the units. They were not willing to put new pans under the water heaters. They charged 2200.00 dollars and I did not get that quality of work. I will choose another plumbing company in the future.
If I could give 10 stars I would. Shannon and his team were prompt, professional, thorough, and honest. We were faced with a significant sewer line repair right after bringing home our newborn son. All American Plumbing was able to come out quickly to provide an estimate and helped me understand how the plumbing was run on our property. They spent time making sure to check both of our sewer lines and to make sure that they answered all of my questions. They were able to schedule the work quickly during the holidays and complete it swiftly with very little disruption to our family. We met with multiple plumbing companies for estimates and All American was the standout. We are extremely pleased with our experience and would recommend them to anyone needing plumbing work in the Athens area.
I used All American Plumbing several years ago and was very pleased with their service but I won’t use them again. They came recently to repair my kitchen and bathroom faucets. First off, they didn’t wear mask. As they were leaving, we checked the bathroom faucet. It wasn’t working properly so they came back inside and worked on it again. On the kitchen faucet, he said it only needed a new filter and he changed it. The next day the hot water at the kitchen faucet wasn’t coming through so they came out again. Two days after that the water is barely running at all. After paying them for all this work and nothing working right, I’m having to pay someone else to fix the problems.
I will give this business a mind star but you're not allowed to do that. I called to get some plumbing work done. They quoted me a price per hour on the phone then as time went on, they said that price would not be the actual price for the job and they would not Know exactly how much the total job would cost. They did not have an opening for over a month which is not uncommon and then they claim to be booked up after that they finally sent me to another plumber cause I don't think you want to deal with my job. Another terrible treatment to a consumer by a service that seems to be getting common in America. They commit to a day and then back out.
